“Miracle of the Market” - an unpretentious and tasty tomato on your site, its characteristics and description of the variety

Brief information about the variety

  • Planting : seedlings grown from seeds. Planted after the soil has completely warmed up;
  • Ripening : 110-120 days from the moment of sowing seeds for seedlings;
  • Lighting : loves sunlight, so you need to choose a well-lit place;
  • Soil : loose nutritious soil without close groundwater to avoid getting the roots wet;
  • Watering : abundant watering with warm water at least 2-3 times a week;
  • Feeding : the plant requires mandatory feeding, especially at the beginning of growth. It is advisable to add phosphate-potassium mixtures during irrigation, as well as organic matter in large quantities;
  • Pests and diseases : the variety is resistant to diseases, including those typical of tomatoes. However, it is possible for brown rot to spread and be damaged by mole crickets if not properly cared for.

The root system of a tomato lies at a depth of no more than 50 cm. Therefore, when growing a tomato, like all other vegetable crops, you should not worry about the depth of groundwater. The occurrence of water 1.0-1.5 m to the soil horizon is considered close. If the water is even higher, then it is no longer land, but swampy soil. On such lands nothing is grown except cranberries.

How to grow seedlings yourself at home

Tomatoes with such a long ripening period are grown in seedlings.

Important! The acidity of homemade or purchased soil should be at a pH level of 5.5–6.5.

Optimal timing

Seedlings of the tomato variety Miracle of the Market are moved to open ground at the age of 60–65 days from emergence. This means that the seeds are sown 70 days before planting in the ground, taking into account the emergence of seedlings 5 days from sowing. Typically, these dates fall in March or early April - depending on the climatic characteristics of the region and the method of cultivation (open or closed ground). Seedlings are planted in unheated greenhouses 14–20 days earlier than in open beds.

Soil mixture

You don’t have to bother yourself and buy a universal mixture for growing seedlings. To prepare your own soil, you can mix the following components:

  • 2 parts humus;
  • 1 part turf-leaf soil;
  • 1 part peat;
  • 1 part sand.

The homemade soil mixture must be disinfected by pouring boiling water, potassium permanganate (3%) or calcining it in the oven.
Important! It is necessary to make drainage holes in homemade containers. You should also check that purchased plastic containers have drainage.

Growing container

The following can be used as containers for growing tomato seedlings:

  1. Boxes. This is a reusable container that can be selected according to the size of the window sill. The boxes are easy to carry and transport, they save space. Their height should be 8–10 cm.
  2. Plastic trays and cassettes. Convenient, but must have a tray. Plants must be removed from them very carefully so as not to damage the roots. You will need cassettes 7–10 cm deep and 5–6 cm wide.
  3. Peat tablets. They contribute to better formation of the root system, but they dry out quickly and are expensive. Use tablets with a diameter of up to 9 cm.
  4. Peat pots and cassettes. The seedlings are planted in the ground together with such a container, and the roots are not subject to the risk of injury. They can get wet and moldy.
  5. Plastic pots. Reusable containers with a height of 12–17 cm and a capacity of 0.5–1 liters.
  6. Homemade container. Plastic cups, cut-off plastic bottles and milk cartons are suitable. This waste material saves the budget.

Seed preparation

For your own seeds or purchased in bulk, you should do a calibration. To do this, dissolve 1 tbsp in a glass of water. spoon of salt and immerse the seed material in it. Hollow seeds and debris float to the surface and are drained along with the water. The remaining seeds are kept for use. It is also necessary to carry out a disinfection procedure. To do this, the seeds are placed in a 10% solution of potassium permanganate for 20 minutes. Then washed with water. For better germination, they are soaked in stimulants (“Epine”, “Zircon”). They can be replaced by soaking in aloe juice for 24 hours.

Did you know? The seedling method of growing tomatoes was introduced in Russia in the 18th century by Andrei Timofeevich Bolotov, which made it possible to obtain their ripened fruits in open ground. This contributed to their development as an agricultural crop.

Sowing seeds

The soil in the seedling containers is watered with warm water and the seeds are planted to a depth of 1 cm. The planting pattern depends on the container and the method of cultivation (with or without diving). 1–2 seeds are planted in separate containers in the center. They are planted in seedling containers with subsequent diving according to a 2x4 cm pattern. Then the containers are covered and placed in a warm place (+22...+25°C) until germination. Every day the cover is removed and the soil is allowed to breathe and the humidity is controlled.

