Description of Temptation variety strawberries - advantages and disadvantages

Description of the strawberry variety Vima Zanta

This Dutch variety is new for our summer residents. It was only registered in the Russian State Register in 2022. The well-known line of garden strawberries of the Vima series was marked by another bright star under the Zanta brand, along with the popular representatives Xima, Tarda, Kimberly and others. Our heroine is traditional, non-remontant, medium-early ripening, but sometimes you can find a description as ultra-early. It is famous for its gigantic size and excellent taste characteristics. If weather conditions are favorable, the first berries ripen by the end of May. Within about three weeks, in June, strawberries produce their main harvest, and it cannot be called particularly fruitful. Over the course of several weeks, berry picking will need to be done several times.

Vima Zant's strawberries have high immunity against fusarium, gray rot and verticillium wilt. There is susceptibility to powdery mildew in wet weather conditions and to attacks by various pests.

Origin and growing regions

The hybrid "Vima Zanta" appeared as a result of work on crossing the parent forms of "Elsanta" with "Corona" in Holland, by scientists from the company Vissers Aardbeiplanten BV. For more than ten years, variety trials of a hybrid variety have been carried out in our country. Only after this, registration took place in the register of selection achievements.

According to the regions of admission to cultivation, the following areas are recommended:

  • the entire territory of Belarus,
  • Northwestern and Central parts of Ukraine,
  • Central region of Russia, since the variety is adapted to a temperate continental climate.

Vima Zant's strawberries will thrive in the fertile soil of open ground, as well as when cultivated under protective shelters and in greenhouses. The variety suffers from both excessive dry weather and prolonged rains with cold nights. Strawberries tolerate moderate cold well and are considered frost-resistant.

Bush

Strawberry bushes look powerful and quite spreading. Light green leaves with a thick cover protect the fruits from the sun.

Most often, the leaves are folded into a shape resembling a boat, and this is a special distinctive feature of the variety and should not be confused with manifestations of diseases. Almost every bush forms a mustache, which allows the summer resident to calmly take care of reproduction. Plump flower stalks grow slightly above the level of the leaves, but under the weight of large fruits they stick to the ground. White strawberry flowers are bisexual, so there are no problems with pollination.

Berries

The fruits of our strawberries are simply amazing. The average size of the berry is larger than a matchbox, weighing from 20-30 g on average, but the most giant ones reach 50-80 g.

Strawberries have a pleasant, matte, red color, sometimes with pronounced orange or burgundy hues. In the first harvest, the shape is spherical, then it approaches elongated, in the form of a cone, and may be flattened on the sides.

If the weather is pleasant and crop care is normal, then the harvest will delight you not only with its size, but also with a pleasant taste with a slight delicate sourness. Tasting scores for our heroine range from 4.5-5 - for a harmonious sweet taste. Some gardeners find the taste slightly cloying. There is also a slight hint of wild strawberries and a wonderful honey aroma.

Gardeners note that the taste characteristics and aroma of Vima Zanta are higher than those of representatives of the well-known varieties Honey and Clery. The pulp of the berry is lighter than the fruit surface, very juicy and loose, which brings pleasure when tasting, but creates problems with transportation. Some specimens may have cavities inside.

In addition, the dense and narrow sepals quickly come off and the berries themselves fall into the hands, which also creates an unsightly appearance for commercial purposes. Therefore, our heroine is positioned as an excellent option for personal plots. Strawberries are especially good when fresh, just picked, but they can also be used for various processing methods (jams, preserves, compotes).

Housewives advise not to freeze these strawberries, as the berries lose their shape and aroma.

Pollinators and productivity

Our variety is self-pollinating. It is believed that in order for the size of the berries to be close to the maximum according to the description, it is necessary to plant other varieties nearby with a similar ripening period. In this case, the fact that the pistils of all flowers in the plantings pollinate is important. Scientists claim that just over 50% of flowers self-pollinate; in windy weather, the result increases to 70%, and with the active participation of bees - up to 91%.

The productivity of Vima Zanta is high; up to 2 kg of fresh, tasty large berries can be harvested from the bush. From 70 to 100 centners of berry wealth are collected per hectare of plantings.

