Samba rose: how to grow a bright beauty in your garden

Plant care rules

In order for a culture to grow and develop normally, it must be properly cared for.

Watering and fertilizers

It is worth watering the rose once a week. To do this, it is better to use warm, settled water. It is recommended to moisten the soil in the morning or evening. In dry weather, the amount of watering is increased. 1 bush requires 8-10 liters of water.

During the season, the plant needs to be fed several times:

  • the first time the crop is fed after the buds open, using mullein infusion;
  • the second feeding is carried out after 2 weeks with urea;
  • for the third and fourth time it is worth using mineral products based on potassium, magnesium and phosphorus;
  • The fifth feeding is carried out at the beginning of autumn - a solution of ash and potassium sulfate is used for this.

Formative pruning

The bush requires moderate pruning. You should not shorten the shoots too much, as this provokes a weakening of the crop. Insufficient pruning will lead to the formation of a branched bush with weak branches. It is better to cut the crop by 7-8 buds. The procedure is carried out in early March. During the same period, it is worth removing damaged and frozen shoots.

In autumn, the rose should be pruned before covering it for the winter. It is recommended to carefully remove the leaves from the bush and trim the stems by 15-20 centimeters. From the third year of life they begin anti-aging pruning. It is worth removing old shoots that are 2-3 years old from the central part of the bush.

Shelter for the winter

The crop should be covered for the winter. Before carrying out warming procedures, it is recommended to remove leaves, flowers and unripe tops from the bush. In this case, the crop should be covered with earth and covered with leaves or spruce branches.

Mulching and fertilizing

Mown grass, rotted manure, compost, sawdust, and chopped hay are used as mulch. Mulching improves soil structure, promotes the life of earthworms, and smoothes out temperature changes.

An 8-centimeter layer of mulch applied eliminates the need for annual digging.

After pinching the buds of the Floribunda Golden Dreams rose, it is recommended to water the bushes with either mullein infusion (ratio 1:10) or chicken droppings (ratio 1:20). In spring, all varieties benefit from a urea solution (a matchbox in a bucket).

During the period May-August, roses are fertilized every 2 weeks. By the end of summer, the proportions of potassium and phosphorus increase. In autumn, roses use wood ash as a fertilizer (a glass per bush).

To improve soil health, infusions of nettle, marigold, and comfrey are used. Before the first flowering, all roses are fed with sodium humate (1 teaspoon per bucket of water).

Rose Rumba - what kind of variety is it?

Viburnum: growing a plant in your garden plot
Rose bonica floribunda: description, planting features and care This variety did not exist in nature. It was bred in 1972. The Dane E. Poulsen used for crossing the polyanthus rose, which is characterized by increased resistance to flowering, and several types of tea roses with the most beautiful colors.

Unique beauty of the garden

Short description

The rose bush can reach almost two meters in height. The vines have a large number of dark emerald leaves, which are slightly elongated with sharp tips.

A distinctive feature of the variety is the absence of thorns. When blooming, the buds form inflorescences that look like brushes. Each can have five flowers. The diameter of the blooming bud does not exceed 7 cm.

Flower growers are attracted to the Rumba variety by its unusual color. During the flowering period, the petals will be yellow, but later on the outside they become scarlet and then dark crimson. In this case, the central part of the flower remains yellow and gradually fades. The buds have a very delicate aroma.

For your information! The Rumba variety blooms in waves (repeated).

Double colors are the main distinguishing feature

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

The main advantages of the variety are:

  • attractive two-tone color of flowers;
  • re-blooming;
  • neat shape of buds;
  • the possibility of using the variety for vertical gardening.

Despite the popularity of the variety, it has a number of disadvantages:

  • during the rainy season, inflorescences may be damaged;
  • the bush is susceptible to diseases, and therefore requires regular treatment for prevention;
  • The variety does not tolerate frost well, so it is not recommended for planting in regions where temperatures can drop below −23 °C.

