Description of the chocolate Monisto tomato and its other varieties

Description of the chocolate Monisto tomato and its other varieties

Many housewives love to grow tomatoes in their summer cottages that produce small fruits, for example the chocolate Monisto tomato or its other varieties.
They are distinguished by the formation of long clusters on which neat small tomatoes are located. They are optimally suited for canning whole fruits and vegetable salads, where you can add fruits whole or in halves. Often small varieties that produce long clusters are characterized by high yields. Therefore, they are very popular with gardeners who do not have a large area where they could plant less fruitful varieties.

The Monisto variety has several varieties that produce pink, yellow, chocolate and even emerald fruits. The yield will be high in any case. The only difference between these subspecies is that the fruits may be slightly larger or smaller in weight. Otherwise, including caring for the plant during cultivation, the requirements will be the same.

Is it worth planting this variety?

Most gardeners are accustomed to the fact that ordinary red and medium-sized tomatoes grow in their beds. They are great for canning, and many thanks to their pleasant taste and for making salads. Nevertheless, more and more often in the garden beds of Russian summer residents one can find tomatoes of somewhat unusual colors, that is, yellow, orange, purple and even green. These tomatoes have many positive qualities.

If ordinary red and pink tomatoes help in the treatment of heart disease, actively fight osteoporosis, senile dementia and even cancer, then yellow and orange fruits have additional advantages. In particular, it is worth noting that they are hypoallergenic.

They are even suitable for feeding babies prone to allergies. Yellow tomatoes contain a large amount of lycopene, which quickly cleanses the blood of toxins and waste.

Benefits of colorful tomatoes

Everyone knows about the benefits of red and pink tomatoes. They help in the treatment and prevention of:

  • diseases of the heart and blood vessels;
  • osteoporosis;
  • senile dementia;
  • ophthalmological pathologies;
  • oncological diseases.

Red fruits contain active substances that elevate mood and stimulate important processes in the human body.
And yellow tomatoes are useful for those who may have allergic reactions to red foods. They contain a high content of lycopene, which restores the composition of the blood and cleanses the body of waste and toxins. Characteristics of chocolate varieties contain such qualities of tomatoes as protection against the development of cancer cells, strengthening the immune system during flu and cold epidemics.

The description of the benefits of greenish tomatoes includes their property:

  • relieve fatigue;
  • stimulate muscle growth;
  • reduce the risk of fractures;
  • prevent muscle atrophy.

By growing varietal varieties of Monisto, a person will improve his health and make himself invulnerable to diseases.

Description and characteristics of the variety

Tomato bushes are of an indeterminate type and grow up to 2 meters. They have medium foliage, form long clusters of 20-30 tomatoes, which ripen 110-120 days after germination of the plantings. This corresponds to a mid-season or mid-early variety. The fruits are small, 25-35 g each, maximum 50 g. They have a plum-shaped oval shape, shiny skin and a rich chocolate color. They taste sweet, have a pleasant aroma, juicy and tasty.

Dark tomatoes contain anthocyanins, which help fight aging and reduce the risk of disease.

This is a mid-early, semi-determinate, unpretentious tomato variety for greenhouses and open ground.

The bush is powerful, about 1.2-1.5 meters high; it requires tying to a support or trellis. The brush is placed through the sheet. It is best to form a plant into 2-3 stems.

photo by Maya Zhuravel

The fruits are round in shape, slightly flattened, brown in color at maturity, weighing 200-400 grams, fleshy, sweet and very tasty. These tomatoes are good for fresh salads and making juice and sauce.

Productivity: 4.2 kg of fruits per 1 square meter of plot (subject to agricultural practices).

Advantages of the variety: resistance to major tomato diseases, good presentation of the fruit. The disadvantage is the average yield.

Features of cultivation and storage

Our technology for growing tomatoes of different varieties is as follows.
On our plot we allocate 6 long rows for tomatoes (including closed soil). On three of them, representatives of the best varieties of tomatoes, proven over the years, are grown (there are also tomatoes to choose from), guaranteeing a harvest according to the declared characteristics (regardless of the “delights” of the weather), and the other three are planted with new varieties, which are “considered” this way and that in during the above time. That seems to be it. PS To make life easier for readers and reduce the time it takes to absorb the article, instead of determining the yield of vegetables in kg per 1 square meter, it will be written below - kg “per square”.

