Aktara insecticide for effective control of cucumber pests

Composition and principle of action

The main active ingredient of Aktara is thiamethoxam.
Its concentration in the preparation is 250 g/kg (or 240 g/l). The product destroys even hidden insects. Weather conditions are also not an obstacle to the action of Aktara. The product is absorbed into the leaves through the skin (when sprayed), or absorbed from the soil by the roots, spreading through the vascular system throughout the plant (when watering). In the first case, the protective effect of the drug lasts about 3-4 weeks, and in the second - up to two months.

It should be noted that Aktara does not cause any harm to the fruits of vegetable crops, fruit trees and berry bushes. There is no accumulation of harmful plastics in them. In addition, if the instructions for use are followed, insects do not develop resistance and addiction to this insecticide.

The drug begins to act half an hour after contact with the pest. The insect eats the treated parts of the plant. Once inside, the active substances first act on the digestive system, suppressing receptors. The pest stops feeding on leaves. Then its nervous system is paralyzed, as a result of which the insect dies within 24 hours.

The active ingredient of the drug is thiamethoxam. In small doses, the synthetic compound causes stimulation of the nervous system of pests. Significant concentration leads to paralysis. Aktara belongs to the group of contact-intestinal insecticides. The substance is absorbed into the plant tissue, along with the cell sap enters the gastrointestinal tract of the insect and provokes its death. Pests with thin cover die after contact with the drug. Actara's effect does not apply to eggs, pupae and larvae.

The insecticide is used in 2 ways: spraying the ground parts of garden, vegetable and indoor crops and watering at the roots. In the first case, the solution is absorbed by the shoots in a matter of minutes. When applied to the soil, it takes several hours for the active substance to be distributed throughout all the vascular tissues of the plant. For fruit trees, this time is on average 1-3 days; for low-growing crops, 2-3 hours are enough.

Thiamethoxam mainly accumulates in plant leaves; its concentration in fruits is insignificant. The protective function of the drug lasts for 2-3 weeks after foliar treatment and 2.5-3 months after watering the soil.

Feedback from farmers

Sergey: I use Aktara once every 2-3 years so that pests don’t get used to it. I will carry out a test shot on parasites in a week. Then I inspect the plantation weekly. If I notice traces of presence, I carry out another treatment. I always get good results.

Anastasia: I grow cucumbers in a greenhouse. Without pest control, it is difficult to grow a rich harvest. I use different insecticides, often using Aktara. I apply the drug at the root. I like the ease of use, reasonable price, and high efficiency of the Swiss insecticide.

Mikhail: Aktara always helps to get rid of various pests. I apply it through drip irrigation at the 15-leaf stage. This is more convenient than spraying: try moistening the underside of the leaf! The plants feel great and grow quickly.

Description of the drug "Aktara"

A product that paralyzes the activity of insects in the first minutes of exposure leads to the death of pests within 24 hours in open beds, in greenhouses or greenhouses, on berry bushes or fruit trees. Aktare is also capable of effectively protecting garden and indoor plants from soil pests.

Aktara belongs to the contact-intestinal insecticides of the Neonicotinoids group. The drug is produced in Switzerland. It is available in the form of tablets, granules, soluble light cream powder and suspension (in glass or plastic containers in various volumes). The active substances of the drug do not burn, but melt at a temperature of 140 degrees. Good solubility in water is observed at a temperature of 25 degrees.

Functions and properties

Aktara improves the quality of foliage and shoots, protects the plant from many pests. The product is effective for 1-2 months after treatment (depending on the method of application).

It is used to protect vegetable crops and indoor plants, and is also suitable for fruit trees, berry bushes and flower crops. Treatment with Aktara can be carried out in any weather conditions (heat, precipitation, high/low humidity levels...).

The drug can be used both for spraying the vegetative part of plants and for cultivating the soil. Thanks to the unique properties of the active substance - thiamethoxam - Aktara decomposes well in the soil, is perfectly soluble in water and is well absorbed by the plant from the soil. With the help of this complex drug, you can completely control the reproduction process of any pests throughout the season.

Areas of use

This insecticide is able to fight against a wide range of insect pests of many crops. Aktara is mainly used in horticulture and agriculture. The drug is intended for the extermination of the Colorado potato beetle, aphids, moths, scale insects, soil flies, thrips, whiteflies, May beetles and many other pests.

The product can be used to treat:

  • grain crops;
  • vegetables;
  • fruit trees;
  • vegetable seedlings;
  • berry bushes;
  • decorative flower crops;
  • houseplants.