According to reviews of Russian gardeners, from 800 to 1500 g of berries are removed from a bush. The maximum yield of up to 2200 g/bush was recorded on farms in Belarus. In the first year, the harvest is smaller, about 600 g/bush, since the peak occurs in the second or third year, with a berry cycle of four years. The variety requires updating in the fifth year of cultivation, otherwise you risk acquiring diseases; the fruits themselves will be much smaller and less tasty.

In central Russia, provided the weather is sunny, gardeners harvest about 90 kg of berries from one hundred plantings.

Frost resistance

It is believed that strawberries are winter-hardy, but since they are recommended for temperate latitudes, it will be difficult for the bushes to withstand temperatures below -25°C. The crop requires feeding for the winter and mandatory shelter in latitudes with harsh winters. If return frosts are possible in the spring, you should also take care of protecting the beds.

Characteristics

Already in the description of the strawberry variety Temptation, important characteristics of the plant are indicated. But gardeners also need characteristics that indicate the pros and cons of the crop. Only in this case can you decide to plant a hybrid of garden strawberries on the site.

Advantages

Let us first consider the advantages of the remontant variety Temptation:

  1. Early ripening and long fruiting. Harvesting is carried out as the strawberries ripen in several stages. According to gardeners, autumn berries are even tastier and more aromatic than summer ones.
  2. The taste characteristics are excellent.
  3. The harvest is planted immediately after planting remontant strawberries in the ground, and the length of daylight hours for the plant does not matter, just like the time of year. The harvest can be harvested, if conditions are right, all year round. This was the reason for the high interest of farmers in the hybrid form of the remontant strawberry Temptation.
  4. The high yield is confirmed by the description, reviews from gardeners and photos they send. From a garden strawberry bush, up to 1.5 kg of sweet and aromatic fruits are collected per season.

  5. The establishment is satisfactory, there is always enough planting material. Even on unrooted rosettes of the Temptation variety of the first order, flowers appear, and later berries.
  6. The ability to grow remontant cascade garden strawberries not only in the ground, but also in pots. This feature is widely used by landscape designers. Hanging long peduncles with flowers and berries look original when growing the Temptation variety in an ampel manner.

  7. Hybrid Temptation has average frost resistance; they overwinter without shelter at temperatures down to -17 degrees only under snow. In more severe climatic conditions, reliable shelter should be provided.
  8. In one place, remontant strawberries of the Temptation variety are grown for no more than three years.
  9. Resistance to strawberry diseases is high, but preventive measures should not be neglected.

Minuses

Strawberries of the Italian selection Temptation have obvious advantages, but some disadvantages also need to be mentioned. There are few of them, they are not so obvious, but they are still there:

  1. A large number of tendrils depletes the mother bush, so they need to be constantly removed during the season. Otherwise, the yield is reduced.
  2. Seed propagation of the remontant variety Temptation is not always possible even for experienced gardeners.
  3. Unstable watering, leading to drying out of the soil, leads to a sharp decrease in fruiting.

Pros and cons of the Vima Zanta variety

Strawberries have a number of benefits that we are happy to list:

  • The main advantage of this variety is the size and taste of the berries. Moreover, if the weight of garden strawberries can reach 50 g, its sweetness and aroma stand out favorably against the background of other varieties of gigantic sizes;
  • High yield - under the most favorable weather conditions and proper care, up to 2 kg of fruit can be removed from the bush;
  • The culture loves the sun and does not fade on clear hot days, and this moment makes summer residents from southern latitudes very happy;
  • Excellent resistance to such formidable diseases that can destroy the crop, such as verticillium, fusarium, gray rot, and other fungal and viral diseases of strawberry crops;
  • The variety is classified as a hybrid, but has powerful vine formation, which allows you to easily propagate your favorite bushes. A great way to earn a little extra money!

Vima Zanta was not without its drawbacks:

  • The complexity of commercial interests in mass planting for the sake of sale due to difficulties with transportation - the berries are very heavy and loose, requiring special equipment;
  • The variety is demanding in terms of care, especially with regard to watering (cavities inside are usually caused by irregular moisture) and fertilizing;
  • Loss of taste and beautiful shape of fruits when stored in the refrigerator;
  • In cool and rainy weather, the crop often suffers from powdery mildew.