And now I am announcing the number of tomatoes tested in growing, presented below for your viewing, which can still be called the best - 60 varieties.

PS The results were recorded in an area that: with a good warm season, corresponds to the Central Black Earth region (region), and with a bad warm season, corresponds to the North-Western region. Naturally, this range of latitudes in which the above regions are located definitely includes Siberia, the Moscow region, the Middle Zone, the Urals, the Far East, and then figure out for yourself where exactly the paths lead to your site.

Bushes should be kept in 1 or 2 stems. A support or trellis is required.

Seeds are sown in March to be planted in the greenhouse in May, and in the garden in early June. Pre-treatment against viruses and bacteria is necessary. The seed material is immersed in a weak solution of potassium permanganate for half an hour. If you repeat the procedure using a solution of Epin or Zircon, the bushes will be more powerful and the yield will be higher.

Before transplanting into the ground, seedlings are hardened off.

For 1 sq. It is recommended to place no more than 3 plants. They are watered in the morning or evening with settled water, fertilized regularly, the soil is loosened and weeds are weeded.

Growing seedlings

Monisto rosea is grown in seedlings. Sowing begins 60 days before planting in a permanent place. Before growing, some gardeners prefer to check whether the lunar day is suitable for these purposes. According to the method, sowing planting material is favorable in Scorpio days.

Seed treatment

Seeds purchased at the store should be checked for expiration dates. If planting material is collected from your own harvest, remove all darkened and damaged specimens.

If the grains have not been pickled in the factory, this is done at home. To do this, they are soaked in one of the following:

  • for half an hour in a light pink solution of potassium permanganate (1 g of potassium permanganate per 100 ml of water);
  • for a quarter of an hour in hydrogen peroxide;
  • for 12 hours in a solution of soda (1 teaspoon per 1 glass of water);
  • for 12 hours in a mixture of water and aloe juice in equal proportions;
  • for 6 hours at Fitosporin.

After preventive treatment, the seeds are washed under running water. Then dry with a paper towel.

To speed up the appearance of the first shoots, stimulate seed growth in one of the following ways:

  1. Soaking in water. The grains are wrapped in gauze napkins moistened with warm water. Rags with planting material are placed in a saucer, covered with film and placed in a warm place. As the liquid dries, add more liquid. Seeds are planted after germination. This takes 3 days.
  2. Soaking in a purchased growth stimulant: Epine, Zircon, sodium humate. The processing time for planting material is indicated in the instructions.
  3. Soaking in folk remedies: aloe juice, honey water (1 teaspoon of honey per 1 cup of water). The duration of the procedure is 12 hours.
  4. Cold treatment. The seeds are placed in the refrigerator for 5 days, then transferred to a warm place for 1 day and planted.

Preparing containers and soil

The soil for tomatoes is chosen to be nutritious but light. It is prepared from equal proportions of peat, humus, black soil and sand. Tomatoes do not like acidic soil, so when the pH is high, ash is added to it.

Stores sell ready-made soil. For tomatoes, use a universal mixture for seedlings. The earth is disinfected by pouring a strong solution of potassium permanganate (5 g per 100 ml of water) or boiling water, or calcined in the oven.

As containers for sowing seeds, choose special boxes, trays or other containers of suitable size. If you plan to sow a small amount of seeds, it is advisable to use peat tablets.

Containers are also disinfected. To do this, just soak them for half an hour in a dark pink solution of potassium permanganate.

Sowing in boxes and peat tablets

Often the seeds of Monisto rosea are planted in peat tablets. They do this as follows:

  1. The tablets are placed in a deep container and soaked in boiling water. Water will be absorbed into the pressed blanks and they will swell. If necessary, add new liquid to the container.
  2. When the tablets swell (they should form bags of soil substrate), they are removed from the container, turned upside down and excess liquid is allowed to drain.
  3. In the peat of each bag, 1 seed is buried 1 cm using a toothpick. Tablets with seeds are placed in one deep container, covered with film and put in a warm place.

Growing

Cultivating the Chocolate Miracle variety is no different from growing other species. Therefore, even without experience, you can get a good harvest of quality fruits.

Growing seedlings

The best time to plant Chocolate Miracle tomato seeds is the last days of March or the beginning of April. As containers, you can use wooden boxes, trays with cells or ordinary pots. The substrate is prepared independently or purchased special soil for seedlings.