The Aktara insecticide does virtually no harm to birds, earthworms and aquatic organisms. For humans and mammals, the product is moderately toxic, but for pollinating insects (wasps, bees, hornets) it is poisonous. In this regard, it is not recommended to treat plants during the flowering period.

Packaging and dosage

Aktara is supplied to retail chains in 4 gram packs and 250 g bags. Large packs are intended for large plantations on multi-hectare farm fields or on the plantings of agricultural holdings. 4-gram ones are intended for gardening farms or peasant farmsteads with land areas from 6 to 12 acres.

A small package costs between 80-110 rubles. A 250-gram package will cost the buyer 3,500-5,000 rubles.

We advise you to read: What is the insecticide Confidor, how to use it in the garden?

The best period for treating a plot with Aktara is immediately after the flower petals have fallen from the fruit trees and ovaries have appeared in their place. At this time, bees and other pollinators lose interest in the area, and there is still time before the next flowers appear on raspberries, strawberries and others. Pests have already appeared on the site anyway - albeit in limited quantities for now, but preventive treatment (primarily the soil by watering) will not be superfluous.

Preparation of a solution for treating the above-ground parts of plants:

  1. A standard 4-gram sachet is dissolved in a 1.5-2.0 liter container at a temperature slightly exceeding 30 degrees.
  2. 250 ml of water is poured into the manual spraying device.

Next, water is added, bringing it to the desired concentration, keeping in mind the processing of different crops in the area.

  1. In order to process potatoes, add 150-200 ml of concentrate to the tank
  2. Currant bushes – 250 ml.
  3. For decorative flowers (lilies, roses, chrysanthemums, etc.) – 600 ml

The resulting mixture is brought to 5 liters of ready-to-use mixture with water. Then carefully screw the lid on the tank and shake the contents well. At this point the preparation is complete, the sprayer is ready for use.

Despite the complexity of this approach to diluting the mother solution, it is convenient in gradually processing the garden from plants that require a solution of higher concentration to plants that require a lower concentration. In practice, this looks like gradually adding water to the spent mixture, thereby reducing its concentration.

Scope of application

The insecticide packaging shows a close-up picture of the Colorado potato beetle, a well-known enemy of potato beds. Despite this, the spectrum of action of the chemical is much wider. Aktara is used in the fight against aphids, whiteflies, thrips, scale insects and many other harmful insects. The effectiveness of protection against onion flies, cabbage flea beetles, and apple moths has been proven. Dangerous pests are controlled in several ways:

  • spraying over the entire surface of the above-ground parts of plants;
  • application to the soil in beds and in bowls with potted plants;
  • soaking the roots of vegetable seedlings;
  • treatment of tubers before planting in the ground.

What pests does the drug protect against?

Insecticide "Aktara" helps save garden and vegetable plants from the following pests:

  • Colorado beetle;
  • Chafer;
  • spider mite;
  • whitefly;
  • scale insect;
  • Khrushchev larvae;
  • aphid;
  • thrips and others.

Splashes of the product when spraying plants fall on caterpillars and beetles, then penetrate their body and the poison begins to take effect. The insects eat the poisoned plants, ingesting an insecticide that destroys their nervous systems. After half an hour, the parasites cannot eat anything and soon die. If the insecticide is applied to the soil, underground pests are killed.

The drug "Aktara" costs 75-100 rubles for a package of 4 grams, and 3500-5 thousand rubles for 250 g, respectively. The product should be stored in utility rooms, on high shelves or closed cabinets. Children and animals should not get there.

It is not recommended to store food, medicine or feed near the drug. The room temperature should be between 10 degrees below zero and 35 degrees above zero. Do not store Aktara in places of high humidity.

Advantages and disadvantages

Each insecticide has its own strengths and weaknesses. "Aktara" is no exception. Let’s look at the main “pros” and “cons” of the drug.

Advantages:

  1. High efficiency.
  2. Performance.
  3. After processing the plant, the fruits remain harmless to human health.
  4. Wide range of applications.
  5. When used correctly, it is not addictive to insects.
  6. Efficiency does not depend on weather conditions.
  7. Long lasting.
  8. Small consumption rate.
  9. Possibility of soil cultivation.
  10. Detailed instructions for use are present on the packaging of the drug.

Flaws:

  • poisonous to wasps, bees and hornets;
  • impossibility of storing the working solution;
  • Alternation with other insecticides is recommended.