Seedling care

When sprouts appear, the shelter is removed and the seedlings are transferred to a well-lit place with a cooler temperature (+15...+17°C). At these temperatures, the sprouts are kept for a week so that they do not stretch. You can then move the plants to a slightly warmer place. They must be illuminated for at least 12 hours, otherwise additional lighting will be necessary. Water the seedlings 1-2 times a week when the top layer dries in the morning. Watering is done with settled water at room temperature. After about 2–3 weeks, after the formation of 2 leaves, the seedlings need to be planted in separate containers.

Did you know? Tomatoes are low-calorie foods. 100 g of fruit contains only 22 kcal. They are used in weight loss diets.

Be sure to do 3 feedings of seedlings:

  1. A week after picking (or 3 weeks after emergence). It is made on the basis of taking 5 g of ammonium nitrate, 15 g of potassium sulfate and 30 g of superphosphate per 10-liter bucket of water.
  2. 10 days after the first. 10 g of ammonium nitrate, 60 g of superphosphate and 30 g of potassium sulfate are diluted in 10 liters.
  3. A week before landing at a permanent place. In a 10-liter container, dissolve 10 g of ammonium nitrate, 50 g of superphosphate and 20 g of potassium sulfate in water.

Instead of these fertilizers, you can use ready-made fertilizer (“Kemira Lux”).

Hardening of seedlings

At least 7–10 days before planting the seedlings, they are hardened. First, the plants are taken outside in warm weather for an hour or two. Then this time is gradually increased, and on the day before planting the seedlings are outdoors around the clock. At the same time, sun training is carried out.

general characteristics

Miracle of the Market tomatoes are recommended for growing both in a greenhouse and in the open air, just in beds. This is not a very tall plant (up to 1.50 m), standard, resistant to diseases, even those that affect tomatoes.

According to the description, the variety is very productive: up to 15 kg of fruits are harvested from 1 m² in open ground. If you grow a plant in a greenhouse, the yield is somewhat less, but still impressive - up to 8 kg.

Important parameters:

  • disease resistance and unpretentiousness;
  • high productivity;
  • rapid and simultaneous ripening of fruits and long-term preservation of presentation.

At the very beginning of development, tomatoes require mandatory feeding - this is a very important component of care.

Description of the plant

Miracle of the Market tomatoes are round, scarlet in color, have an excellent taste, so they can be eaten in salads and also used in homemade preparations.

Fruits can weigh up to 600 g, but this is rather an exception. Average weight – 300-400 g.

The bushes of this variety are quite dense and branched, have an average height - from 120 to 160 cm. They require mandatory tying. In addition, plants of this variety must be pinched, removing all shoots except the last one. Support for this bush, given the number of fruits and their rapid ripening, is required.

Productivity

Tomato productivity is not the highest; there are varieties with a much larger number of fruits, but it cannot be called low.

In open ground, one bush can produce 5-7 kg of fruit. If a tomato grows in a greenhouse, its yield is somewhat lower, but still very impressive - 3-5 kg per bush or up to 8 kg per m².

Use of fruits

Tomatoes of this variety are universal. This is also explained by their excellent taste (optimal combination of sugar and acid).

The fruits are great for pickling because they can fit completely into a jar when canned.

At the same time, they have a thin but very dense skin, thanks to which they are not only perfectly stored, but also transported well.

Harvesting and application

Proper harvesting will ensure longer storage of tomatoes. Harvest tomatoes as follows:

  1. When ripe, the harvest is harvested systematically, approximately once every 5 days, and more often in hot weather.
  2. Trim tomatoes with scissors. Do this carefully, as minor damage will lead to rapid deterioration of the product.
  3. Harvest in the morning, before the tomatoes get hot in the sun. They must be dry, without dew. The stalk is not removed so as not to injure the fruit. It makes tomatoes ripen faster.

On a note. To ensure that the plant does not suffer from late blight, the crop is harvested before the temperature drops steadily.

Miracle Market tomatoes have a classic appearance: juicy, round and red, they are used for canning and pasta, as well as for preparing various dishes.

Growing regions

An excellent harvest can be obtained when grown in the southern regions

Tomatoes grow best in the south of our country, although they also ripen in the middle zone. However, it is in warm regions that all the best qualities appear: excellent taste, a large number of fruits and friendly germination.

Tomatoes grow well in the North Caucasus and Astrakhan region.

Planting and watering

You can start planting as early as February, if weather conditions permit and your greenhouse is properly equipped.

Seeds germinate in 4-5 days.