Note! Rumba is recommended for cultivation in the southern and central regions of the country. Due to the fact that the bush climbs, it can be used for vertical decoration of arches and arbors

Use in landscape design

Thanks to repeated flowering and double coloring, the climbing rose Rumba is very popular among gardeners for creating landscape design. The shrub can be used for flower arches and used to decorate gazebos.

The variety looks impressive both in flower arrangements and as a single planting. Since this rose does not have thorns, it is planted to create borders.

History of the creation of the Samba variety

The first variety belonging to the floribunda species was bred by the Danish breeder Svend Poulsen at the beginning of the last century. The following roses were crossed during breeding:

As a result, the new roses received from their “parents” such positive qualities as strong immunity, high resistance to diseases, and strong shoots. The main advantage of the new perennials is their long, abundant flowering. For this quality, all such bush roses were combined into one group, called floribunda - abundantly blooming.

Rose Sambo Party Floribunda is one of the most beautiful in this group. This variety was bred in a German nursery, headed by the famous breeder Cordes. There is no data on what varieties of these flowers were used when breeding the Samba Pati rose. One can only assume that Samba rose has much in common with the similar variety Rumba. The main difference between these roses is the larger flowers of Samba, collected in small brushes. What these two varieties have in common is the two-color color of the buds - yellow petals with a reddish border around their edges.

Note! The color of the flowers may darken or lighten depending on changing weather conditions.

Description and characteristics of the variety

The rose variety Samba Pati belongs to the floribunda category. Translated, this means “abundantly blooming.” The culture lives up to its name, since flowering lasts all summer. At the moment of blooming, the flowers have a yellow tint with a scarlet border around the edges. They then turn bright scarlet with small yellow stripes.

Blooming inflorescences reach 8 centimeters in diameter. At the same time, they practically do not smell. The height of the crop reaches 90 centimeters. It is characterized by compact dimensions. The width does not exceed 60 centimeters. The leaves are dark green in color and have a shiny texture.

The plant is resistant to frost and easy to care for. The culture tolerates precipitation well. Cut flowers can stand in water for up to 15 days.

Reproduction of floribunda roses: planting and rooting

Liana wood-killer: how to grow a green beauty in the garden

The best way to propagate abundantly flowering floribunda roses is the cutting method. Lignification of shoots is a signal to begin harvesting planting cuttings. Branches as thick as a pencil are cut to approximately 8 cm long, taking into account that the upper cut of the cutting should be 0.5 cm above the bud

Pay attention to the correctness of the cuts: the top one is made at a right angle, and the bottom one is made at an angle of 45°. The lower part of the cutting is freed from foliage and thorns and deepened into the ground almost halfway. It is recommended to treat the edge with a preparation containing phytohormones before rooting.

It is recommended to treat the edge with a preparation containing phytohormones before rooting.

The planting groove is dug to a depth of 15 cm and a width depending on the prepared cuttings, taking into account that the distance between them should be at least 15 cm, but not more than 30. To ensure direct growth of the plant, one side of the hole is made strictly vertical. Having planted all the planting material, they set up an impromptu mini greenhouse. For this, polyethylene film is used.

Throughout the entire rooting period, the cuttings must be ventilated, watered, fed, and loosened the soil. If buds appear on the cuttings, they should be removed, since the production of a developed root system and a healthy, strong seedling depends on this. For wintering, young animals are covered with two layers of insulating material, which is covered with the same polyethylene. It would be ideal to keep the growing bed for two years. In the third year, mature new bushes are planted for permanent residence.

Preparing the soil for floribunda roses: planting must be correct

Floribunda roses are very sensitive to the consumption of light, heat and air baths. Therefore, the place for planting them is chosen with special care. The area should be well lit and protected from drafts (the influence of northern and northeastern winds is especially harmful). The best time for planting in Russia (if it is not in its southern regions) is spring.

A handful of superphosphate fertilizers and the same amount of bone meal are added to the mixture.

Since the root system of floribunda roses does not tolerate cramped conditions, the size of the hole in depth and width should be at least 0.5 m. If the seedlings have a graft, then its penetration into the soil should be 2-3 cm below the surface, which promotes the formation additional roots. After filling the hole with the seedling with an earthen substrate, abundant watering is carried out, and the hole is covered with sawdust to retain moisture.

