Pepper varieties of tomatoes: distinctive features of common types

Eros tomatoes have a juicy sweet taste and are perfect for homemade preparations. They have an unusual elongated shape, somewhat similar to bell peppers. Tomatoes were bred by Czech breeders and have good immune properties.

Tomatoes are not afraid of temperature changes: they can be grown both in a greenhouse and in open ground.

Tomatoes of the Eros variety have the same beneficial properties as other representatives of this crop. The fruits contain a large amount of useful substances, vitamins A, B, C, E, magnesium, calcium, pectin, folic acid and other nutrients. Eating tomatoes normalizes the functioning of the cardiovascular system, prevents the accumulation of poisons and toxic substances in the blood, and even fights malignant cells. Tomatoes must be given to children to strengthen the immune system.

Description and characteristics of the variety

One of the notable features of the variety is its high yield. The fruits ripen in bunches of 5-7 tomatoes. The bush is formed into three stems to avoid breakage from the weight of the brushes. The stem reaches up to 2 meters in height and has a strong trunk.

The variety is mid-season; the planting period is 60 days before planting in the ground. Tomatoes are immune to many tomato diseases and also show high resistance to pests and insects.

This variety has a unique sweet taste with a slight sour aftertaste. The tomato pulp is orange-red in color and contains virtually no seeds.

The weight of one fruit is about 200 grams. This variety is often used for pickling due to its hard, elastic skin. It does not tear or crack. Eros can be dried and pickled.

Growing

The variety is grown from seeds. Seeds can be purchased at gardening fairs or collected from tomatoes yourself.

To collect seeds from fruits, it is necessary to select the largest tomatoes. The seeds are removed from them into a container, then the container with the pulp is left to be stored for several days in a dark, dry place. Mold forms on the seeds. Thus, disinfection occurs and their immunity is formed. The container lid is not completely closed: the contents require constant access to oxygen. 3-4 days after mold formation, the seeds sink to the bottom of the container. You need to separate the mold from the seeds. For this, use a fine sieve. The contents of the container are diluted with clean water and filtered through a sieve. The seeds remain on the surface. They are dried for several days to remove excess moisture and stored in a dark place.

To plant seeds in the ground, peat pots are used to grow seedlings. These can be purchased from garden supplies. Seeds are placed in a pot to a depth of no more than 1 centimeter and sprinkled with soil. There is no need to press down the soil; this will create difficulties during germination. The container with the planted seeds is placed in a warm place with a temperature of at least 25 degrees Celsius.

After the first shoots appear, the soil must be watered every day for the first week. Watering is carried out moderately, avoiding waterlogging of the soil. The condition of the seedlings is checked every day, an additional lighting source is installed, if possible.

When the seedlings grow to 15 centimeters in height, they can be transplanted into greenhouse soil or open ground. Tomatoes are planted outside after the May holidays, when the cold weather has finally subsided. Planting in the greenhouse is carried out 2 weeks earlier. Before transplanting, the tomatoes are allowed to get used to the outside air temperature. The seedlings are placed for several days in a greenhouse or on the veranda, or on a glazed balcony. As soon as the young plants acclimatize, planting begins.

The soil for planting must be prepared in advance. It is loosened and the acidity is checked. If the soil is acidic, add a little dolomite lime to alkalize it. In case of high alkalinity, a small amount of granulated sulfur should be added to lower the pH.

To plant tomatoes, form a hole: dig a hole no more than 50 centimeters deep, and lay compost or other organic matter on the bottom. Fertilizer will help the plant take root and ensure high growth and productivity. The young bush is placed in the hole and covered with earth, and watered from above. No more than 4 plants are planted per 1 square meter. After planting, the tomatoes are left for a week in complete peace. After a week, the tomato trunks should get stronger and straighten. This fact indicates that all plants have successfully taken root.

The taste and yield of the variety directly depends on the care of the plants. Tomatoes are regularly watered, the leaves are sprayed, and the soil is loosened. To prevent diseases and pests, protective agents are used. They can be purchased at a gardening store or made at home yourself. Garlic infusion or onion decoction are excellent pest control products.

The soil must be fed once every 2-3 weeks with mineral fertilizers. Sometimes mullein and chicken manure are used; they contain many nutrients for tomatoes.

If grown successfully, tomatoes begin to bear fruit at the end of July. In open ground, the fruits ripen later - by mid-August.

Description of tomato Eros

Among the huge variety of tomato species, tall plants have recently been distinguished. At first glance, it may seem that caring for such giants may cause difficulties for beginners or experienced gardeners. But in fact, there is nothing easier than growing such a big, sweet, juicy, fleshy giant. This selection includes the tomato variety Eros .