The insecticide is deservedly popular among gardeners. Aktara's strengths include:

  1. The speed with which the drug affects pests. Insects eat poisoned leaves and receive a lethal dose of a toxic substance, which within half an hour provokes paralysis, subsequently leading to death.
  2. Effective against a wide group of pests, including insects that parasitize the back side of foliage.
  3. Absence of the unpleasant odor characteristic of most insecticides in dissolved form. For this reason, Aktar can be used in residential areas to treat indoor plants.
  4. Weather resistant. Efficiency does not decrease in heat and under the influence of ultraviolet radiation. After absorption, the drug is not washed off by precipitation.
  5. Safety for humans if precautions are taken.
  6. Toxic substances are not concentrated in the fruits of treated crops; therefore, hygienic safety is not compromised.
  7. Compatibility with other drugs aimed at protecting against harmful insects, fungal diseases, stimulating plant growth.

Compatibility with other drugs

The instructions for use indicate that summer residents can combine the product with growth stimulants, pesticides, and herbicides. Farmers and amateur gardeners use Aktar in tank mixtures with popular drugs:

  • Zircon;
  • Epin;
  • Fitosporin M.

Agents that have an alkaline reaction should not be added to Aktara's solution. It enters into a chemical reaction with a soap solution, Bordeaux mixture. Watering at the root is ineffective if the soil was limed before planting.

Release forms

The development of the drug belongs to the Swiss company Syngenta. In the Russian Federation, Aktara is produced under license. There are several forms of release on sale:

  • water-dispersible granules (WDG) packaged in 1.4 g, 4 g and 250 g;
  • liquid suspension in ampoules of 1.2 ml and polymer bottles of 9 ml and 1 l.

As a rule, one package of the minimum quantity is enough for processing garden and vegetable beds on individual farms and for use at home to protect indoor flowers. Large packaging is intended for the use of insecticide on an industrial scale.

Stable demand and high cost of Aktara have given rise to a market for counterfeit drugs. To protect yourself from unscrupulous manufacturers, you should know the characteristic features of the original drug:

  • the hologram applied to the packaging has a denser structure and is completely separated from the surface;
  • the Syngenta logo is visible in the center of the hologram; if you change the viewing angle, the Aktara inscription appears;
  • The original packaging contains state registration numbers and container labels (for those licensed in the Russian Federation).

In Russia you can purchase registered analogues of the insecticide, which also contain thiamethoxam: Tiara, Eforia, Doctor Cruiser and Adamant.

The shelf life of granules is 4 years, ampoules – 12 months. The chemical is stored in a sealed condition at a temperature range from 10°C to 35°C, out of the reach of children and pets.

Storage rules

It is recommended to store the insecticide in a cool, dark place. The shelf life is 4 years. Temperature for storage -10ºС…+35ºС. Chemicals are stored separately from medicines and food. The toxic substance is placed in places inaccessible to children and pets. After using the drug, the container in which the chemical was stored must be burned.

If the package contains more Actara than required for processing, the granules must be poured onto a sheet of paper and divided into equal doses with a toothpick. The drug must be stored in a plastic bag with a sealed fastener; high humidity and sudden temperature fluctuations should be avoided.

In order for the result to be as effective as possible, it is necessary to comply with the dosage and carry out treatment with Aktara at the optimal time and time. With proper care and timely pest control, cucumbers do not lag behind in growth, bloom and bear fruit together.

Aktara: instructions for use

You need to start treating plants when you detect the first signs of the presence of insect pests (or their larvae and caterpillars). We will consider the details of preparing the solution and its subsequent use below.

For convenience, first prepare the mother solution, and only then prepare the working solution. What is the essence of the mother liquor? Take a container with a volume of at least 1.5-2 liters. In it, the contents of the package (4 g) are dissolved in 1 liter of water. Next, prepare the working solution (directly in the sprayer).

First, the sprayer is filled with 250 ml of water. To process potatoes, 150-200 ml of mother solution is poured into it, for currants - 250 ml, and for flower crops - 600 ml. The resulting liquid is brought to a volume of 5 liters, the tank is closed with a lid and shaken thoroughly. After this, the working solution is ready for use.

Each type of crop has its own processing rules and cost standards. The method of application is usually the same. There are only two options: spraying and watering. Spraying is carried out until the leaves and shoots of the plant are completely wetted, and watering is carried out until the soil is deeply moistened.