Floribunda rose care

It is easy to care for roses - they need to be provided with regular watering, loosening, mulching and pruning.

Watering

Rose Eden Rose - description and characteristics of the variety

Watering should be systematic. The soil should not be allowed to remain dry for a long time. One flower requires at least 10 liters of water.

At average ambient temperatures, it is enough to moisten the soil once a week. During the summer heat, the plant needs to be moistened twice a week. In autumn, watering must be reduced.

Attention! Watering is carried out only in the morning or evening hours. It is impossible to moisten the soil when the sun is high and very hot.

Feeding

To grow a beautiful flower, it is recommended to fertilize it. During the period of active growth, mullein is used, which is added no more than 2 times with an interval of 2 weeks. In the last days of summer, compounds with potassium and phosphorus are added.

Adding nutrients is the key to long and abundant flowering

Pruning and shaping the bush

In order for the rose to reveal all its charm and look neat, it must be pruned. Rules and recommendations:

  • Spring - sanitary pruning is mandatory, which helps to rejuvenate the plant and give the bush the desired shape. You need to remove blackened branches that did not survive the frost. The shrub must be deflated so that it does not become overgrown and lose its decorative properties.
  • To ensure long and abundant flowering, medium pruning is carried out: shorten shoots from 4 to 6 eyes, old shoots older than 2 years are completely cut off.
  • At the end of autumn, pruning is necessary in order to cover the plant before the cold weather. You need to cut the shoots to 40 cm.

Additional Information! Floribunda roses Flame of the East, Eslanda Robson, Danko's Heart can be pruned in the summer to stimulate continuous flowering.

Scheme for correct plant pruning

Protection from diseases and pests

Floribunda has a strong immune system, and any diseases can occur on the rose only due to uncomfortable conditions for it. In particular, due to excessive watering, fungus may appear on the plant. Prevention of fungal diseases - spraying with copper sulfate or Bordeaux mixture.

Parasites such as aphids and spider mites can attack the flower. Protection against them is insecticides, for example Karbofos, Actellik. But they should only be used if insects have been noticed on the plant. If they are not there, it is recommended to use a more gentle, but quite effective remedy - a solution of laundry soap.

Attention! To prevent the rose from getting sick, it is important to avoid stagnation of water after watering, be sure to loosen the soil, and regularly fertilize the plant. Spring and autumn pruning of roses plays an important role in disease prevention.

Wintering

Floribundas are most often winter-hardy flowers, but in regions with severe frosts the bushes still need to be protected. Preparing roses for winter:

  • in late spring, cut off the remaining withered buds, trim the foliage;
  • young branches are removed, which with a high degree of probability will not be able to survive the cold and will turn black;
  • the plant after preparatory pruning should not exceed 40 cm;
  • Spud up the rose and cover it with peat.

In regions with severe frosts, additional cover of the flower with spruce branches is recommended.

In regions where there is no severe frost, it is enough to sprinkle the flower with earth or sand

Choosing a place for a rose, planting features. Care in spring, summer, autumn

The variety "Rumba Climbing" is distinguished by its extraordinary ability to change the color of its petals from yellow to bright scarlet.

The rose “Rumba Climbing” exactly repeats the properties of the variety of the same name from the floribunda group, on the basis of which it was bred.

A climbing hybrid needs:

in good lighting. Due to lack of light, the flowering color loses its brightness. protected from wind and draft. In a draft, roses are weakened and therefore become susceptible to disease. in loose, rich soil

It is important to take care of soil aeration and fertility in advance, before planting the plant. It is ideal when the soil in the planting pit is prepared in the fall, and planting work is carried out in the spring.

For the variety "Rumba Climbing" you need a plant mixture of this composition

StructureSandy loam, light or medium loam
AcidityNeutral
FertilityHigh

Tip #1. It is not always possible to purchase organic fertilizer. But, any gardener always has the opportunity to prepare compost from plant residues and food waste.

