A visit to the Theater is always a holiday for children and adults! This time we were lucky enough to get to see the Japanese fairy tale “Sword of the Samurai”. We prepared for this performance: we watched a video about Japan, read Japanese fairy tales.

I knew that the performance would recreate the Land of the Rising Sun, so I wanted the children to have an idea about it. And, as always, Theatrium was at its best. The samurai sword is not just a show! This is a journey through time and space.

Here we see the traditional way of life of one of the Japanese villages, we hear authentic Japanese melodies performed live, real water flows on the stage - one of the main characters of the play, and the costumes, makeup, and scenery create the feeling that we are really in Japan.

My boys, including dad, love sword fighting. But this is a performance not only for “boys”. It will be equally interesting to girls, because it is the samurai girl who is the main character of the fairy tale. And how the little Japanese girl plays in the play! It’s just a miracle how spontaneous and sweet she is.

It is most convenient to place them in a checkerboard pattern, in two rows. The optimal distance between tomatoes is 45–50 cm, row spacing is 65–75 cm. However, there are also varieties with particularly powerful bushes - the so-called tomato trees, or standard tomatoes. In this case, the interval between plants is at least 80–90 cm, and between rows - 1–1.2 m.

Upon reaching a height of 45–50 cm, the bushes begin to be tied up. The support must be strong enough and securely fastened, because the total weight of the crop is quite significant. You cannot use thin wire or twine for tying - the stems will be cut or frayed.

Removing stepchildren

Throughout the growing season, indeterminate tomatoes regularly, once every 10–12 days, remove shoots growing in the axils of the leaves—stepchildren. If they have not yet reached a length of 5–7 cm, you can simply break them out. Otherwise, they are cut with sharp scissors as close as possible to the growth point. This is a mandatory procedure, otherwise the greenhouse will quickly turn into something reminiscent of impenetrable thickets in the jungle, and the fruits on the bushes, “overloaded” with green mass, will grow very little - they simply will not have enough nutrition.

Bush formation

Formation can be carried out in two ways:

  • in one stem;
  • steps.

The easiest way to form a bush is in one stem. It is as follows:

  • regularly remove all developing stepsons and side shoots, leaving only the fruit clusters;
  • All leaves located below the first bunch of tomatoes are also cut off. But you shouldn’t be overzealous with this - a maximum of three sheets are removed at a time;
  • when grown in open ground at the end of July or in the first half of August (depending on the climate in the region), the stem is pinched so that already formed tomatoes have time to ripen before frost.

When properly formed into one stem, tomatoes take up very little space

Experienced gardeners also advise removing the two lowest racemes when forming the first inflorescences. Practice shows that tomatoes of most varieties ripen on them for a very long time. By getting rid of them in a timely manner, you can increase the number of fruit ovaries and speed up the ripening process of tomatoes located higher up the stem.

Step formation is somewhat more complicated. It is carried out this way:

  1. During the active growing season, the main shoot is replaced several times by a lateral shoot. The first time the stepson is left in the axil of the fourth or fifth leaf, choosing the most developed one.
  2. As soon as fruits set on the side shoot, pinch off the main stem, leaving 2-3 leaves above the last cluster.
  3. After this, the stepson begins to lead as the main escape.
  4. If it reaches the ceiling of the greenhouse, somewhere in the lower third of its stem you can save another stepson by pinching the new “mother” shoot too.

Eggplant is very popular in Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine. In Ukraine, although eggplant does not occupy a large segment of the market, it is also widely used for preparing all kinds of dishes. Many farmers and consumers traditionally call eggplants “blue” for the dark blue color of the fruit.

There are various shapes of eggplants on the market: spherical, pear-shaped, cylindrical, flattened, curved and snake-shaped. And the color of the fruit, depending on the variety, can be white, pink, striped, blue, brown, yellow, purple and dark purple, almost black. Weight varies from 40 g to 1 kg. For the Ukrainian consumer, the cylindrical and pear-shaped shape, dark purple color of the fruit and weight of 200-250 g are most common.

Let's consider the most successful hybrids of the new generation, with improved indicators of early ripeness, yield, marketability and taste, resistance to diseases and stressful growing conditions.

Eggplant Samurai F1. Ukrainian farmers, who began growing this hybrid several years ago, are systematically increasing its production volumes from season to season. The hybrid is steadily gaining popularity. What are its strengths? This is early ripening and high growth energy. The hybrid is very powerful, of the hand type, producing 3-4 fruits on each hand. Not subject to lodging. It sets fruit perfectly, despite external conditions, it does not shed the ovary. Productivity is high. Fruits steadily, very abundantly and for a long time, until frost. Ripening is early and friendly. The dense, creamy-white pulp is tender and tasty, without bitterness, and there are very few small seeds.

The cylindrical shape of the fruit is excellent for home preparation (preservation). Since the fruits retain their shape, the pulp does not fall apart during heat treatment. In addition, this is an ideal shape for cutting into rings (washers) since the core does not fall out. And to taste too! It’s not for nothing that vegetarians call eggplant “meat.”

Samurai fruits are beautiful, marketable, neat, glossy, fleshy, dense, uniform and even in shape, ripening in clusters. The color is classic, dark purple. The skin of the fruit is not hard. The length of the fruit is 20-23 cm, weight up to 230 g. The pulp is creamy-white, aromatic, very tasty, without bitterness. There are few seeds, they are very small. The skin of the fruit is not hard. The calyx of the fruit is green.

Due to its high marketability and quality, the fruits of this eggplant sell well on the market. The hybrid is adapted to various growing conditions. This is a very flexible and stable eggplant.