Let us examine in more detail the processing of various types of crops:

  1. Aktara protects tomatoes from the Colorado potato beetle, aphids and whiteflies. For irrigation, dilute 4 g of the substance in 10 liters of water, and for spraying - 1.2 g in 10 liters of water.
  2. To protect cucumbers from aphids, tobacco thrips and whiteflies, water with a solution (4 g of the drug per 10 liters of water) or spray (2-4 g per 10 liters of water).
  3. Aktara is indispensable for peppers and eggplants. The product saves these crops from aphids and tobacco thrips. The solution (4-8 g of the substance per 10 liters of water) is poured under the root, and for spraying, 2-4 g of the drug is diluted in 10 liters of water.
  4. Onions are often attacked by thrips and onion flies. These pests are eliminated by spraying. To do this, you need to dissolve 4 g of the drug in 10 liters of water.
  5. The high effectiveness of the drug is also noted when processing cabbage. Aktara easily copes with slugs, caterpillars and fleas. To do this, the solution is poured under the root (3 g of the product is diluted in 10 liters of water).
  6. To process potatoes, you can use a working solution based on the mother solution, or you can separately dilute 1.2 g of the drug in 10 liters of water. The crop is sprayed once during the growing season. The Colorado potato beetle should disappear after 14 days.
  7. The drug is also suitable for fruit trees (apple trees, pears, plums...). You can get rid of the apple tree from the copperhead and codling moth by spraying (3 g of product per 10 liters of water). Pears are also treated against the same pests (4 g of the drug per 10 liters of water).
  8. Currants are treated against aphids. The first spraying is carried out before flowering, and the second after harvesting. To prepare the working fluid, take 2 g of the substance per 10 liters of water (or 250 ml of the mother solution per 10 liters of water).
  9. The grapes are treated against cicadas and other pests. To do this, dissolve 3 g of Aktara in 10 liters of water. Then spraying is carried out.
  10. Decorative flower crops (roses, violets, orchids) are sprayed when pests such as aphids, whiteflies and scale insects appear. Take 8 g of the drug per 10 liters of water. For 10 sq. m consume up to 1 liter of working solution. If the roses are attacked by thrips, then 16 g of the product is diluted in 10 liters of water, and then the plant is sprayed with the resulting liquid.
  11. When fungus gnats and soil flies appear, potted flower crops are watered with a solution prepared at the rate of 1 g of the drug per 10 liters of water. Aphids, scale insects, thrips and whiteflies are eliminated by repeatedly watering the soil with a working solution (8 g of the drug per 10 liters of water). For 10 sq. m consume 10 liters of liquid (in other words, this working liquid is enough for 250 pots).

Processing of seedlings

The drug "Aktara" can also be used to treat seedlings and seed material. To treat potato tubers, 6 g of the product is dissolved in 0.3 liters of water. The tubers are evenly laid out on the film, sprayed with the working solution, and then mixed thoroughly. Such potatoes are not suitable for storage. It must be planted immediately. This method is also suitable for processing onion heads and garlic cloves.

You can also soak seedlings in the working solution. For these purposes, 1.4 g of the drug is diluted in 1 liter of water. The roots of the seedlings should be immersed in the mixture for exactly two hours. This procedure is carried out 12 hours before landing. One such working solution is enough to treat 200 plants.

By following the manufacturer's recommendations, it is impossible to harm plants, beneficial organisms, animals or humans. For each release form and method of use there are separate dosages. In summer cottages they use small packaging of Aktara. To prepare, simply dilute the required amount of granules or liquid from the ampoule in water according to the recipe.

For irrigation of the above-ground parts of plants and soil application of insecticide, the ratio of dry (granulated) preparation in grams (Ak) and water (B) in the working solution is different:

  1. 8 Ak /10 l B - recipe for watering the soil on the site and in potted indoor plants.
  2. 4 Ak/5 l – for irrigation of greenhouse and greenhouse crops.
  3. 1 Ak/1 l – spraying of indoor plants.

The consumption rate when watering the soil is 10 l/10 sq.m. To irrigate berry bushes (gooseberries, raspberries, currants) you will need up to 1 liter per plant. Treatment of indoor crops is carried out by simultaneous application to the soil and on the leaf.

When treating bushes or trees with irrigation, choose the period of budding (but before flowering). Instructions for using Aktara for fruit trees and shrubs differ only in dosage. After harvesting, repeated spraying will consolidate the result. This method of treatment with Aktara against aphids and other pests declared by the manufacturer will give a long-lasting effect.