Note! The transformation of raw materials into humus naturally takes at least six months. And with the use of EM drugs (effective microorganisms), biochemical processes are accelerated several times

Namely, from the moment the plant residues are placed in the compost until the useful fertilizer is obtained, one and a half to two months pass

But there is an important circumstance: effective microorganisms are a living culture that actively develops at a positive temperature of + 120. This means that it is better to use them in spring, summer and early autumn

EM preparations are applied no later than two weeks before planting along with organic fertilizers.

Effective preparations are used for all plants, not only during planting, but during further care.

Caring for the Rumba Climbing variety is no different from other climbing roses. After establishment, the bushes require:

  • Watering,
  • Fertilizing (see → Feeding garden roses in spring: types of fertilizers and methods of application),
  • preventive protection against diseases.

When irrigating, each young bush will need at least 10 liters of water for a single watering. An adult bush needs 20 liters. It is better to water less often, but more abundantly. In hot weather, the intervals between irrigations are reduced.

If the rose is planted in fertile soil, then fertilizing will not be needed in the next two or three years. In the future, it is necessary to decide on the technology of care. If the choice is made in favor of EM drugs, then mineral fertilizers will have to be abandoned. They are not compatible with effective microorganisms. You can only use organic substances - humus, compost and ash. They are applied twice a year, in the spring after the snow melts, and in the fall before covering the roses for the winter.

Frost protection will be needed in cold regions, starting from zone four. In autumn, after harvesting fallen leaves, bushes:

In this form, the rose overwinters until the spring thaw.

This variety is one of the first to bloom. The positive aspects of growing the Niccolo Paganini variety on the plot are the plant’s resistance to cold, strong immunity to disease, bright color of flowers that do not fade even under strong rays of the sun.

Rose Floribunda “Blue for You”

Photo of Rose Floribunda “Blue for You”

A unique variety with shades of lilac and blue. The flowers have such a shape that even when fully opened they resemble a half-opened bud. Plant height is 80-90 cm. The bush is in flower until October. Feels equally good both in a sunny area and in partial shade. Like most Floribunda roses, the variety is resistant to frost and disease.

The uniqueness of the Paradise variety

Rose variety Paradise Weeks, 1978, this rose has a couple more names: “Burning Sky” and “Passion”

These names fully reflect the unique colors of this hybrid tea variety and immediately attract the attention of lovers of bicolor “queen of flowers” varieties.

It is very interesting to watch how the color of this rose flower changes during the flowering process. When the bud first appears on the stem, it has an even silver color (with a hint of lavender), and the edges of the opening petals have a slightly red border. But as the border around the edges of the petals blooms, it becomes wider and changes color to a rich crimson. And only the middle of the flower does not change its lavender color.

Description of the tea hybrid Paradise

The rather large flowers of this variety are cup-shaped, reach 5–6 cm in radius and have a pleasant and strong aroma. Moreover, the flowering of this shrub begins in the spring and continues almost the entire season.

The bush is erect, with medium branching of stems, growing no more than a meter in height. Due to its compactness and bright colors, it can serve as a decoration among flowers in a flower bed, as well as when the variety is planted alone on a plot.

The flowers on the stem are usually single, the stems are densely covered with thorns, and the foliage is soft emerald.

Subtleties of agricultural technology

If this variety grows in a sunny area, the color of the petals will become richer and brighter. But you should avoid planting this variety in places where the sun appears at lunchtime, since in this case the scorching rays of the sun can dry out the flower petals.

The variety is resistant to black spot and powdery mildew. This hybrid tea variety is moderately resistant to other diseases, but this rose has high frost resistance.

Strong pruning of shoots promotes new growth and repeated flowering.

Soil pH requirements:

  • From 5.6 to 6.0 (acidic)
  • 6.1 to 6.5 (moderately sour)

Reproduction methods: cuttings from semi-lignified and green shoots, grafting, budding.

