Instructions for use of Thiovit Jet for grapes, cucumbers and others, compatibility, analogues and reviews

Description of the drug

Fungicide Tiovit Jet is produced in the form of water-soluble granules. The active substance of the product is sulfur in an amount of 800 g/kg. Its effect on fungal microorganisms is to destroy the cell membrane, thereby suppressing their development.

The ingredients do not have a negative effect on the plant and preserve its microflora. When mixed with water, a solution of convenient consistency is formed, thanks to which the liquid remains on the sprayed plants without running off. A sticky layer is formed on the surface of the vegetative and generative parts of plants, which lasts up to 10 days.

A fungicide is a broad-spectrum drug that is used to combat viral infections, as well as to quickly and effectively remove mites. There is an analogue of this product - colloidal sulfur, but, according to experienced winemakers, it does not have such an effective effect as Tiovit Jet.

The drug was highly appreciated and in a short time showed excellent results in eliminating diseases and pests on garden crops. Using it in garden plots, you don’t have to worry about the harvest and achieve your goal without a long wait.

Comparison with colloidal sulfur

Cost-effective methods for extracting fine sulfur from industrial emissions into the atmosphere and purifying it of arsenic compounds have been developed since the 1930s. At the same time, finely dispersed sulfur in the form of a colloidal solution began to be used in agricultural machinery as a pesticide. In the USSR, mass production of colloidal sulfur began in the 1950s.

Colloidal sulfur (photo left) is still produced and successfully used today: it is not such a bad pesticide - since the final product is, in fact, a random mixture of allotropes, its effectiveness is somewhat weaker, but the spectrum of action and scope is wider than that of Tiovit Jet . However, the preparative form of colloidal sulfur powder wetted by SP is not very convenient to use: the powder clumps and sticks together into lumps. Colloidal sulfur working suspension is not a true colloidal solution, it is a rather crude suspension that is difficult to prepare properly and there is no guarantee that the sprayer will not clog during operation.

The Tiovit Jet product (shown on the right) is sold as water-dispersible granules (WDG), compressed from raw materials containing at least 80% S8, especially finely ground. SP for sale should not be ground so finely that it clumps together before it reaches the counter. Granules formed using Syngenta technology do not lose their properties for more than 3 years (shelf life of the formulation) and disintegrate in water, forming a real colloidal solution. This discovery is not particularly difficult technologically, but is very useful in practice: S8 VDG is not only more convenient to use, but also much more effective than powder, which is why Tiovit Jet is produced under license or from original semi-finished products in many countries, including Russia, see. drawing at the beginning and video presentation:

What do the granules provide?

Granulation of particularly finely dispersed active substances provides advantages not only from the point of view of application technology, but also from the point of view of efficiency:

  1. The protective effect of Tiovit Jet is enhanced compared to colloidal sulfur and remains stable throughout the entire period of action (7 days).
  2. For the same reason, and also due to the lack of traceability, the preparation of the working solution is simplified and accelerated - it is prepared directly in the sprayer tank.
  3. When using a sprayer with an agitator, it is not guaranteed that the sprayer will become clogged during operation.
  4. The suspension dries instantly and forms a thick, rain-resistant film on the treated surfaces - Tiovit Jet is applied without glue.

Composition and properties

Fungicidal and acaricidal activity of the drug Tiovit Jet, developed by Syngenta Crop Protection. This pesticide is a single preparation, its active substance (AI) is sulfur S of the allotropic modification S8 (see photo), as can be judged by the name: anyone familiar with chemistry knows that the prefix “TIO” means that it contains “addition » divalent sulfur, this S(II) forms an allotrope of S8.

Chemical formula of the active ingredient of the pesticide Tiovit Jet

The physical properties and, most importantly in this case, the effect of free sulfur allotropes on pathogenic fungi and pests differ significantly. In this regard, S8 is more active against pests and pathogens, but is safer to use and more environmentally friendly.

Tiovit Jet contains at least 80% (800 g/kg) S8 sulfur, so this drug is not colloidal sulfur, which has long been known to farmers.