Before use, it must be spilled with a solution of potassium permanganate for disinfection. The seeds are carefully sorted, discarding empty and damaged grains. For rapid germination, they can be soaked in a solution of a growth stimulator, strictly following the recommendations on the package.

Attention! When sowing, use a 11 cm pattern. Afterwards, they are sprinkled with a layer of soil and watered with a spray bottle.

The top of the container is tightly sealed with transparent film or glass.

The room is maintained at a constant temperature ranging from + 23 to + 25 °C. When the first sprouts are visible, the shelter is removed and the container is transferred to a brighter place where the seedlings will receive direct rays of the sun. The temperature is reduced to + 14-15 °C. The plants are kept in such conditions for about a week so that the stems do not stretch too much.

Then the temperature is raised to room temperature. 7 days before planting Chocolate Miracle tomatoes in the ground, they begin to harden them. The container is taken out into the air every day and accustomed to daily temperature changes.

Landing rules

Chocolate Miracle tomatoes are transferred to the garden only when all the frosts have passed. For every 1 m2 of land, no more than 3 bushes are planted. If there is still a threat of frost in early May, the transplanted tomatoes are immediately covered with film. This will not only help protect the plants, but also increase productivity.

Watering and fertilizing

Soil moisture should be moderate. Excess moisture causes roots to rot, and mold develops on the ground and bushes. More abundant watering of Chocolate Miracle tomatoes is permissible only in dry summers and during the formation of the ovary. The procedure is carried out either early in the morning or after sunset.

During the entire growth period, only three feedings are needed. The first - 14 days after planting, it can be nitrogen fertilizers, ash or urea to stimulate the growth of bushes. The second is at the very beginning of flowering. At this stage, complexes with a high content of phosphorus and potassium are used. The third is when the fruits appear. The tops need to be sprayed with growth stimulants (“Boroplus” or “Ovary”).

Attention! In order for the roots of Chocolate Miracle tomatoes to receive a sufficient amount of oxygen and moisture, the top layer of soil must be loosened regularly. Otherwise, a hard crust will form on the surface.

Periodic mulching will help retain moisture in the soil.

Pinching and tying

During the flowering period, side shoots actively appear on the main stem of Chocolate Miracle tomatoes. They need to be cut off. This procedure is carried out approximately once every two weeks. With regular pinching, the bushes do not thicken and are not depleted of additional shoots. As a result, the fruits of Chocolate Miracle tomatoes are larger.

To further strengthen the bush, it is tied to supports. This will make it easier for the stems to support the weight of leaves and ripe tomatoes. As the fruits ripen, the branches are tied to strong pegs.

Formation

Usually the Chocolate Miracle tomato bush is formed into two stems. When the first 2 stepsons appear, one of them is removed and the second is left. An additional stem will develop from it.

The stepsons that sprout under the first flower cluster are the strongest.

Protection from diseases and pests

Chocolate miracle tomatoes are rarely affected by mosaic, gray mold or late blight. As a preventative measure, regularly inspect bushes and leaves. At the first signs of the disease, it is necessary to immediately treat the tops with solutions of biofungicides or Bordeaux mixture. When preparing the solution, you must strictly follow the instructions. It is advisable to carry out preventive treatments every 14 days.

The most common pests that attack are the Colorado potato beetle, aphids and wireworms. In such cases, treatment with special preparations will help. The most effective are Fufanon, Quadris and Aktara. You can also use folk remedies. For this purpose, infusions based on wormwood and onion peels are used. For ½ liter of boiling water take 2-3 tbsp. l. raw materials and infuse for 24 hours. The liquid is filtered and used for spraying.

Growing Requirements

Tomato seeds are planted 60-65 days before transplanting into the greenhouse. Before obtaining strong shoots, it is necessary to disinfect the seed material and soak it in a growth stimulator. The soil also needs a disinfection procedure. This is the only way to protect the plant from diseases. Place containers with seedlings in a warm place, well lit. Properly organized watering and fertilizing will allow you to get powerful bushes of tomato seedlings at the end of April and May.