These data allow us to judge the variety as an excellent and productive find for personal farms or the possibility of sale in markets in the immediate vicinity of the place of cultivation.

Harvest and storage

The beginning of July is not the earliest time for strawberries to ripen. But you can enjoy the excellent Vima Rin berries for 4 long months. The strawberries will not ripen en masse, but gradually. Along with ripe berries, the bush has ovaries and flowers.

It is best to harvest early in the morning, after the dew has dried. You can transfer this activity to the evening, the main thing is that the berries have time to cool off from the hot sun. Strawberries should be placed in small birch bark boxes or wicker baskets in a small layer so that the berries do not wrinkle. Strawberries picked with a tail retain their shape longer and do not flow. Damaged fruits are collected separately and immediately processed.

Vima Rina strawberries have dense pulp, so they can be successfully transported over long distances.

In the refrigerator, whole fruits are perfectly preserved for 4–5 days. Vima Rina is also great for longer storage - frozen. You can make jam, compotes, jelly, and marshmallows from it. But the greatest benefit can be obtained from eating fresh strawberries.

To preserve most of the vitamins and microelements, the berries are pureed with sugar. In this form, strawberries can be stored until the end of spring.

Strawberry jam is a great reason to spend a cozy evening with a cup of tea with friends

Growing strawberries

To make strawberries large and surprisingly tasty, agricultural technology requires some special features. It is important to note that Wim Zant's strawberries absolutely cannot tolerate thickening. It grows beautifully in separate bushes, at a decent distance from each other. At the same time, the culture forms many thin tendrils, rushing to take root. If they are not trimmed in time, the harvest will become considerably smaller.

To prevent large berries from having voids, it is necessary to observe the frequency of watering. Do not forget that mulching allows you to maintain sufficient moisture in the root zone. Fruiting will be much more abundant if you pamper our heroine with complex fertilizers and organic matter. Do not forget to protect strawberry beds from winter frosts and return spring frosts.

For many, Vim Zant's strawberries are still a new product, so there are disappointments, both in size and taste. But since the amount of delight and joyful surprise is growing in the reviews, we want to point out that the problem should be sought in errors in planting and care. If the location is chosen incorrectly, the fertile soil is not prepared, regular fertilizing is not applied and there are mistakes in watering, then Vima Zanta will not show everything that she is capable of.

Planting strawberries by Vima Zanta

Choose the right, healthy seedlings! It is high-quality planting material that is the key to a future excellent harvest. Excellent seedlings should have at least 3 leaves, without any damage or spots. The root collar must be at least 6 cm in diameter and free of traces of mold and rot. It is safer to buy seedlings in branded nurseries or online stores in closed form. If seedlings are taken from friends or at the market, carefully examine each bush.

If you plan to plant berries in the spring, then you need to harden the seedlings for a week outside, in the shade, and also remove the first flower stalks that appear.

Choosing a landing site

The planting location should be level and sunny, on the south side of your site. There should be no shading at all. Make sure that groundwater does not come close to the surface of the earth. If the beds are planned on a hill, it is necessary to level the ground as much as possible. Ideally, drip irrigation will be provided to the area where the berry crop is planted. You can make a drip irrigation system yourself, or you can purchase a ready-made one. Below are the options for such systems and their prices:

Vima Zant's strawberry grows well on light loam and sandy loam soils. The best yields can be expected on lands with a humus content of at least 3%. Particularly acidic and alkaline soils are not suitable; the soil should be neutral or slightly acidic. It has been noted that the crop does not tolerate soils with a high content of carbonates – calcified products.

Excellent predecessors for strawberries will be peas, parsley, and mustard crops.

If you are planning summer or autumn planting, then dig up the soil a month before planting the bushes and apply fertilizers (compost, superphosphate, potassium salts, nitrogen-containing additives). For autumn planting, such work must be done in the first autumn month.