Active substance

The active ingredient of the drug Tiovit Jet is sulfur.
Its effectiveness against diseases and plant pests has long been noticed by scientists, but previously sulfur was used differently - for setting fire and fumigating plants and objects on which they were going to store crops. A complex and far from safe procedure. Today, thanks to Tiovit Jet, the use of sulfur (by the way, this is a macronutrient useful for plant development) has become much easier.

The ready-to-use solution of the drug is a stable suspension that adheres well to stems and leaves due to its high viscosity (as experts call this property). And this is very important: sulfur acts more effectively if its vapors are released for a long time in quantities sufficient to achieve a fungicidal effect.

Application in the garden and vegetable garden, which helps

Tiovit Jet is diluted as follows: first, the required dose of the drug is diluted in a small amount of water and constantly mixed to the required volume (5-10 liters). The working solution should be applied on the day of use. During long-term storage, the dry preparation may stick together; in this case, it should be broken into a homogeneous mass or dissolved with vigorous stirring.

Spraying should be done in the morning or evening when the weather is calm.

The protective effect of Tiovit Jet lasts up to 2 weeks (depending on the weather and the degree of damage to the plants). The effect of using the product is noticeable within a few hours after application.

From spider mites

Spraying the vine against spider mites with Tiovit Jet is carried out during the growing season after the first signs of the pest appear. The application rate is 1-1.5 liters per hectare of sown area. Treatment is carried out once.

From strawberry mite

These mites are not visible without a strong magnifying glass, as their size does not exceed 0.3 mm. Pests settle in large colonies at the base of strawberry bushes, scattering throughout the rosettes. They feed on plant juices. Their action leads to deformation or drying of young leaves, poor formation of flower buds, and winter freezing of plants.

Tiovit Jet is excellent for controlling mites on strawberries when the number of pests is not too large (symptoms of strawberry infestation are not too pronounced). If the infestation is large, use other pesticides (Fitoverm Super, Biokill, Kleschegon Super, Fufanon Nova, Aliot).

From what diseases

Thiovit Jet demonstrates high effectiveness for:

  • powdery mildew of grapes, zucchini and roses;
  • “American” gooseberries and currants;
  • oidium on grapes;
  • stem nematode on vegetable crops;
  • hawthorn mite of apple and pear trees;
  • spider mites on vegetables and fruit plants.

The most effective way to apply fungicides is by spraying. The treatment is carried out in the morning or during the day, when there is no strong sunlight; during treatment, try to evenly cover all shoots and leaves with the solution.

Tiovit Jet helps against powdery mildew and spider mites on vegetables and berries.

From rust

The disease is dangerous because it affects more than half of the crown, photosynthesis is disrupted on the leaves, the leaves turn yellow early and fall off. Infected shoots become thick, twisted and stop growing, and some completely wither. The pear tree becomes weak and may freeze in winter, even with slight frosts. Rust also destroys pear fruits. In the southern regions, this fungus causes crop losses from 50 to 100%. In the northern regions, the disease can damage the tree by 20-50%.

From oidium

For prevention, treatment of vineyards with Thiovit is carried out before flowering begins, with subsequent treatments repeated at intervals of 8-10 days. The frequency of procedures depends on the weather.

For treatment, grapes are sprayed with Thiovit when the first symptoms of a fungal infection of the vine appear. The frequency of treatment is 2 times with an interval of 8 days. The application rate is 1-1.5 liters per hectare of planting area.

From powdery mildew

Some strawberry varieties are not resistant enough to infection by this fungus. If it becomes active, yield losses range from 40 to 98%. Sick bushes will have a very bad winter. Symptoms may appear in early spring or later during the flowering and fruiting stages. The leaves, petioles, buds and ovaries are covered with a light coating, as if the bushes were sprinkled with flour. Infected organs gradually die, the berries become deformed and acquire a disgusting taste.

