  1. High yield - from 1 m² you can collect about 9 kg of fruits, 1 plant can produce 1.5 kg of ripe tomatoes.
  2. The thick skin protects the tomatoes from cracking and allows the farmer to transport the crop over long distances without loss.
  3. The plant does not require additional shaping, including staking and pinching.

Roman Myasnikov, Kirov, 65 years old region. The Altayachka tomato is an indeterminate mid-season variety that has a very long fruiting period. It is one of my favorite varieties to grow outdoors. The productivity is very high. From each bush you can collect up to 8 kg of tomatoes, and if the fruits are large, then 10-12 kg. The variety is unpretentious in care, does not require a large amount of fertilizing, and tolerates sudden climatic changes well. I have been planting it for several years now and every year the harvest makes me happy.

Ruslan Ovchinnikov, Astrakhan, 60 years old. I have been growing these tomatoes for three years. In the first year the harvest was low, but it was still very interesting to watch the growth and development of the seedlings. The second year was better. But this year I was surprised when I finally saw the fruits. They were large and very tasty. These are not the tomatoes that we buy at the market for 30 - 50 rubles per kilogram. Altai fruits turned out to be much tastier. They could be eaten just the way they grow, just in the garden.

The plant is determinate, standard, up to 90 cm high. The leaf blades are medium in size. 3-4 clusters are formed on the bushes, on which cream fruits are tied.

Features of cultivation

Soil for seedlings is made from a mixture of garden soil with humus or peat. It is possible to add a small portion of washed river sand, superphosphate and wood ash. Seeds are sown in containers or peat cups with a small depth, sprinkled with peat and sprayed with water. You can use mini-greenhouses.

Using individual containers will avoid subsequent picking. The plantings are covered with film and placed in a warm place. For seed germination, a temperature of at least 25 degrees is required. Tomatoes need to be planted in beds that were occupied by legumes, cabbage, lettuce, carrots or other cruciferous vegetables.

It is not advisable to use soil in which eggplants, physalis or peppers were grown. If there is no other option (for example, when using a shared greenhouse), it is recommended to replace the topsoil by thoroughly mixing it with peat or humus. Read how to prepare greenhouse soil here.

Before planting, the soil is loosened. Tomatoes are planted in holes located at a distance of 40 to 50 cm from each other. Row spacing 70-80 cm wide is required. Superphosphate mixed with potassium salts or wood ash (1 tablespoon per plant) is laid out in the holes.

During the season, 3-4 feedings are carried out with a complete complex fertilizer or organic matter (diluted mullein or bird droppings). Root and extra-root feeding is possible, for example, spraying with superphosphate diluted in water.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with the Arosa strawberry variety: description, reviews, video, photo

Seeds for seedlings are sown in any ten days of March. Planted under film in late May-early June. Harvesting occurs from late July to mid-September.

Garter

Already on the second or third day after planting the seedlings in open ground, the stem is tied to a trellis wire. The twine is secured under the first or second leaf, making sure that as the stem grows and thickens, the rope does not cut into the fabric.

Formation

Plants grow in one stem, cutting off all the stepsons and leaving a small stump in place of each. The lower leaves that have served their purpose must be removed. The signal to begin the operation is the yellowing of the leaf plates. No more than two leaves are removed at each time. The stem is exposed only up to 5-6 brushes.

Agrotechnics of cultivation

Sowing seeds can begin in the third decade of February - early March.
It depends on the region. Seeds can be planted immediately to avoid the picking stage. To do this, you can immediately use peat pots or sow seeds in one container, but 6 cm apart from each other to a depth of about 1 cm. After sowing, containers or pots, which are easier to put in one container, are covered with film. But first, the seeds are moistened from a spray bottle with warm water without lime.

Yes, before planting, the seed material can be pickled in a solution of potassium permanganate, then dried and a growth stimulant applied. This is done about a couple of weeks before the intended planting.

When the seedlings appear, in the first days they only need watering. Again, use a spray bottle and settled water so as not to wash away the fragile sprouts. Two weeks after the first shoots, the seedlings are watered with complex fertilizer for tomatoes. Feeding is repeated after another 2-3 weeks, if up to this point the seedlings have not yet been transferred to open ground or a greenhouse. And this happens in May or June, depending on the region.

Conditions for growing seedlings:

  • room temperature is at least 23-25 degrees;
  • good humidity;
  • good lighting;
  • additional illumination in cloudy weather.

During transfer to open ground or a greenhouse, the soil is dug up in advance, leveled, and a spoonful of complex fertilizer is added. During the season you will need to feed the crop 3-4 more times. You can use chemical fertilizers, or organic matter in the form of urea, manure, litter. 4 bushes are planted per square meter. In the first days after planting, it is better to protect the seedlings from the wind and night coolness.