The Monisto rosea tomato and its varieties are planted in the greenhouse in early May, placing three or four plants per square meter

It is important to comply with the care requirements for indeterminate tomatoes:

  1. Water moderately as the top layer of soil dries.
  2. Fertilizing is organized every two weeks, adding organic substances in the form of mullein, minerals - in the form of superphosphate, potassium salt, ammonium nitrate. You can add a little wood ash to each hole before planting.
  3. Two weeks after planting, treat the tomato bushes with a solution of Bordeaux mixture.
  4. Tall tomatoes need a garter, which is repeated three times a season as the bushes grow.
  5. Indeterminates are usually formed into one or two stems, removing the remaining stepsons by breaking them off.
  6. At the end of July, the top of the main stem of the tomatoes is pinched, leaving two or three leaves above the top cluster.

Reviews about growing the Monisto variety of tomatoes are only positive: they are undemanding in care. It is necessary to carry out pinching so that the yields from one bush are larger. The description of the variety includes the excellent taste of cherry tomatoes, their decorative properties, and versatility of use.

Description of tomatoes variety Monisto

In the last few years, vegetables of the tomato family, which produce small but quite tasty fruits, have gained active popularity. The most common type of this category is the Monisto chocolate tomato. This variety is characterized by having multi-colored fruits. Most often, Monisto is pink, chocolate and amber.

Description of tomatoes variety Monisto

Characteristics of the variety

All types of this variety: pink, chocolate and amber Monisto were bred in Russia. The breeders who created this variety tried to develop not so much a fruitful, but a tasty variety of tomatoes. Fortunately, all their efforts were crowned with success.

Description of the plant

All varieties of this group have an indeterminate bush character. The description and characteristics of the variety indicate that the height of the bush varies around 180-200 cm. The foliage of the bush is moderate. The leaves are small in size and have a dark shade of green.

There is a slight roughness on the surface of the leaf and small bumps may form. The bush is capable of independently forming into 1 stem. All fruits are formed in clusters. One bunch can produce about two dozen small fruits.

Description of the fruit

The Monisto amber tomato is characterized by having relatively small weight parameters. On average, the weight of an individual ripe fruit is about 30 g. Their taste is predominantly sweet, slightly reminiscent of a plum. Tomato Monisto Pink has a slightly higher weight than amber ones. Weight is about 50 g. The taste is rich, with a lot of sugar. Due to the fact that the fruits have a fairly high concentration of iodine and beneficial vitamins, these tomatoes have a positive effect on all processes of the human body.

Emerald tomatoes are characterized not only by their unusual colors. The shape of such fruits resembles an oval, and the weight does not exceed 30 g. Quite often, such fruits are consumed fresh or prepared from them in salads. They can also be used to make desserts. In addition, they are often preserved for the winter. It is in this form that all the taste qualities of tomatoes are revealed.

Advantages and disadvantages

If we consider the description and characteristics of the variety, we can highlight a number of positive qualities:

  • versatility in application;
  • high yield rates for this species: about 2-2.5 kg of selected tomatoes are harvested from 1 bush;

  • resistance to most diseases.

The main disadvantage is the fact that Monisto has a very difficult time withstanding sudden climate changes.

Growing rules

When planting plants, keep a distance

Every gardener knows the fact that productivity depends entirely on the efforts made to grow and care for the plant.

Therefore, it is very important to know all the planting rules. First of all, the seeds are planted

This should be done several months before the seedlings are placed in the greenhouse. Seeds should be treated in advance with special substances that will help disinfect the seed material. This allows you to improve your immune system.

Containers should be located in a place where there is plenty of light and moderate temperatures. The ideal temperature is 22-25 °C. Planting in a greenhouse is carried out in such a way that there are no more than 3 plants per 1 m2.

Watering should be carried out only when the soil is already dry. Abundant moisture negatively affects the development of the root system and stem. Feeding should be done every 14 days. It is best if you use organic matter in the form of humus. As minerals, preference should be given to superphosphates, potassium salts and ammonium nitrate.

Do not forget that 14 days after planting the seedlings, each bush is treated with Bordeaux solution. Tomatoes like Monisto need regular staking

It is also very important to form a bush with 1-2 stems. All side shoots should be broken off

In mid-summer, the top part of the plant should be pinched and only a few leaves should be left.

Prevention measures

The description and characteristics of the variety convince us that this variety copes quite well with the invasion of diseases and parasites. But such parameters should not allow you to ignore preventive measures.