The Eros tomato has an unusual name and an equally interesting oblong, pepper-shaped shape. The color of the fruit ranges from bright yellow to orange, reminiscent of the summer sun. This tomato belongs to a number of fruitful varieties, giving abundant growth during the season. A tall plant, sometimes reaching a height of more than 2 meters. The length of the vegetable is about 10 centimeters, and the weight ranges up to 150 grams. It is considered mid-season, 110-115 days from the ovary of flowers to the first shoots. One cluster sometimes grows up to 8 fruits. The fruit has a strong tail, which allows the tomato to hold tightly and not fall off during ripening. The flesh is fleshy, sweetish, the skin is dense, but not thick, which guarantees safe transportation without damage. Stored for three weeks. Belongs to salad-type varieties, suitable for canning, pickling, drying, freezing. Resistant to various types of pathogenic fungi, does not require maximum power expenditure. It is planted in greenhouses and has the ability to bear fruit until cold weather.

Full characteristics of the Eros tomato

Every gardener prepares in advance for the planting season. Prepares the soil, determines the planting site, and stores high-quality seeds. Thus, tomatoes are a favorite vegetable among summer residents. They contain many useful vitamins, serve as an antioxidant, improve heart function, purify the blood, have a spicy taste, and are used in cooking. Of the wide variety of varieties, Eros tomatoes, which are presented in the photo of our website, are liked by many. The description of the Eros tomato shows that the plant is tall and has its own planting characteristics. This type has a number of advantages.

  1. It does not require much space for planting, which saves land resources and time for cultivation.
  2. The harvest can be harvested until late autumn.
  3. A well-groomed view of a vegetable garden from large plants planted in rows.

The soil should be prepared in the fall, fertilized with organic fertilizers, and loosened. If you are going to germinate seeds for seedlings, they should be planted 60-65 days before the planned transplant into the ground, having previously prepared:

  • germinate in water;
  • treat with fertilizers.

For 1 sq. m it is recommended to distribute up to 3 plants. It is better to plant seedlings in the afternoon so that direct rays of the sun do not damage the leaves. Water generously, but do not overwater, to prevent rotting of the roots, and also loosen the soil to allow outside air to enter. The harvest should be done when the tomatoes turn brown, and the tomatoes should be picked with the stalks on, which will lead to the accelerated growth of a new ovary. Growing will not be a hassle with proper care. Follow the basic rules and you will get excellent results from your work.

Numerous reviews of Eros tomatoes speak about the merits of this variety. A unique appearance, according to some opinions, reminiscent of a banana, excellent taste, the ability to make various savory dishes: canning, tomato pastes, juices and much more. Not picky about care, easy to grow, huge fruits, large harvest per season, long-term storage. They do not crack in the sun, are resistant to overripening, and have a small number of seeds.

High-quality seeds are the key to a good, stable harvest. On our website we can help you choose only selected, first-class products.

Maria, Vladimir region said: “Eros is a unique variety. It was the first time I saw such beautiful and unusual tomatoes. I liked it. Tastes sweet and juicy. They are more suitable for preparations, but you can easily cut them into a salad. There were a lot of tomatoes, the variety has a really high yield.”

Unusual varieties of tomatoes

The next two varieties have interesting, very characteristic banana-shaped fruits. The tomatoes are dense, but somewhat dry - because of this, the taste of fresh fruit is not too rich. But the preparations turn out excellent.

Tomato Auria

Tall, mid-late productive variety. A description of the Auria tomato is given as a liana-like plant, reaching 2 m, which grows into 2 stems. Relatively thin, not powerful shoots require timely garter. The clusters with fruits are large – up to a dozen, less often – up to 20 fruits. Of these, 4-5 are large, the rest are medium and small. The average length of the fruit is 12-14 cm. The average weight is 60-80 g, can reach up to 150 g.

Tomatoes of the Auria variety are distinguished by their characteristic shape - elongated fruits with a slightly forked end. Fleshy, with two seed chambers with a few small seeds evenly spaced along the fruit.

The description of the variety defines the taste qualities that the Auria tomato has as freshish, even rather dry.

The excess dry matter makes the variety suitable for transportation and canning whole or in the form of pastes and sauces.

The reviews left about the Auria tomato emphasize the excellent taste of preparations made from it. Thus, the paste does not need to be boiled for a long time, since the fruit does not contain too much water, and it turns out tender and sweet. And whole fruits are conveniently placed in jars and do not crack.

Tomato Eros

An absolute analogue of Auria, repeating the original shape of its fruits - the same elongated, forked at the end. The difference is in color - if Auria is red, then tomatoes of the Eros variety are orange, and they are somewhat smaller.

The variety is mid-season, ripens in 111-115 days. Resistant to various diseases. The bush is vigorous, up to 1.8-2 m. Formation of 3 stems is preferable. The variety is super-yielding. The clusters contain 5-7 fruits, sometimes up to 10, up to 150 g in weight.

The dense fruits are bright orange in color, contain few seeds (occasionally they are slightly hollow), and are resistant to overripening and cracking. Universal - good both raw and for whole-fruit canning. The fruits are stored for up to 2-3 weeks. Look at the article: Black tomatoes: the best varieties, their brief quality characteristics.
