Sweet pepper Marshal Zhukov F1: characteristics, pros and cons, growing methods, real reviews

Description of the hybrid: key positions

Bell pepper Marshal Zhukov F1 is not listed in the State Seed Register. This hybrid is intended for planting in exhaust zones or under cover. The originator allows the cultivation of pepper throughout the country. Gardening practice confirms the universality of culture.

Attention! In the list of the State Varietal Commission there is another hybrid of AF SeDeK (Moscow region) - Marshal F1. Both varieties appeared in the company’s line in 2016. They are similar in the vast majority of characteristics.

The pepper bush reaches a height of almost 1 m. It is moderately spreading. Due to the large size of leaves and fruits, experts do not recommend dense planting of plants in the ground. Peppers have large, smooth, neat, evenly shaped fruits (see photo). Before the onset of biological ripeness, they have a green color. Breeders call the variety thick-walled.

Gigantic "commanders". Experience in growing peppers “Marshal Zhukov F1”

I grow almost all vegetable crops on my 6 acres, but I want to tell you about sweet peppers.

I started with the selection of varieties and hybrids. Most of all I like early and mid-ripening peppers, large-fruited, with a thick wall. I grew Orange Miracle, Red Flame, Viking, Merchant, etc. Every year I try to update the assortment, using new items. And every year I grow a rich harvest of sweet peppers.

It all started when one Sunday I went into a grocery store and saw beautiful large colorful peppers on the counter - red, yellow, orange, purple. The saleswoman selected several of the largest and ripest ones for me. At home I put them on the south window, where they lay for five days. Then I took seeds from them and sowed them for seedlings in the first ten days of February. Germination was 100%! The seedlings grew well, the stems were thick and beautiful. I was very pleased, but I was still worried about the harvest, since I didn’t know where these peppers came from or what varieties they were.

The harvest made me happy. After that, I started collecting the seeds, dried them well and stored them in paper bags folded in a box.

And now new varieties of sweet peppers have appeared - giant “commanders”. In the fall of 2015, I purchased pepper seeds Marshal F1 and Marshal Zhukov F1. The fruits of these hybrids are dark red and cube-shaped. In my opinion, these hybrids have no equal in appearance, taste, and productivity (it’s not for nothing that they were awarded high ranks). They produce very large fruits (weighing on average 300-400 g) with a thick, sweet wall. And this is considered an impressive indicator for pepper fruits.

ON A NOTE

The fruits of sweet peppers are unique in their content of a complex of substances necessary for the human body. In terms of vitamin C content, it is second only to rose hips and black currants; among vegetables it is a champion, an absolute leader! It contains more vitamin A than carrots. There are many other vitamins: B1, B2, P, E, PP. Fruits retain up to 80% of vitamins when preserved and pickled.

If you add sweet peppers to cabbage when pickling (200 g per 1 kg of cabbage), it will not only be enriched with vitamins and become tastier, but will also be stored longer.

To obtain strong, friendly shoots, I treat the seeds in a solution of potassium permanganate for 20-30 minutes, then rinse with clean water and soak in Epin’s solution. Then I sow in boxes filled with fertile soil, planting them to a depth of 1-2 cm. Until germination, I keep the boxes in plastic bags at a temperature of 22°C. Shoots appear on the 8-10th day. And on the 5-6th day after that I move the boxes to a cooler place.

From the boxes I pick peppers into containers with soil. If the tip of the root is visible from the soil, I trim it. After two weeks I feed the plants with complex mineral fertilizers, and after another 2-3 weeks I repeat the feeding.

I would like to note that plants of this sowing period, planted in a greenhouse or under arcs, bear fruit until autumn. When harvesting, I transplant 5-6 of the most beautiful bushes into pots and continue to grow them indoors on south-facing windows.

When growing “marshals”, I use trellises to which I tie the plants, otherwise they cannot withstand the heavy weight of large fruits.

Peppers keep well in the refrigerator. They can be frozen by cutting them into small pieces and placing them in portioned plastic bags. When defrosted, pepper does not lose any taste or benefits, so in winter it helps to prepare a fresh summer salad.

Advantages and disadvantages of pepper hybrid

Valuable qualities of pepper Marshal Zhukov F1:

  1. Excellent taste characteristics. The fruits are sweet, fragrant, with a juicy structure. The pulp contains a large amount of vitamins and sugars.
  2. Meatiness. The thickness of the pericarp in some places reaches 1 cm.
  3. High marketability. Strong peppers tolerate storage and transportation well.
  4. Increased fertility. The crop demonstrates stable performance under different weather conditions, which is why it can be grown in any region of the Russian Federation.
  5. Immune resistance to a number of species-specific diseases.
  6. Dining versatility. Peppers look good after defrosting, heat treatment, and canning. They are used for different dishes.