Recommended dosages (in grams) of the drug (Ak) and amount of water (B) for garden crops:

  • berry bushes - 2 Ak granules / 10 l V or 1.2 ml Ak liquid / 6 l V - destroys aphids, thrips, scale insects;
  • grapes – 3 Ak/10 l – spraying against leafhoppers at a consumption of 6 l/10 sq.m of vineyard area;
  • apple trees - 3 Ak / 10 l - spraying against codling moth, copperhead;
  • pear - 4 Ak / 10 l - from pear honey.

The general recommendation for the amount of the drug - up to 8 Ak / 10 l B - suggests that in case of extensive damage to crops by pests, the concentration can be increased within specified limits.

The manufacturer recommends several options for growing Aktar for potatoes. Variability depends on the type of pest:

  • from the Colorado potato beetle – 1.4 Ak/10 l spraying of small areas;
  • against the Colorado potato beetle on large areas - 4 AK is diluted in 3 liters of B, then this concentrate is brought to a volume of 30 liters; consumption - up to 5 per hundred square meters;
  • from wireworms - 4 Ak / 10 l - watering planting nests or furrows before planting.

Tomato plantings in open ground and in greenhouses:

  • 4 Ak / 10 l – for watering;
  • 1.2 Ak/10 l – for irrigation.

For eggplants and all types of peppers, cucumbers, onions and cabbage, the dosages are the same:

  • up to 8 Ak / 10 l – watering solution;
  • up to 4 Ak/10 l – for irrigation.

Aktara protects these and other vegetable crops from all types of flies, thrips, aphids, fungus gnats, and flea beetles. The denser the coverings of insects, the stronger the concentration of the solution: fungus gnats and poduras will die at a concentration of 1:10, and fleas, wireworms, scale insects and Colorado potato beetles require at least 4-8 g for the same volume of liquid.

Flower beds suffer from the same pests: thrips, mealybugs, aphids. To protect rose gardens and mixborders, plantings are sprayed with Aktara solution:

  • for thrips – 16 Ak/10 l V or 1.2 ml Ak/750 ml;
  • from aphids – 4 Ak / 10 l.

In case of severe damage, the dosage is increased to 8 g for the same volume of water.

Pre-planting treatment of seeds, tubers, garlic cloves or onion heads will increase crop resistance to pests during the most vulnerable period - the beginning of the growing season. To do this, dilute Aktara (4 g for seeds, onions, garlic/6 g for tubers) per liter of water. Seeds (those sold not pre-treated) are soaked a day before planting. Potatoes, onions, garlic - for half an hour, then dry and plant immediately.

Potato tubers can be pre-sprayed. To do this, planting material laid out in one row is densely irrigated with a solution in a ratio of 6 Ak/300 ml.

Seedlings of bushes, trees, and indoor ornamental plants are processed as follows:

  • the roots of seedlings or indoor plants are dipped into a solution of 4 Ak/1 l B when transplanting;
  • leave for 30-40 minutes;
  • planted immediately after soaking, without washing the root system.

Once in the plant tissue through the roots, the insecticide protects the crop during the rooting period.

New drug "Bushido" against whiteflies, Colorado potato beetles, aphids and thrips

Until recently, the fight against the Colorado potato beetle consisted of collecting adults and larvae by hand and then destroying them. Although it was possible to buy various products to protect nightshades from this voracious insect, they often turned out to be ineffective because the pests quickly adapted to the effects of the poisons.

"Bushido" is one of the best drugs against the worst potato pest. The use of this insecticide provides a long-lasting effect.

Description of the drug and safety measures when working with it

"Bushido" from the Colorado potato beetle contains the poisonous substance clothianidin, which makes up 50% of the total mass of the drug.

Ask and receive useful advice from professional gardeners and experienced summer residents.>>

This is a strong concentrate, and therefore is sold in very small packaging. One sachet can contain 0.2 or 0.5 g. It is produced in the form of small granules.

The chemical belongs to the third hazard class. You only need to work with it in special clothing, safety glasses, rubber gloves and a respirator.

Advantages of Bushido and scope of application

The product kills all harmful insects. The Bushido insecticide is used to treat potato tops, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers, peppers and even garden flowers.

The poison has an immediate effect on pests, which continues even during heavy rains. The substances contained in the insecticide do not penetrate potato tubers.

The peculiarity of Bushido is that it is used simultaneously with other plant protection products. The drug, according to reviews from summer residents, is very economical to use, and its price is low.

Impact principle

Bushido is a unique development because it has a triple effect. It is a contact, intestinal and systemic insecticide.