When to plant Vima Zant

Optimal planting times:

  • In spring - from mid-April to the first ten days of May. In the south, work can begin in March;
  • In autumn - from the last ten days of July to the first ten days of September. It is best to plant strawberries in warm August. In this case, the seedlings have time to take root and become well established before winter. At the end of next spring, the first harvest can be expected on young bushes.

But for areas where cold weather comes early in autumn and winters have little snow, planting in spring is more preferable.

Planting scheme

The optimal planting pattern ratio is 35 cm between bushes and 45 cm between rows. The most minimal scheme for planting seedlings is 30*40.

Make the holes 8-10 cm deep. Add manure diluted with water (0.5 liter mash) and 2 tbsp. spoons of wood ash. Dip the roots into the holes and gently cover with soil. Compact the soil around the bushes, water and mulch with straw or peat.

Caring for garden strawberries

As we discussed above, irrigation plays an important role for an excellent harvest. The optimal way is to provide a drip option for moistening the plantings. If this is not possible, then sprinkling is best done in the evening, as the soil dries. After watering, carefully loosen the soil and remove weeds at the same time. A great way to retain moisture is to mulch the beds. This is very convenient if you cannot be on site every day.

Wim Zant's strawberries respond positively to fertilizing. Application of nitrogen-containing fertilizers at the end of March is required annually. Phosphate-potassium ones are added in late April-early May, and complex ones in the last ten days of September, for the winter period.

Preparing for winter

The variety is considered frost-resistant, but this is due to temperatures in the temperate climate zone, about -20 -22°C. Therefore, if you live in latitudes where winters are characterized by more severe frosts, in order to avoid freezing of the plantings, be sure to cover the plants with mulch and additional covering materials. It is better not to use leaf litter and very old straw, as harmful insects and rodents can overwinter in them.

In central Russia, when landing, it is necessary to immediately install arcs. Protective material, for example, agrofibre, is easily laid on them. The arcs must be installed in such a way that the covering does not touch the bushes.

Be aware that temperature changes affect the taste, which becomes watery, especially with spring return frosts. A protective cap in the spring will not only protect the plantings from repeated frosts, but also guarantee earlier fruiting.

Landing

When planting Temptation strawberries in a garden bed, you need to choose a slightly shaded area, protected from the wind and with deep groundwater. The place should be cleared of weeds, dug well and fertilized with organic and mineral additives. Humus and rotted manure at the rate of 10 kg per square meter plus wood ash (200 g per 1 sq. m) will be an excellent fertilizer.

For planting at home, flowerpots, pots or boxes are filled with fertile soil with a neutral pH value. Temptation strawberries are planted according to the following schemes: for open ground:

  • between seedlings - 20 cm;
  • between rows – 30 cm;

for flower pots or flowerpots:

  • There are 4 plants in a pot with a diameter of 24 cm.

Each bush needs to be watered abundantly. Watering is carried out daily until the strawberries take root in the new place.

Reproduction

As we wrote above, Wim Zant's strawberries form many tendrils, so the issue of reproduction is easily resolved. But if you managed to remove all the mustaches, and there is a need for new seedlings, then dividing the bush will help. Propagation by seeds is such a labor-intensive process that we will not consider it.

The method of dividing a bush is expressed in dividing the mother rosette in two and digging out half of the planting. The seedling is immediately planted in the prepared place without shaking off the soil from the roots. In the first three days, planting will look rather frail, but then the plant will take root and begin its growth and development.

Propagation by whiskers is even simpler - they are simply dipped into cups with a substrate of soil and water. As soon as the mustache takes root, it is cut off from the mother bush. Within a week, the small seedling is in the rooting stage in the cup. Then it, along with all the mash, is planted in prepared glasses with fertile fertilized soil. After 45 days, the seedling is ready for planting in a permanent location.

How is it grown?

Ampel-type strawberries are grown in different ways - in cache-pots, pots, vases, vertical cassettes, pyramids. The latter are constructed from any available means - barrels, pots, etc. Lawns are also decorated with this crop, forming bushes into trellises.

The plant looks great in winter gardens and on balconies - you can make a continuously fruiting arch from it. Bushes can also be planted in open ground, but this growing method is used much less frequently.