Features of the Monisto tomato variety

The tomatoes that bear fruit from the Monisto amber tomato have a small mass - from twenty to thirty grams. They look like plums, fragrant, sweet. The pink ones have slightly larger fruits, weighing forty or fifty grams. But they differ in their sugar pulp. A little history

The tomato is the fruit of a perennial nightshade plant called tomato.

This word and the plant itself came to Russia from France, and to France from Italy, presumably in the 16th century. In Italy, the plants were called pomo d'oro - “golden apple” and they were yellow-sunny in color, because this is how the Mays and Aztecs grew them, believing that “tomatli” were sent to them by the solar goddess of medicine, health and healing - Ishtilton (Ichtilton) .

The Spaniards, who introduced Europe to this golden berry after 1520, introduced it as “pommel de Peru” - “apple from Peru.” The loving French gave the “apple” its name, which the Russians also used for a long time - “une pomme d 'amour' - 'love apple'.

Both the French and the Spaniards used tomatoes as a remedy for coughs and as a powerful remedy for increasing potency, but frequent consumption of la mela d'oro (“golden apple” - Italian), according to scientists of that time, threatened death.

Such a gift for anyone's heart!

In 1780, new fruits from Italy were served at the table of Catherine the Second, most of which were “golden apples”. The empress liked the new fruit so much that by the greatest decree it was ordered to plant this vegetable for the imperial table and the process of Russification of the Italian “love” berry took on unprecedented proportions.

Oh, the queen didn’t know that tomatoes had long been settled on the outskirts of the Russian Empire as a medicinal vegetable, and Crimeans, Astrakhan, Georgians and other southerners had long mastered the methods of growing French-Italian berries!

So who is Senor Tomato? By definition, it is a fruit. In the everyday consciousness - a vegetable. According to biological classification - berry. And this fruit and vegetable has long become the king of our greenhouses and gardens!

What varieties of tomatoes does the 21st century offer us?

The agricultural research base is located in the Moscow region, Shchelkovo.

The most famous and widespread group of tomatoes are medium-fruited ones. These are the ones we are used to seeing on sale. The weight of the fruit varies from 50-60 to 180 g. The variety of such tomatoes is very large; most often they have a round or flat-round fruit, usually with a smooth (not ribbed) surface. Such tomatoes are suitable for fresh consumption, for preparing canned food, soups, ketchups, etc.

Medium-fruited tomatoes have good keeping quality and thick skin; they retain their presentation for a long time, which allows them to be transported over long distances. They contain a full range of useful substances, including vitamins, sugars and organic acids. Their seeds are always in demand, since many of us grow such tomatoes on our plots. Therefore, a large number of new varieties and hybrids of this type appear every year. Hybrids are popular now:

  • 'Lounger F1';
  • 'Evpator F1';
  • 'Azov F1';
  • 'Aladdin F1'.

They are not too demanding to care for, produce a stable harvest, and are resistant to many diseases. In addition, the hybrids 'Azov F1' and 'Aladdin F1' are distinguished by their bright colors and excellent taste.

Cherry tomatoes

Cherry tomatoes are called so from the English cherry (cherry), so they are also known as cherry tomatoes. These are the smallest tomatoes: weighing only 10-30 g. Cherry tomatoes appeared on the Russian market not so long ago, so many still consider them exotic. Usually these tomatoes are red, although nowadays there is a huge variety of colors: there are yellow, pink and even black cherry tomatoes.

Small fruits are exclusively decorative and look great in salads and snacks. But attractive appearance is not the main advantage of cherry tomatoes. First of all, they are famous for their excellent taste. Cherry fruits accumulate a huge amount of sugar, which makes them a real delicacy. Even those who are indifferent to tomatoes in general appreciate the rich taste of berry tomatoes.

Currently, the range of cherry tomatoes is very diverse. The following varieties are popular among summer residents and farmers:

  • 'Cherry red';
  • 'Cherry yellow';
  • 'Cherry pickle';
  • 'Sapporo';
  • 'Valentine';
  • 'Amber cherry'.

Cherry fruits

Of course, the yield of cherry tomatoes is significantly lower than large-fruited and ordinary grape tomatoes and does not exceed 2 kg per plant, but this is not the most important thing for cherry tomatoes. Cherry tomatoes bear long clusters (up to 40-50 pieces) of fruits of excellent taste and bright, varied colors. Cherry fruit bears for a long time, and fruit ripening is uniform. They can be removed directly with a whole brush. The cream tomatoes themselves are dense, of different shapes, weighing up to about 30-40 g, suitable for canning and storage, but are especially valued when consumed fresh.