When clothianidin enters the body of an insect, paralysis of the nervous system occurs. The pest cannot not only move, but also breathe. The death of Colorado potato beetles occurs instantly.

The product cannot be used if bees live near the site. It is just as destructive for them as it is for the beetles against which it is directed.

Rules of application

Bushido is used only in the form of an aqueous solution. The dosage for its preparation is always indicated on the packaging. The instructions for use are simple, it’s difficult to make a mistake.

Treatment is carried out throughout the entire growing season of plants. For spraying, choose calm, windless weather. The best time for this is early morning or evening.

For processing potatoes on an area of 100 square meters. m. 5 liters of solution containing 0.2 g of granules is sufficient. The procedure for preparing the poison is as follows:

  1. In a small container (in a jar), dilute the contents of the sachet so that no sediment remains.
  2. Pour the liquid into a bucket, add water to the required volume (5 l).
  3. Stir well.

You need to spray the plants with this solution carefully. Only then will all Colorado potato beetles on the plantation be destroyed.

Even if there are too many pests in the area, you cannot increase the concentration of the solution. This can greatly harm the plants.

Planting material is also treated with an aqueous solution of bushido. This makes it possible to delay the appearance of the first beetles, postponing them to a time when the plants have gained green mass and become stronger.

Security measures

Class 3 hazard to humans does not guarantee that there is no danger of poisoning. Any chemical requires careful handling:

  1. During preparation and processing, protect respiratory organs, eyes, skin (gloves, goggles, mask or respirator).
  2. Smoking, drinking, eating food is possible only after finishing work and thoroughly washing hands and face with running water and soap.

These measures are sufficient to avoid dangerous contact with the product. If for some reason the chemical gets into your mouth, nose, or eyes, it is urgently necessary:

  • rinse your skin, eyes, rinse your mouth and nose with running water;
  • if swallowed, drink several glasses of water and induce vomiting;
  • give the victim activated carbon (1 g:1 kg of weight);
  • after a while, repeat gastric lavage.

If you cannot get rid of the symptoms of poisoning after 2-3 procedures, you should seek medical help. Aktara is an effective remedy for pests, and when used in accordance with the instructions and basic safety measures, they achieve effective results for plants without harm to themselves and others .

Aktara belongs to low-toxic drugs of class 3 hazard for humans and mammals. To completely eliminate the risk of poisoning and burns, you must strictly adhere to the instructions and follow certain technology:

  • when working with the substance, use gloves, a mask or a special respirator;
  • manipulations with the insecticide are carried out in an open space; when working in a living room, a window is opened;
  • refrain from drinking water, food and smoking at the time of contact with the drug;
  • after use, burn the container of the used solution;
  • After finishing all the work, wash your hands thoroughly and rinse your face.

We invite you to read: How and with what to treat a greenhouse in the fall

Toxicity

The drug is classified as hazard class 2-3, and the category will depend on the selected concentration. Regarding bees, the product has a hazard class of 1 and it is strictly forbidden to treat crops closer than 5 km from the place where the insects live. The components from which the composition is created can have a slightly toxic effect on:

  • birds;
  • fish;
  • earthworms.

It is phytotoxic for plants. Harvesting can be carried out after applying the composition no earlier than 21 days, provided that spraying is carried out and no earlier than 60 days if the irrigation method is chosen.

How to prepare the solution

Aktara is easily soluble in water, but to prepare a working solution from dry granules, some nuances should be taken into account:

  • pre-prepare containers for mixing the required volume and check the serviceability of the sprayer;
  • the prepared solution cannot be stored, so the required amount of granules is immediately measured, which depends on the crop being treated;
  • the contents of the package are diluted in a small amount of water (temperature not lower than 25 °C);
  • shake thoroughly until the liquid structure is homogeneous;
  • add the solution to the required volume, mix again;
  • Liquid Aktara in ampoules is prepared according to a similar principle.

After these manipulations, the drug is ready for use. Plants should be sprayed in cloudy (but not rainy) weather. When the need to treat against a pest does not allow you to hesitate, and there is a likelihood of precipitation, you should spray the plants no later than an hour before the rain. On sunny days, early morning or after sunset is suitable for processing.

Duration of impact

After applying Aktara, it remains in the vascular system of plants and protects against pests (when applied per leaf) for another 24 days. "Aktara" is not washed off by rain and water when watering.

For garden plants, the drug is poured under the root even before flowering. When watered at the root, the effect lasts 40-60 days, so one treatment is required. Young shoots also remain protected.

In case of spraying, Aktara is less effective. The holding time is reduced to 14-28 days.