Landing requirements

In order for ampel strawberries to grow and bear fruit well, they are provided with optimal growing conditions:

  • soils are light, drained, with neutral acidity (5.2-5.5 pH);
  • 8-10 hours of sunny day - in a too shady place the crop may stop bearing fruit;
  • absence of drafts;
  • crushed green manure - nasturtium, mustard, rapeseed, phacelia - are added to the soil used for planting.

When planting hanging varieties, the seedlings should not be planted too deep and close to each other. If planting is done in the ground, and even in early spring, then it is important to prevent it from freezing on the soil by covering it with film or other covering material.

Planting methods and instructions for them

Seedlings are usually planted in April-May or August. Methods for growing ampel strawberries:

  • In pots. For planting, select a container such that there is 1,500 cubic meters per adult plant. cm of soil. Next, they begin to prepare the substrate; it is prepared from sand - 1 part, turf soil - 3 parts, peat - 6 parts. To improve fertility, the soil is fed with organic matter. You can also buy ready-made soil in a specialized store. In order for the seedlings to take root as quickly as possible, before planting they are removed to a dark place, buried in the ground. There are no special requirements for the pot, the main condition is a height of 30 cm. Holes are made in the bottom so that excess water can flow out. The following is the planting order: Place a thin drainage layer on the bottom of the pot. Expanded clay, pebbles, broken bricks are suitable. The prepared soil mixture is placed on top.
  • The seedling is immersed in a container - the roots should be located vertically, and sprinkled with earth.
  • Seedlings planted in pots are watered abundantly.
  • On the grill. Seedlings are planted in open ground. A lattice, mesh, or wicker fence is installed nearby. The grown mustache is tied to the lattice structure. The minimum height of the structure is 1 m. When planting seedlings in open ground, the minimum distance between them is 30-35 cm.
  • Pyramid. A pyramidal structure is built from boxes of different sizes. For example, take boxes of the following sizes - 20x20x20 cm, 30x30x30 cm and 60x60x60 cm. Having placed the boxes on top of each other, they are filled with earth.
  • Vertical beds. One of the ways to grow ampel strawberries in greenhouses. The most convenient way to make beds is from inexpensive plastic pipes - they are installed vertically in the greenhouse. The diameter of the pipes is approximately 50 cm. Holes with a diameter of 25 cm are made in them. The pipes are filled with nutrient substrate, irrigation is supplied to them, and then seedlings are planted. You can also grow strawberries in film bags suspended vertically, which are filled with substrate. Plants are planted in pre-drilled holes in polyethylene.

    “vertical beds” (growing strawberries in bags)

    Let's assume that it is decided to plant strawberries in 3-liter pots with further cultivation in a greenhouse. Work order:

    • Place the pots with a height difference of 70-80 cm. If the height of the greenhouse is about 2.5 m, 3 lines of strawberries will fit in it. The intervals between adjacent pots are 40 cm.
    • The greenhouse is equipped with drip irrigation.
    • The optimal temperature in the greenhouse is 19-25°C. At higher temperatures, complete pollination does not occur.
    • When the plants bloom, the greenhouse is opened for better pollination of non-self-fertile varieties. If the varieties are self-fertile, then the greenhouse must constantly maintain high humidity - at the level of 90%.

    If the greenhouse area is 1-2 acres, then the total harvest will be 5 buckets, which is half as much as when growing ordinary strawberries.

    Diseases and pests

    In all descriptions, the variety is positioned as a crop that is extremely resistant to most fungal and viral diseases, as well as pests. But garden strawberries rarely grow in the garden in deep solitude, and in proximity to other plantings. Also, lack of care and weather conditions can play a negative role in the development of diseases. Therefore, it is worth taking the following preventive measures:

    • Fight against the thickening of berry bushes, as poorly ventilated plantings can lead to the development of fungal diseases;
    • Loosening and mulching also helps prevent diseases;
    • Spraying the beds with an iodine solution (10 drops per 10-liter bucket of water) once every 10 days or a solution of mustard powder (100 g per 10-liter bucket of water) once every three days;
    • Spraying with a solution of potassium permanganate (weak, light pink) to prevent powdery mildew.