Agrotechnical work for caring for the Paradise rose is standard - you need to ensure that the soil under the bushes does not dry out, fight weeds and apply the necessary fertilizers on time. You should also regularly inspect the plant in order to promptly identify the appearance of “harmful” bugs or signs of an incipient disease.

For prevention purposes, rose bushes should be sprayed several times a season (especially during the rainy season) with preparations that prevent the occurrence of powdery mildew and black spot. In addition, anthills in the area of the rose flower bed should be destroyed so that these insects do not bring aphids to the flowers.

Paradise is recommended for planting in flower beds in parks and squares and on personal plots. Flowers are practically not used for cutting.

Diseases

Rose Samba is resistant to many diseases. Most often, the plant is affected by fungal infections. Use special preventive solutions for such diseases. They protect the rose for a long period. Problems can also arise due to violations of the rules for caring for roses. Overwatering may cause rotting. Follow the rules of care, this is also a good preventive measure. If care rules are not followed, Samba rose can become a favorite plant for pests.

Reviews of Samba rose are mostly positive. Flower growers and gardeners are attracted by the abundant and lush flowering of roses. Maintenance will not be difficult. Roses can be grown together with almost any plant. Landscape designers create incredibly beautiful compositions using this variety of rose. Rose Samba will be an excellent gift or decoration for your garden. A bouquet of roses can delight with its beauty for several weeks.

Rose Elf description, proper care, pruning climbing roses

Rose Elf, or Elfe in English, has this name for a reason. It is difficult to find a flower more fabulous and unusual. The huge buds make one think of elven gardens. But is it so easy to grow a rose of this variety in your garden?

Description of climbing rose variety Elf

As the name implies, it belongs to the climbing category, but at the same time it has very tall, erect shoots with dense, dark green leaves. As for the flowering period, it covers almost the entire warm season.

But the bush’s resistance to negative temperatures is relatively low. It tolerates frosts down to -28 °C. The situation is much better with how the plant copes with diseases.

Elf is a resistant plant and is slightly susceptible to various diseases.

If he talks about the appearance of the buds, then it is quite difficult to convey their beauty in words. They can reach 14–16 cm in diameter. The color of the flower is predominantly white, but has unusual, light green or even yellow shades.

They give the rose a fresh and truly summer look. A double bud includes up to 50 individual petals. This is what accounts for its gigantic size. The aroma of this beauty can be classified as fruity.

It is quite intense, but not intrusive.

The climbing rose, the description of which you have read, was developed relatively recently. In 2000, the Tantau company from Germany created this masterpiece in its flower nurseries.

If you consider yourself a sophisticated, romantic person, then this flower will definitely find its place in your garden.

How to plant climbing rose Elf correctly

Before you start planting, you need to choose a place suitable for this particular variety. Rose takes weather changes quite calmly. But with intense exposure to sunlight, burns may appear on the leaves.

Therefore, it is worth choosing an area that will be in the shade for part of the day. At the same time, low-lying, windy places are also not suitable. It is there that the flower is most susceptible to the appearance of diseases such as powdery mildew and black spot.

Seedlings must be left in warm water for a day before moving into the ground. This is necessary to ensure that the entire root system of the flower is saturated with a sufficient amount of moisture. The ideal time for seedlings is April or May.

Immediately after planting the Elf climbing rose bush, you need to water it at the root and make sure that the ground does not sag too much. If this does happen, then it is necessary to add a certain amount of soil to avoid the seedling falling.

How to care for climbing rose Elfe

Further care for her is not difficult. Periodically, the soil around the bush must be loosened and, of course, visible weeds must be removed. Seasonal feeding also needs to be done on time.

But you don’t have to worry about regular watering. Rose Elf is a drought-resistant variety and grows quite calmly, receiving moisture two or even once a week. The water should be warm and its quantity should not be less than 20 liters per plant.

If you follow these simple instructions, the seedlings will take root well on your site.

Pruning rose Elf

Before you start pruning a climbing rose, you need to understand why you are going to do it. Creating a new bush shape or increasing the abundance of flowering.