Watering should be moderate. If you water the plant too much even at the stage of bush development, or fertilize it, “fatification” may begin. In this case, the hybrid will begin to divert all its nutrition into the leaves and stems, preventing the ovaries and fruits from developing.

When using drip irrigation, you should decide immediately on the watering rate. 4-5 l. maybe not enough, 10 is already a lot. It is advisable to adjust watering according to the environment and the needs of the plant. If the temperature drops, reduce the amount of liquid, and vice versa.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Market Miracle variety has both advantages and disadvantages. However, it should be noted that there are many more positive qualities. These include:

  • unpretentiousness and resistance to pests and diseases;
  • fast and smooth ripening of fruits;
  • good taste;
  • excellent storage and transportation;
  • versatility of using tomatoes.

This tomato has only two disadvantages:

  • at the initial stages it requires care, in particular, mandatory fertilizer; if you do not feed it or do it in insufficient quantities, the yield will decrease significantly;
  • The bush requires pinching, that is, it will require more care than varieties that do not require shaping.

Advantages of the variety

1. Excellent productivity; 2. Unpretentious, which is rare for tomatoes; 3. Resistant to many vegetable pests and diseases; 4. They have a long fruiting period, which increases the yield; 5. Good general marketability (stands up well on the road, can be stored for a long time, looks great).

Another feature of the variety is the rapid ripening of the fruits. Ripe fruits are versatile and can be easily stored.

Features of cultivation

It is better to grow tomatoes in open ground, because when grown in a greenhouse, the yield is reduced by almost half. And the largest number of fruits was recorded in the southern regions of the country.

Usually it's the other way around. In open ground, the yield is lower, because greenhouse plants have the opportunity to continue the growing season and, accordingly, produce crops until late autumn, when in the open ground the bushes stop growing at low temperatures and even die from frost.

When forming, 2 stems are left, the stepsons are removed. During the development of the bush, potassium and phosphorus fertilizers are used, combining them with watering.

In addition, tomatoes must be watered with warm water, hilled and weeded. Thus, the soil is enriched with oxygen and the roots of the tomato can “breathe.”

Productivity

Harvest ripening dates range from mid-July to late August, which is an average of 115 days. One Miracle of the Market tomato plant produces 5-6 kg of fruit; from a square meter of open ground, an average of 13 kg of tomatoes is obtained. When grown in greenhouses, this figure is lower and amounts to 10 kg.

These tomatoes can be grown in greenhouses in any region, subject to humidity and temperature conditions. On open ground, the best place to grow the Miracle of the Market is the entire vast Southern Federal District. The central regions of the Russian Federation for this variety are rather a zone of risky farming, so it is better to plant them here in greenhouses.

Mistakes gardeners make when growing varieties

  • They keep seedlings for too long, fearing sudden spring frosts. As a result, growth and development are delayed, which cannot but affect productivity;
  • The seedlings are planted too close to each other, and with such thickening, the tomatoes grow worse, their fruits are much smaller, and the plants often get sick. This is understandable - if the planting is too dense, air does not circulate and moisture does not evaporate. Therefore, no more than 4-5 bushes should be planted per m²;
  • The tomato is formed incorrectly, as a result of which, instead of 1-2 stems on which many fruits are set, a dense spreading bush is obtained, which affects the yield;
  • They pay insufficient attention to fertilizers. This variety definitely needs feeding, especially in the early stages of growth.

Reviews, who planted

Mikhail, Astrakhan:

We have Miracle of the Market tomatoes in our garden not long ago, we are happy with the variety. The only thing I advise everyone is to pay attention to watering. If it’s hot and dry in the summer, then you just need to pour enough so that the soil is not dry. We allowed a slight underwatering, which resulted in small tomatoes. Although the taste has been preserved.

Anna, Rostov-on-Don:

Wonderful variety! We bought Miracle Market tomato seedlings, they grew well, didn’t require much care, we just planted them and then tied them up. It bears fruit very well, until the end of August we collect selected tomatoes.

Marina, Volgodonsk:

I can say for myself that when they started fertilizing the beds, the yield increased noticeably. Three times feeding per season is enough. Tomatoes The miracle of the market is truly just a miracle! Sweet, juicy, one to one. We can them, they look just like fresh on the table in winter.

Diseases and pests

The Miracle Lazy Tree variety has excellent disease resistance. There is no need to treat them for preventive purposes. The main pest of nightshades is the Colorado potato beetle. You can get rid of it using any insecticide.

Some people grow tomatoes because of their diversity.

Interesting shapes, colors, and sizes attract the attention of aesthete farmers. Passion turns into hobby