    The fight against diseases from the first signs of manifestation is expressed in the use of fungicidal drugs before the flowering stage.

    With powdery mildew, in the flowering stage, it is allowed to use colloidal sulfur (50 g per 10 liter bucket of water with a 10% solution of karbofos). Apply twice every other day. You can read even more about this in the article Strawberry diseases and their treatment.

    If pests prevail, then use the following methods:

    • Spider mites are afraid of the warm rain of karbofos solution (3 tbsp per 10-liter bucket of water). The temperature of the solution must be at least +30°C. After treatment, cover the plantings with polyethylene for three hours;
    • Mulch is an excellent way to protect berries from the invasion of slugs and snails;
    • You can fight ants in the following simple way: dilute 2 cups of 9% vinegar, 1 cup of vegetable oil (sunflower) in a 10 liter bucket of warm water. Spray the bushes;
    • A universal means of combating harmful insects and their larvae is the use of Bordeaux mixture. It can be used in a solution of no more than 5 g per 10-liter bucket of water and only until flower stalks appear.

    Care

    Activities for caring for Temptation strawberries include:

    1. Regular watering.
    2. Weeding and loosening the soil.
    3. Application of nutritional supplements.

    Strawberries in the garden need to be watered depending on weather conditions. The optimal frequency of watering is 2 times a week.

    Strawberries planted in pots need more frequent watering, as the soil dries out quickly. The frequency of watering in this case should be 2 times a day: in the morning and in the evening. You should not pour a lot of water into flowerpots. It is enough just to moisten the soil.

    The soil should be loosened regularly, to a depth of 3-4 cm. Weeds are pulled out as they appear. The Temptation strawberry variety does not tolerate extreme heat, so on particularly hot days the flowerpots need to be moved to the shade or artificial shading created, covering them from the sun.

    Feeding

    Strawberries need to be fed once every 15-20 days. It is recommended to make aqueous solutions from fertilizers and apply them during watering.

    The optimal feeding option is a mixture of the following composition:

    • 180 gr. superphosphate;
    • 40 gr. boric acid;
    • 20 mg potassium permanganate;
    • 30 gr. ammonium nitrate;
    • 1 mg copper;
    • 2 mg zinc.

    Mix all ingredients in 1 bucket of water. This solution is enough for about 50 bushes.

    Protection from diseases and pests

    Temptation strawberries practically do not get sick and are not damaged by dangerous insects. When growing in open ground, it is worth taking only preventive protective measures: spray with Fitosporin and Fitoverm in the spring, after planting, and in the fall, at the end of the season.

    Reviews from gardeners

    There are quite a lot of reviews on the Internet about Vim Zant's garden strawberries, as a new variety that has just begun to be tested in our country since about 2006, and in 2018 was successfully registered in the State Register. Most of them are extremely positive.

    Gardeners note the yield and large fruit, pleasant taste and aroma. There are also negative responses. They talk about curled leaves, which is confused with signs of diseases, smaller fruits, and a watery taste. But as we have already noted, many factors can be changed by correcting agricultural cultivation techniques.

    Victor, Moscow, 37 years old:

    I don’t know why they are so worried about the curling of the leaves, but I even like it, it’s immediately obvious that this is Zanta. And she has a lot of mustaches, she has to trim them. And large berries only in the first pass, and then one per bush. But the taste is a solid five! I will continue to test.

    Elmira, Kazan, 36 years old:

    I can’t take Vima Zanta to the market except in small packaging, it’s too juicy and crumbly, but it goes well with me. Large, beautiful, productive. The berry jumps right into your palm. So that the sepals remain on it, I cut off the stalk with scissors, so it’s more beautiful for sale. And it remains for home. We tried freezing it - it was porridge, but the jams were amazing. Well, just straight from the garden, it’s a total pleasure!

    Veronica, Chelyabinsk, 29 years old:

    I bought the Vima Zanta variety at the market, where they sell seeds, only two bushes to try. They praised it too much during the sale. I didn’t know about the leaves, you fool, I treated everything for powdery mildew! I removed the flower stalks, the mustache was unprecedentedly simple. Planted in the fall. I waited in the spring, beauty was born. The first berries were absolutely huge and so sweet that you were stunned. Then the usual sizes.