Even among cherry tomatoes, the “Monisto” group of varieties stands out for its abundant and friendly fruiting. At this time, the plants are very decorative: small sugar creams in numerous clusters of 20-30 fruits densely cover the tall plants. This is why tomatoes got their name - Monisto. Tomato Monisto can be not only red, but also pink, amber, emerald and even chocolate. The “Monisto Amber” tomato is especially decorative. Tomato beads glowing from the inside are like pieces of amber strung on a silk cord.

Tomato seeds "Monisto amber"

“Monisto amber” is an indeterminate plant (with unlimited growth), suitable for growing in greenhouses, and thanks to its unique precocity, it can be grown in open ground with a garter to a high support. The foliage of the bushes is low, so the plants are well ventilated, bear numerous bunches of fruit and are less affected by diseases. The fruits weigh 20-30 g, yellow-orange, honey-colored, aromatic, ripen on the plant 110–115 days after emergence. Productivity 6.9–8.9 kg/m2. The value of the variety: uniform yield, good keeping quality of fruits, resistance to diseases, excellent taste, as well as high decorativeness and attractiveness of the fruits.

Vegetable growers' opinion

Small red tomatoes have been known for a long time, but Monisto will give clusters of yellow, chocolate, and greenish fruits. If you plant all the varieties of the group, you can prepare an assortment of multi-colored whole tomatoes for the winter. Tomato fruits can decorate any summer salad.

Reviews of the variety indicate that tomatoes are not susceptible to diseases and are rarely attacked by pests. Those tomatoes that are placed in greenhouse conditions are especially high-yielding.

It is important for them to choose the optimal temperature and lighting conditions. With good care, tomatoes from the Monisto group will begin to bear fruit two weeks earlier than those planted in open ground.

Characteristics of tomato and its fruits

Of course, if this variety is so popular and does not lose its “position” for many years, then one can understand that it has many more advantages than disadvantages. Let's take a closer look at them.

pros

The main advantage of this variety is the ability to grow in open areas. Other advantages include:

  • Demidov's endurance. The bushes develop quickly and actively form ovaries, which results in a bountiful harvest in the form of large fruits. And all this with minimal planting care;
  • Easy to care for. It is caused by a small number of branches and short stature of the plant with its further “thickening”;
  • Resistance to diseases and pests. Bushes of the Demidov variety are practically not susceptible to the negative influence of various harmful insects, viruses and other parasites;
  • High yield. The variety is used for cultivation not only by gardeners, but also by large enterprises for commercial purposes. From 1 ha. you can get from 150 to 400 hundredweight;
  • Attractive appearance. Due to its resistance to mechanical stress, almost 97% of the entire crop has a “marketable appearance”;
  • Possibility of harvesting without waiting for the fruit to fully ripen. Necessary for further ripening of fruits;
  • "Tomato taste." As well as the juiciness and pronounced sweetness of the fruit.

Minuses

Alas, if you do not follow all the rules for watering the plant, this can lead to cracking of the fruit. Tomato skins can burst when, during a severe drought, the plants are watered too often and they take on excessive amounts of moisture.

If the rainy season does not drag on, the moisture is evenly distributed among all the fruits and the skin is not damaged.

The second disadvantage is the risk of getting rotten fruits due to unsystematic watering of plants. During drought, plant roots cannot release the necessary amount of substances to nourish the plant. As a result, the leaves become dry.

The outflow of moisture from the top of the plant to the roots begins, due to which some Demidov cells die, the fruit becomes softened, and begins to rot. Then fungal infections appear on it.

Of course, these “disadvantages” are inherent in almost all tomatoes, and fruit-bearing plants in general.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Pros:

  • elegant look;
  • the possibility of combining with other varieties of the Monisto group;
  • abundant fruiting.

Minuses:

  • There are no significant shortcomings.

Pros:

  • great taste;
  • beautiful appearance;
  • good yield;
  • universal use.

Cons:
The Mammoth tomato has advantages due to which it remains among the popular varieties:

  • high yield throughout the season;
  • rapid ripening;
  • large mass of fruits;
  • unpretentiousness to environmental conditions;
  • the ability to plant in almost any region;
  • resistance to dry weather and diseases;
  • excellent taste, thanks to which it is widely used in cooking.