Intended use

The Tiovit Jet treatment will help gardeners, gardeners and florists cope with:

  • spider mites (on cucumbers, flowers);
  • hawthorn mite (on fruit crops - cherry, apple, sloe, cherry plum);
  • powdery mildew (on fruit trees, cucumbers and zucchini, rose bushes);
  • American powdery mildew (on berry bushes - currants, gooseberries);
  • oidium (on grapes);
  • aphids (on all types of garden and vegetable crops);
  • stem nematode (on strawberries, onions and garlic).

Attention. The drug is successfully used in greenhouses and greenhouses to disinfect the soil - per 10 square meters. m area, 100 g of granules diluted in 3 liters of water are consumed.

When to treat in summer

“Tiovit Jet” is diluted as follows: first, the required dose of the drug is diluted in a small amount of water and constantly mixed to the required volume (5-10 liters).

Its effect can be noticed within a few hours after application.

Preparation of Tiovit Jet solution

Before you start processing a garden or vegetable crop, you should carefully read the rules for diluting the drug.

The dosage of the means for preparing the working fluid will depend on:

  • plant varieties;
  • development of the disease;
  • on the age of the culture.

Thiovit Jet solution is prepared as follows:

  • the drug is poured into a container with a small amount of water;
  • the mixture is gently stirred until the granules are completely dissolved;
  • Water is added to the solution to the required amount.

Spraying is carried out in the morning, and the weather should be dry and windless. Leaf blades and stems need to be well moistened, but drops of working fluid should not flow onto the soil.

Important!

Do not dilute fungicidal preparations in containers used for cooking.

Since the drug is rapidly soluble in water, it can be diluted directly in a sprayer. During treatment, shake the sprayer from time to time so that it does not become clogged.

Treatments should be carried out in the morning. It is recommended that there be no rain for the next 5-6 hours after treatment. Then rainwater will not wash the solution off the surface of the plants.

It is recommended to spray at air temperatures not lower than +19 … +20 °C and not higher than +25 … +26 °C. The solution dries and a film forms within 1-2 hours. Insects and fungal spores begin to die within 2-3 hours.

At what time of year should you spray?

The intensive period for the development of fungal diseases is the end of spring or the beginning of summer. It is at this time that the air temperature rises to 25-29 Cº, and humidity reaches 70-80%. Under such conditions, the toxicity of sulfur, the main component of Tiovit Jet, increases. Accordingly, the first spraying is carried out in late May - early June. The effectiveness of the treatment will be higher if the product is applied directly to the affected areas of the leaves.

At a temperature of +18 Cº, oidium spores under the influence of sulfur die after 26-30 hours, at +19 Cº - after a day, at +25-29 Cº - after 4-7 hours

Particular attention should be paid to clusters and leaves growing in the shade. This is where the infection begins.

The next spraying is carried out in the fall, at the end of September - beginning of October.

Instructions for use

Of course, to achieve a positive result, to prevent grapevine disease, treatment must be carried out correctly.

First of all, you need to prepare the mixture correctly and follow the recommendations. Experts say that the fungicide does not harm the environment. To prepare the solution, you only need water and no special skills.

To obtain the desired result, spraying must be carried out in accordance with the instructions. The development of fungal diseases occurs at the end of spring and the beginning of the summer season, when the temperature and humidity rise. Under these conditions, sulfur is at its most toxic, and since it is the main ingredient in the fungicide, it should be applied as soon as possible after preparation.

The first spraying should be carried out in the last days of May, then the effectiveness will be much higher. Leaves affected by fungus should be treated. Once the air temperature reaches +18 degrees Celsius, the spores will begin to die within a day, but if the temperature is around 25-30 degrees, the disease will be controlled in about 6 hours and will not spread in the vineyard. To identify problem areas, pay attention to those leaves and tufts that are in the shade, as this is where infection can begin.

Spraying is also carried out in the fall, on the eve of October.

It is important to remember that the dose should be adjusted according to the severity of the problem. If you are going to fight oidium, 10 liters of water and 80 g of fungicide are enough. But to destroy grape mites, you will need half the active substance. To combat powdery mildew, it is enough to dilute 50 g of the drug in the same amount of water.