    Characteristic

    In German, the word "ampel" means lamp. Remontant strawberries are considered an ornamental plant; even any flower pot or flowerpot that can be hung like a lamp is suitable for growing it.

    The ampelous berry and climbing strawberry, which produce large fruits, are related species. The bushes bloom with pink flowers. A plant can be called a climbing plant, but this is not entirely true, since in order for it to curl around a support, its long mustache must be tied to supports.

    The peduncles of the culture are located on rosettes, and those, in turn, are located on the tendrils. Thanks to this property, the berry is harvested at different times of the year, even in winter. The collected fruits give way to the formation of new ones, this is a cyclical process.

    Advice: An ampelous plant requires good, albeit artificial, lighting.

    Ampel-type strawberries are resistant to cold weather. Specialists were breeding varieties so that they would produce a bountiful harvest and be resistant to diseases and temperature fluctuations. Gardeners fell in love with Queen Elizabeth, Tuscany, Homemade Delicacy and others.

    The hybrid strawberry Varnavin f1 also stands out. It can grow in a vertical container, flowerpot or tall flowerpot, nicely decorating the house or area around it. On one bush there are numerous long peduncles and tendrils. The berries are large and sweet, their pulp is dense and juicy. One strawberry weighs about 35 grams or more. The autumn and summer harvests do not differ in aroma or sugar content of the berries. The design of the bushes is beautiful and noticeable with its splendor. The variety's adaptation to different weather conditions is high, as are its yield, winter hardiness and susceptibility to bacteria.

    The Temptation f1 variety is a hybrid remontant large strawberry, and in protected soil conditions it bears fruit all year round. From one mature bush you can get about 20 large juicy strawberries. The berries are harvested 4 or 5 weeks after the bush has bloomed. The weight of one strawberry varies from 15 to 25 grams. The pulp is dense, sweet and smells pleasant. Ampelous bushes can grow in flower pots.

    Beautiful hanging bushes of the Siberian Garden have hanging garlands (up to 5) with large oblong scarlet strawberries on each plant. High beds, flowerpots and boxes are suitable for plants. Continuity of fruiting, called remontance, ensures home cultivation of the variety. At the same time, it is necessary to frequently loosen the soil, feed the crop with mineral fertilizer at least once every 14 days, and provide good lighting.

    The best place for honey strawberries

    For the plantation you need to choose sunny, level places. It is not worth planting garden strawberries in areas with a slope - they do not retain moisture well, and strawberries need moderately moist soil.

    Soil requirements for the honey variety:

    • acidity level is not lower than 5.5;
    • good breathability;
    • lack of groundwater.

    Honey strawberries grow well on balconies and in greenhouses. Plants rarely suffer from heat and dry soil and do not require darkening during the midday hours.

    Unwanted Precursors:

    • tomatoes;
    • eggplant;
    • potato.

    The best neighbors for this variety of strawberries are carrots, beets, green beans, legumes and onions. As well as any herbs and medicinal plants: parsley, tansy, calendula.

    Origin and growing regions

    American breeders from the city of Honeoye (New York State) worked on the creation of the variety in the late 70s of the last century, after which the resulting strawberry “Honeoye” (“Honeyo”, “Honeoye”, “Honoay”) was named. This variety was bred as a result of crossing the popular varieties “Holiday” and “Vibrant” (“Whitebrant”), from which it inherited the best characteristics: yield and large berry size.

    The variety is officially registered in State Registers:

    • Ukraine - under the name “Honeyo” in 2006, originator: agricultural enterprise “Podillya-Plant” (Vinnitsa region), recommended for cultivation in the forest-steppe zone;
    • Russia - in 2013, originator: North Caucasus Federal Scientific Center for Horticulture, Viticulture, Winemaking (Krasnodar), approved for open ground cultivation in the Central, Central Black Earth and North Caucasus regions.

    Maximum yield is ensured by growing the variety in a cover crop (in an artificial microclimate on protected ground)