To rejuvenate mature plants and increase the number of inflorescences, heavy pruning is usually used, leaving only 2-4 buds on each shoot. Medium or weak pruning forms are more suitable for shaping. In this case, more than 6 buds remain on the shoot.

To remove inflorescences that have already faded, only light pruning should be used. All these manipulations are best done in the spring. In the fall, only sanitary treatment is carried out if you notice any unhealthy parts of the bush.

A responsible attitude towards this charming beauty and high-quality care will ensure that the abundant flowering of the Elf rose will become one of the most striking decorations of your garden plot

These bright and unusual buds will attract the attention of all your guests, and for you their surroundings will be a great reason to spend time outdoors with your favorite book

Climbing rose Elf:

Bush pruning

Plant pruning is performed 2 times a year: in spring and autumn. At the forefront is spring pruning as the most basic and responsible. The quality formation of the bush depends on it.

To ensure that the pruning is carried out correctly and the cutting is not excessive, pay attention to the base of the bush. From there grow flowering shoots that interest you

The plant will bloom profusely throughout the season. Therefore, first of all, pruning should include the removal of thin and dry branches. We recommend leaving strong shoots, as there are usually few of them.

  • The top part is cut first.
  • The height of the shoot should be about 8-10 centimeters.
  • To make a rose bush more attractive, it is advisable to leave the buds outside the bush.
  • Always prune branches that are more than two years old.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=Uk0CkIqW8RU

The last stage is covering the roses for the winter. This issue is especially relevant for central Russia. Preparing roses for winter includes the following procedures:

  • Cleaning up the leaves and inflorescences remaining on the branches.
  • Pruning bushes to 35-40 cm.
  • Hilling up with earth 25-30 cm.
  • Cover with leaves. For example, oak. Spruce and pine feet will also work.

A snowy winter will dust the plant with snow, after which it will not be afraid of any frost.

Now you know almost everything about the Floribunda rose: what it is, what varieties there are, how to plant, prune and prepare for winter. We wish you success in creating a beautiful site together with Floribunda!

Landing

The rose itself is quite unpretentious and grows in almost any area. But if the soil is infertile, the bush will not grow wide and will be sparse. Therefore, if you want to get healthy and beautiful flowers, you need to take the choice of soil seriously.

Rose prefers good light and does not tolerate drafts. It is best to plant flowers next to other bushes or trees. The soil should be loose. There should be no stagnation of water in it. For planting, make a depression of 30-40 centimeters. Fertilizer, peat, and humus are added to the pit. The seedlings are planted in the soil and watered abundantly with settled water.

The main criterion for successfully growing Samba roses is the purchase of quality seedlings

Pay attention to the appearance of future plants, especially the roots. There should be no stains or damage on the roots. Before planting, if the root system is open, soak it in water

Before planting, if the root system is open, it is soaked in water.

Agrotechnics of cultivation

The seedlings are sent with a closed root system, so the bushes do not have problems with planting and further acclimatization.

Since the variety is unpretentious to planting conditions, as well as to further care, gardeners usually do not spend much time on basic agrotechnical activities related to caring for this perennial.

To get abundant flowering it is enough:

  • plant bushes in well-lit places, without drafts;
  • water the plant weekly with warm, settled water (8-10 l);
  • Apply fertilizing 5-6 times during the growing season: the first time feed with mullein, the second with urea, the third and fourth with mineral fertilizers (potassium, phosphorus, magnesium), the fifth with ash solution.

Rose propagation

You can propagate a rose by cuttings:

  1. Only mature, woody branches are suitable for cuttings.
  2. The selected shoots are cut above the bud, about 0.5 cm. The length of each cutting should be at least 8 cm. The width matters - it should be about the size of a pencil.
  3. A cut is made at the bottom of the cutting at an angle of 45°, the top is cut straight.
  4. All leaves and thorns must be removed from the bottom of the cuttings. Treat the cut itself with a growth stimulator.
  5. A hole about 15 cm deep is prepared in the ground.
  6. A cutting is inserted into the hole half its length. If several roses are planted nearby, the distance between seedlings must be maintained at 15-30 cm.
  7. Sprinkle the cuttings with soil and cover them with plastic wrap to create a greenhouse effect.