When spraying plants that do not bear fruit, the effectiveness of the drug remains for 28 days.

Herbs (for example, parsley and dill) cannot be treated with Aktara.

Precautionary measures

Aktara belongs to toxicity class 3 (moderately hazardous substance).

When working with the drug, you should observe some precautions:

  1. The working solution should be prepared and applied wearing protective clothing (suit, rubber gloves, safety glasses and a respirator).
  2. During treatment, it is prohibited to eat, drink and smoke.
  3. At the end of the work, you need to change clothes, wash your face and hands with soap, and rinse your mouth.
  4. It is prohibited to carry out processing in the immediate vicinity of water bodies.
  5. Aktara should be stored in a dry, dark place at a temperature of -10 to 30 degrees.
  6. Indoor plants are treated in well-ventilated areas or outdoors.
  7. Treatment is prohibited during the flowering period.

In case of contact with skin, the drug should be removed with cotton wool or a soft cloth. In case of contact with eyes, rinse with plenty of water for 15 minutes. When poisoning with Aktara, characteristic symptoms appear: vomiting, nausea, general weakness. You must immediately call a doctor and show him the drug label.

If the victim is conscious, then before the doctor arrives he should be given activated charcoal to drink (3-5 tablespoons of crushed charcoal washed down with a glass of warm water). It is also recommended to induce vomiting. But if a person is unconscious, then vomiting cannot be caused!

Aktara is a highly effective fast-acting insecticide. If used correctly, you can get rid of hundreds of different insect pests of many crops, while enjoying fruits that are absolutely safe for health.

Features of use in greenhouses and open ground

In a greenhouse for flowering cucumbers, Aktaru can be used against aphids, whiteflies, thrips, but not for those growing in a garden bed.
The drug is toxic to pollinating insects. Even a month after treatment, plant pollen poses a threat to bees and bumblebees. Note! After treating cucumbers with the Aktara insecticide in the greenhouse, keep the windows and doors closed so that insects do not fly inside.

Greenhouse cucumbers suffer from whiteflies and thrips. Aktara insecticide is effective at the initial stage. Cucumber bushes are treated with it twice. After baiting insects on the leaves, cucumbers cannot be eaten for 3 days, so before spraying the plants, the grown fruits should be collected.

With repeated treatments of plants, insects develop resistance to Aktara. To prevent addiction from forming, cucumbers are treated against pests during the season with drugs belonging to different chemical groups.

A good effect is achieved by alternating:

  • Aktara;
  • Match;
  • Karate;
  • Actellik.

It makes no sense to use other nicotinoids (Cruiser, Doctor) for repeated treatments. These are analogues of Aktara.

Features of using Aktar in a greenhouse are given in the table.

Recommendations for spraying cucumbers in the garden

There is no need to delay processing. It is better to treat the bushes immediately after the appearance of pests. Before starting work, it is necessary to check the serviceability of the sprayer; backpack models are more convenient to use. Spray plants in the morning or evening.

Windy and rainy weather is not suitable for spraying cucumbers. After completing the work, the sprayer tank should be rinsed, to do this, pour clean water into it and spray it on the plants. Dilute the solution outdoors:

  • take a container with a volume of 1.5-2 liters;
  • pour 1 liter of water into it;
  • add granules;
  • pour a quarter of water into the sprayer tank;
  • pour in 150-250 ml of the mother solution;
  • add water, shake the tank, get to work.

Tips from flower growers and gardeners

On the forums there are interesting examples of using Aktara in the garden. Reading them is interesting and informative; they may come in handy:

  • to save raspberry bushes from glass, after picking the berries, pour them with a solution of 4 g per bucket;
  • against whiteflies on domestic citrus fruits, watering the soil in a pot once with a solution of 4 g per 2 liters helps, the dosage is indicated for a pot with a volume of at least 10 liters;

(it’s easy to measure 1 g of Aktara - pour out the whole bag and divide the granules into 4 piles);

  • You can protect indoor plants from scale insects by spraying them once with a solution of 1 g per 1 liter;
  • flowers will be saved from scale insects by double treatment, the first - spraying, watering, the second - only spraying, interval - a week;
  • spray the bed with onions against onion flies with a solution - 4 g per bucket;
  • for codling moth on apple trees - 3 g per bucket, spray;
  • for codling moth on pear - 4 g per bucket, spray;
  • water cabbage seedlings against flea beetles - 3 g per bucket.