Among the few disadvantages, gardeners highlight a short storage time after harvesting. After 2 weeks, the skin becomes covered with cracks, the fruit turns black.

Hearty tomato

One of the most popular tomatoes in Russia is the Pink Heart tomato. These tomato varieties were the first to be cultivated in the USSR, and during this time they managed to gain great popularity.

These tomato varieties are classified as indeterminate, requiring staking and assistance in formation. The fruit is pink in color and shaped like a heart. Their photos can be found on the covers of old magazines dedicated to gardening topics.

The fruits have a rich taste and color, are resistant to cracks, which allows them to be freely transported over long distances. The average weight is 230 g.

The description of Heart Tomato Pink is not entirely complete due to the short growing period and due to its insufficient study. The best option would be to sow seeds for seedlings, and not directly into the ground. It is better to start sowing in March. The first sprout appears after about 5 days at a temperature of about 25 °C indoors. When replanting, the following conditions must be observed: the interval between rows must be at least 40 cm, and the distance between bushes of the same row must be 70 cm. The fruits should be cared for as follows: watering once every 2-3 days, regular weeding, fertilizing with fertilizers once every 3-4 weeks.

The most popular and productive varieties

The huge variety of pink tomatoes requires special attention when choosing them to grow on your site. The description of the variety, which is usually given on the package with seeds, often does not have such an indicator as the characteristics of the variety, and information on caring for plants is quite scarce. At the same time, almost all companies do not indicate the disadvantages of this or that type, and there is rarely information about the features of caring for tomatoes. That is why some gardeners have negative experiences growing these varieties, leaving negative reviews on them.

The vast majority of gardeners are forced to find the right ways to care for vegetables themselves, which causes serious inconvenience and often leads to crop losses. Therefore, it should be remembered that different varieties of pink tomatoes require special care and have specific characteristics.

Among all the varieties of pink tomatoes, the following are considered the best:

  1. The Pink Souvenir tomato is a large fruit that is tolerant of low temperatures in early spring and late autumn.
  2. The Pink Morning tomato, popular among gardeners, is characterized by medium-sized fruits, but their quantity compensates for this and allows you to obtain a standard harvest volume.
  3. The Pink King tomato is popular due to its brightly saturated color. This variety is often used as a decorative decoration for tables.
  4. Bugai pink tomato - somewhat reminiscent of the previous variety, but has a darker color and is larger in size.
  5. Tomato Dream F1 (hereinafter simply Dream) is a large fruit and a branched plant structure.
  6. The Korneevsky pink tomato is named after the breeder Korneevsky.
  7. Tomato Volgograd 94 - medium fruit size, bright color.
  8. The Pink Giant tomato is similar to the Pink Bugai.
  9. Cherry tomato Monisto pink.

Most of the above varieties are conditionally classified as VIP class. They all have similar characteristics, but the methods of care can vary significantly. However, conditionally pink varieties can be divided into several groups, based on the quality parameters of the variety. It is impossible to consider all possible tomatoes - a fairly large number of different varieties have been bred over the past 50 years. Therefore, emphasis will be placed on the currently most common types of tomatoes, for which a description of the variety and some recommendations for caring for them will be given.

Cocktail tomatoes

Separately, it is worth noting cocktail tomatoes with larger portioned fruits than cherry ones, weighing 30-60 g. They are popular due to their excellent taste and aroma, easy ripening and high yield, while being just as decorative as cherry tomatoes. The world-famous variety 'Lady's Fingers' is a cocktail variety. Of the modern varieties, the following are in particular demand:

  • 'Monisto pink';
  • 'Monisto emerald';
  • 'Monisto chocolate';
  • 'Monisto amber'.

Cocktail tomatoes are resistant to falling (they remain on the grapes for a long time) and have good keeping quality.

Large-fruited tomatoes

And finally, beef tomatoes with large, fleshy (weighing from 180 to 300-500 g and even more) fruits, slightly flattened or flat-round in shape, with a ribbed or smooth surface. They are distinguished by a high content of biologically active substances. Since such large fruits take longer to ripen than medium-sized fruits, they accumulate large amounts of sugars and organic acids, which gives them excellent taste. And, of course, beef tomatoes are record holders for yield: from 1 m² you can get up to 12-15 kg of fruit.