Caring for cuttings is easy. Every day the film must be removed for 20-30 minutes to ventilate the plant. If this is not done, the earth will rot a lot, mold will appear on it, and the cuttings will rot. Regular watering is mandatory, after which the soil is loosened. Fertilizers are introduced. Rooting of cuttings occurs within 2 years if all conditions are met. In the 3rd year, the rose can be transplanted to another, already permanent place.

Attention! Before cold weather, the cuttings must be covered with non-woven material, which is laid in two layers, with the fabric covered with polyethylene on top. Individual varieties of flowers can be divided by grafting; this is a simple and good method.

Seed propagation is practically not used. Planting seeds is a very long process that does not always give a positive result. In addition, when sowing seeds, it is not possible to convey all the decorative characteristics of the flower.

Cuttings of roses are carried out in the fall

How to propagate Samba rose

Samba rose should be propagated by vegetative methods:

  1. Cuttings. The procedure is performed during the beginning of lignification of the branches. Cuttings are prepared from shoots 1-2 centimeters thick. After which they are buried in loose soil and covered with film. The plant should be planted in a permanent place for the 3rd year.
  2. Graft. To carry out the procedure, rose hips are used as a rootstock. To do this, you need to make a T-shaped cut on the root collar, place a dormant Samba rose bud in it and secure it with film.
  3. Division. This method is only suitable for rooted plants. It is worth dividing the crop in spring or autumn. To do this, you need to dig it up and cut it into several parts with a sharp knife. Each fragment must have at least 3 shoots.

Prevention from diseases and pests

Pest Control

To combat aphids, you can use the drugs Alatar, Actellik, Karbofos.

In the fight against rose pests, an important point is the timely recognition of signs of their appearance. Each of the insect pests leaves characteristic traces of its presence:

  • Curling leaves with a sticky coating on them are rose aphids. The insect covers the underside of leaves and shoots. You can destroy aphids with infusion of tobacco, garlic or the drugs Actellik, Karbofos, Alatar.
  • Small white cobwebs on the leaves are spider mites. To combat it, the affected parts are first collected and burned, then the bush is washed with a solution of laundry soap and tobacco infusion. Treating roses with Karbofos, Actellik, and Commander will also help.
  • Leaves twisted lengthwise, reminiscent of cigarettes - rose leaf roller. All curled leaves must be carefully collected and burned. After this, the plant is treated with Decis, Karbofos, Nitroferen, Commander.
  • Foamy lumps on the shoots - slobbering pennitsa. They destroy it by pressing the shoot in the place where foam is noticed on the surface. Then the bush is washed with a stream from a hose and sprayed with Zeta, Inta-Vir, Rovikurt.
  • Drying, deformed shoots - rose sawfly. All damaged shoots are cut out, the bush is treated with Fozalon, Chlorophos, Decis.

Rose care

The main rule of care is timely watering. Rose Samba does not tolerate dry soil. The water is left to settle before watering. One bush requires 1 bucket of water. Warm water should be used for irrigation. An excellent option for all plants, without exception, is rainwater.

The frequency of watering depends on weather conditions. In hot weather, the rose can be watered every other day. It is necessary to navigate according to the condition of the soil. If the top layer is dry, then the soil requires moisture.

Pruning is a necessary procedure for all roses. The Samba variety is no exception. During pruning, old shoots, leaves and buds are removed. Pruning stimulates the growth and development of the plant. During the period of active flowering, pruning is not carried out. Before wintering, the bushes must undergo this procedure. You can also use pruning to give the bushes the desired shape. This type of pruning is called formative.

For the winter, the Samba rose is covered. With the onset of the first frosts, the bushes are covered with earth and dry leaves. Next, another insulation will be required. Wrapping with fabric or bags is perfect for this. At the beginning of spring, the bushes begin to open slightly. This is necessary for adaptation and hardening of the plant.