Disadvantages of gardening:

  • the need for large space on the site;
  • inaccessibility for propagation by seeds due to hybrid origin.

“Commanders” are the flagships in the ranks of sweet peppers.

The powerful fruits of the hybrid Marshal Zhukov F1 can reach a weight of 300-400 g

These are super powerful fruits

Their wall thickness can reach 1 cm, it is incredibly juicy and aromatic. You could hardly see such fruits on a market counter. Even if they can compete with “Commanders” in size, they are unlikely to compete in terms of power and juiciness of the “filler” wall.

They are versatile in culinary use

Such fruits are good for light stewing, and especially fresh in salads. If there is any harvest left, freeze the fruits by cutting them into small pieces and putting them in portion bags. When defrosted, they lose neither taste nor benefit.

Features of agricultural technology and tips for growing

The table will help coordinate sowing dates and will be useful for solving other problems in growing peppers. You can pick seedlings after a couple of leaves appear on the stem. After about 70 days from germination, the sprouts will be ready to be transferred to the ground. Place the garden bed in a sunny location.

Advice. The optimal number of young plants per 1 sq. m plot - up to 3 copies.

Seeds and planting

Seeds for planting must be germinated at a higher temperature than during storage. Optimal - 25-30 degrees. Before starting germination, experts recommend immersing them in water. Full-bodied seeds are suitable for planting - those that sink to the bottom in the water. They produce guaranteed shoots. Experienced gardeners give excellent reviews about the Admiral Nakhimov F1 variety, consider it an undeniable success of the series, and recognize it as an ideal mid-season variety for a temperate climate.

In colder climates it bears fruit until the first frost; where the autumn is warm, the fruits can be collected until mid-October. To plant in the soil from the greenhouse, the seeds begin to germinate according to the gardener’s Lunar Calendar. Depending on the optimal timing, germination of seeds for seedlings begins. In temperate climates this occurs in early to mid-February.

Tip: to land Admiral Nakhimov you need to use a 50x50 scheme.

The bushes of this variety are not spreading, they grow mainly in height, the fruits droop under their own weight, being attracted to the ground. For 1 sq. m. you can fit more bushes, but this will not increase the yield. From planting according to the 50x50 scheme, you can get 7-8 kilograms of pepper.

Fresh farmer reviews

A summer resident with the nickname Algam confirmed in his review the similarity of the hybrid with pepper called Marshall F1. Both of the man's plants sprouted poorly. But they turned out to be stress-resistant. The summer resident was satisfied with the yield and quality of the fruit.

Gardener-blogger Svetlana (Tver region) showed a garden bed in a greenhouse strewn with beautiful fruits. In different weather conditions, a woman harvests Marshal Zhukov F1 pepper from August to October. The purposes are fresh consumption and preservation. The peppers reached a length of 18-19 cm and were good in cut. The summer resident rated the taste “excellent.” Only the walls of the fruits in some places narrowed to 3 mm.

Pepper Marshal Zhukov is suitable for lovers of large-fruited varieties. It has excellent productivity and an extended fruiting period. The commercial quality of the crop is also excellent.

Etymology of the name and distinctive features of the series

The main success in growing sweet peppers comes from the correct selection of varieties for cultivation. This is not the first time that Agro pleases domestic gardeners with beautiful examples of its products.

Fact: The already well-known variety from the “Commanders” series, “Marshal Zhukov,” produces fruits weighing up to 400 g.

The stellar selection includes:

  • Field Marshal Suvorov F1;
  • Marshal Zhukov F1, and Marshal F1;
  • Admiral Kolchak F1;
  • Admiral Nakhimov F1;
  • My General F1;
  • Admiral Ushakov F1;
  • General Denikin.

Please note: the distinctive features of the series are juiciness, unique and original taste, large sizes (Denikin reaches a length of 20 cm) and very high resistance to fruit pests, both the most common and quite rare.

All of them are characterized by high yield (7-8 kg) and have been tested both in greenhouse cultivation, under film, and in open ground. The results obtained were announced from the Khabarovsk region, Arkhangelsk and Moscow region. which also indicates high adaptive capacity. The unanimous opinion of farmers and gardeners recognized the series as suitable for industrial production and retail sale. And this is not only because of the size and features, but also the ability of the varieties to maintain their presentation for a long time (which means they can be transported over considerable distances). Vegetable producers have recognized that all hybrids are able to retain their original taste even after long-term freezing.