Processing of seedlings

Aktars are often used to treat potato tubers before planting in open ground and for preventive treatment of seedlings. The procedure is carried out before planting seedlings in a permanent place. The procedure is as follows:

  • 1.4 g of Aktar granules are dissolved in 1 liter of warm water;
  • seedlings of tomatoes, peppers, eggplant are soaked in the solution for 2 hours so that the roots of the seedlings are evenly wetted with the liquid;
  • no later than 12 hours after treatment, the plants are planted in the ground.

To process potato tubers, use 6 g of granules diluted in 0.5 liters of water. The planting material is laid out on polyethylene and sprayed with the resulting solution using a spray bottle. Wet tubers are mixed to evenly distribute the substance and immediately planted in the beds. Potatoes processed in this way are not stored.

Consumption rate, dosage

The solution is prepared in warm water (the granules dissolve at a temperature not lower than 25°C), 8 g of the drug per 10 liters of water - for watering the soil in pots (or garden soil) against aphids, whiteflies, thrips, scabies and false scales, mealy bugs and rainbugs worms The consumption rate is 10 liters per 10 m² (approximately 200-250 pots).

To use Actara on houseplants against most pests, spray and water with the Actara solution at the same time. To do this, 1 sachet of actara weighing 4 g must be dissolved in 5 liters of water to spray the entire greenhouse, so it is recommended to dilute 1 g in 1.25 liters of water. The easiest way to do this is to pour the actara onto a white sheet of paper and divide it by eye into four piles - each will contain approximately 1 g. Dissolve 1 g of powder in individual bags and use as needed, dissolving in 1 liter of warm water.

If you use Aktara against weak pests: soil bugs (sun dew, coleoptera, enchytraea) or fungal gnats, dilute 1 g of Aktara per 10 liters of water for irrigation.

Actions in case of poisoning

When working with the drug, it is necessary to avoid contact in every possible way with both granules and suspension, and with the working solution. Otherwise, you need to act immediately:

  • if drops of the solution get on the skin, they must be thoroughly washed off with a detergent;
  • If the chemical gets into your eyes, rinse with cool water for at least 5 minutes;
  • If it enters the digestive system, you should take the absorbent and drink plenty of water.

Symptoms of insecticide poisoning include nausea, swelling of the eyelids, and dizziness. In this case, it is recommended to seek medical help.

Aktara - systemic insecticide

Systemic insecticide, also has an intestinal contact effect. Active ingredient: thiamethoxam, at a concentration of 250 g/kg and 240 g/l. Manufacturer: Syngenta Crop Protection AG, Switzerland. Available in the form of water-dispersible 1% granules, 25-35% suspension concentrate. Analogs and synonyms: Aktara, VDG; Aktara, KS; Doctor, TB; Adamant, gel; Cruiser, KS; Tiara, KS; Ephoria, KS, etc.

Used to protect garden crops and indoor plants from a wide range of pests (thrips, scale insects, scale insects, Colorado potato beetles, aphids, etc.), not effective against mites, ineffective against whiteflies!

What is the drug and how does it work

It is a means of protection against harmful insects, therefore it belongs to the category of insecticides. Used for the prevention and destruction of the following species:

  • Colorado potato beetle,
  • aphids,
  • thrips,
  • scale insects,
  • worms.

"Aktara" is widely known as an effective remedy against the Colorado potato beetle, but it destroys many more pests.

Important! Note! The drug is ineffective against whiteflies. It does not work on ticks because they are arachnids and require acaricides against them.

The drug is produced by many manufacturers who assign their own name to the drug. The most common analogues are:

  • Doctor, TB;
  • Cruiser, KS;
  • Ephoria, KS
  • Tiara, KS, etc.

In order not to make a mistake in choosing a drug, you need to pay attention to the active substance - thiamethoxam, which paralyzes the nervous system of insects .

It is this that underlies all analogues.

Forms of production - in bags, as water-dispersible granules, or suspension in bottles or ampoules in the form of a liquid concentrate.

According to their mode of action, they belong to the category of systemic insecticides. This means that the substance penetrates into plant tissue and is redistributed along the stems and leaves through sap flow. Almost none gets into the fruits, which makes them safe for consumption.

If there is a need to use Aktara several times in a row, it is worth remembering that the drug has a fairly high resistance. This means that the group of insects against which the substance is used develop immunity and the drug no longer affects them. In this regard, it is better to change the drug during repeated treatments. Moreover, changing the name is not enough; it is important to make sure that the product contains a different active ingredient. During the third or fourth session, you can return to Aktar again.