The manufacturer's instructions and recommendations are always indicated on the packaging.

If your vineyard is quite large, you may need more pest control products. To speed up the dissolution process, add the granules to a glass of water, and then pour the finished solution into a bucket of sufficient volume. It is not recommended to store the ready-to-use mixture; it should be used almost immediately. If you have previously started spraying with oil-containing preparations, wait two weeks before treating with Tiovit Jet. The waiting period for the drug to take effect is very short, as mentioned above.

As for the amount of solution that may be needed, it depends on the area of the vineyard. An average vine will need about 3 liters of mixture, but if it is larger, the amount of mixture will be larger. It is recommended to spray in the morning or evening, when the sun comes out and the wind subsides. Keep the vineyard dry to prevent the leaves from burning. Do not apply fungicides during the flowering period. By following these simple recommendations, you will protect your crop from destruction.

For grapes

If a disease (oidium) or pest (spider mite) is detected, the grapes are sprayed with a working solution throughout the growing season. The aerosol consumption rate is 10 l/100m2. For strawberries

It has a dual effect: fungicidal and stomicidal. That is, it copes with fungal diseases and pests.

Thiovit Jet is based on sulfur, which provides additional nutrition for the plant, since strawberries also need this macronutrient.

Thiovit Jet is produced in the form of granules, which quickly dissolve in water and form a kind of suspension. It has the following advantages:

  1. Effective against a wide range of diseases.
  2. Provides plant protection for a long period (at least one week).
  3. There is no phytotoxic effect.
  4. High biological activity.

If the gardener is going to use Thiovit Jet, the instructions for use for strawberries indicate that the maximum dose is 1 g per 1 liter of water, so there should be 10 g per bucket. It should not be stored for a long time and should be used on the same day.

For currants, gooseberries

Berry bushes (currants, gooseberries, raspberries) can be protected with Tiovit Jet not only from powdery mildew, but also from herbivorous mites (for example, cashews). Sulfur has low toxicity for bees; it is advisable to isolate them during daytime treatment; the hazard class of the drug is class 3.

Sulfur has different effects on beneficial entomophages: for pteromalids it is non-toxic, for larvae of lacewings and hymenoptera of the ichneumonidae family it is slightly toxic, for predatory mites it is mild to highly toxic.

The drug "Tiovit Jet" is not toxic to the spores and mycelium of Trichoderma lignorum, Trichoderma viridae and Trichoderma roseum.

Precautionary measures

Although Thiovit Jet is not toxic, it is nevertheless a chemical that should not be used without some kind of protection. Before preparing the solution, put on overalls, rubber boots, gloves and, of course, a respirator. If a sulfur-containing substance comes into contact with exposed skin, an allergic reaction may occur, and in some people even eczema. Caution should always be used when handling vermin sprayers. Of course, sometimes the substance can get on the skin, so it must be washed off immediately with clean water.

Do not mix this product with other products as a chemical reaction may occur which may have adverse effects.

Make sure that there are no other additives in the container where the solution is being prepared.

Keep children, pets and birds away when spraying. If any residue remains after work, dispose of it properly. The procedure should be performed carefully, observing all safety precautions. The drug should not drip onto the soil; if this happens, it is better to use a solution of water and baking soda, treat the soil with it, and then dig it up.

Now you know all the useful information about the fungicide, its properties and how it works. All that remains is to stock up on the required amount of the drug, prepare the solution and treat the vineyard area with it - and then a bountiful harvest is guaranteed.

Pros and cons of the drug

This drug is widely used both in personal plots and in growing various garden and vegetable crops on an industrial scale.

Among the obvious advantages of Tiovit Jet it should be noted:

  • high efficiency when used in the garden;
  • easy to dilute and apply;
  • widely used in areas where only environmentally friendly products are grown without the use of mineral preparations;
  • the drug Tiovit Jet is not phytotoxic;
  • not prone to ignition;
  • no dust is generated from the product during processing;
  • the product will dissolve perfectly in liquid, forming a homogeneous solution;
  • Thiovit Jet is well sprayed over the surface of the foliage and adheres to it without adhesives;
  • not washed away by rain;
  • does not penetrate plant cells and fruits, is not toxic to humans, so it can be used to treat plants almost until the fruit is harvested;
  • it is possible to process simultaneously with biological products;
  • The shelf life of Tiovit Jet is up to 3 seasons from the date of manufacture;
  • affordable price.

Among the disadvantages of Teovit Jet, the following should be noted:

:

  • the protective properties of the drug last no more than 1.5 weeks, so it is necessary to frequently treat plants;
  • specific “aroma” of sulfur during treatments;
  • due to the fact that the fungicide contains sulfur, plants can only be treated at an air temperature of 20 to 27 degrees Celsius;
  • when treating plants with this product in extreme heat, traces of chemical burns may remain on the foliage and shoots, and when
  • at temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius, the effectiveness of using Tiovit Jet drops sharply;
  • if it comes into contact with the skin or mucous membranes, the drug may cause irritation or an allergic reaction.

Storage rules

Tiovit Jet should be stored away from food and medicine, in a dark, dry place, at a temperature of 10 to 40°C. The fungicide has a shelf life of 3 years if conditions are carefully observed.

The working solution of Tiovit Jet is prepared for 1 time, the remainder is drained.

The working solution must be used within 24 hours. It quickly loses its beneficial properties and cannot be stored. If there is liquid fungicide left in the tank after spraying, simply throw it away.

Compatibility with other drugs that can be mixed with

Although Tiovit Jet is not compatible with other mite control products on grapevines, it is still used in combination with some on-farm products.

The following precautions must be observed:

  1. Under no circumstances should Tiovit Jet be used when applying solutions based on oil. It is best to refrain from using oil-based formulations for two weeks or after two weeks.
  2. Do not combine chemicals such as Thiovit Jet and Captan. The result could be catastrophic.
  3. Always check the expiration date.

If the grower is forced to use two different drugs and does not know what the result of their reaction may be, it is better to use them separately. At the same time, observe what happens during spraying. The reaction may last for several days. If incompatibility is found, it is better not to use the products together at all.

If you correctly follow all the tips and instructions for growing, the gardener will eventually receive a high harvest of grapes. As a result, the vine will be protected from diseases and other troubles. The main rule is to follow all points of the instructions so that the protection is complete.

Advantages and disadvantages

Compared to its competitors, Tiovit Jet has a number of advantages:

non-phytotoxic;

universal use for many plants;

ease of use;

service life is significantly increased;

the useful life of ripening fruits is significantly reduced;

does not ignite.

The product has no significant drawbacks, but some gardeners note that Tiovit Jet is washed off quite easily by rain. It also has a strong and pungent sulfur odor, often leading to irritation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.

Scope of use and principle of operation

Tiovit Jet is used as an acaricide and fungicide.

According to its composition, it has a two-way effect:

  • Fights powdery mildew and most fungal plant diseases;
  • Destroys some types of mites that live on garden crops;

The product is classified as a monopesticide. This means that the chemical contains only one toxic agent. In the case of Thiovit, it is divalent sulfur. This chemical stops the production of substances in the plant that serve as food for harmful fungi. Modified sulfur also facilitates the removal of hydrogen from plants, which accelerates their growth.

Reviews

Maria, 44 years old, Samara region:

I have been using the drug Tiovit Jet for several years to treat vegetables in the beds. Usually in the spring, as a preventive measure, I treat them with Thiovit solution, as a result of which tomatoes and cucumbers are not affected by powdery mildew and a number of other fungal diseases during the season. Very effective product, I recommend it.

Olga, 50 years old, Volgograd region:

For several years in a row, my fruit trees suffered from powdery mildew, I tried many drugs, but the imported fungicide Tiovit Jet turned out to be the most effective. After several treatments, powdery mildew disappeared from apple and pear trees, but for preventive purposes I still treat the trees twice a year - in early spring and late autumn - with Tiovit Jet.
