Description of the variety

Tomato bushes are indeterminate. The height of the plant reaches 2 m. There can be 6 - 8 fruits on one brush. The ripening of the crop occurs already on the 105th day from the moment of planting. The leaf mass is well developed. During the flowering period, 30 inflorescences can form on one bush. The quality of the crop is affected by the frequency of fertilizing. On average, you can collect 10 kg of juicy fruits from one bush.

Ripe fruits weigh from 200 to 400 g. The shape of the vegetables is round with a heart-shaped end. The volume and external contours of a ripe tomato are affected by watering and the amount of mineral supplements.

The color of tomatoes is bright yellow. The pulp is dense with fleshy veins. Large fruits do not contain seeds inside. The skin of tomatoes is thin. The harvested crop can be stored for one month subject to temperature conditions. Fleshy fruits do not lend themselves to long-term transportation.

The stem of the plant is powerful. To prevent the bush from losing its fertility, pinching is carried out. To do this, tomatoes form 2 stems. They are able to withstand more than 10 kg of ripe harvest.

general characteristics

The Altai variety belongs to the mid-early variety: it ripens 110 days after sowing.

Like most indeterminate (tall) varieties, the growth of the bushes is unlimited. The stems and shoots are strong (medium leafy), growing up to 2 m.

The main stem ends with a flower raceme (formed above the 9-12th leaf), the stepson from the axil of the cutting closest to the apical raceme continues the stem.

Description of fruits

The Your Majesty tomato variety is distinguished by its particularly decorative fruits: they are appetizing, massive, lemon-yellow in color, heart-shaped or flat round in shape.

Low-seeded tomatoes delight the hardworking farmer with juicy, medium-dense pulp, honey-like sweetness and a striking tart-fruity aroma.

Productivity

According to the description, the variety is famous for its long-term fruiting: the ovaries are formed before the first autumn cold. The first inflorescences appear above the 7th or 8th leaf, and up to 5 fruits ripen on the cluster.

Altai breeders say the average weight of a tomato is 500 g, but under favorable conditions, individual giants can even weigh up to 1 kg.

The average (guaranteed) yield of a bush is 2-3 kg; in the southern regions of Russia, a record 13 kg/m² (three bushes, one and a half meters high) was recorded.

Application

The tomato is good fresh: the sweet, fleshy pulp is great in salads and as an accent to country barbecues.

Experienced chefs use fruits for freezing, preparing and preserving (tomato pastes, spicy dressings, ketchups, lecho).

The yellow-golden fruits make excellent pureed juices of amber color and excellent taste.

Immunity to diseases and pests

With good care you can avoid diseases

Diseases of tomato crops are provoked by an excess (or lack) of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and aggressive bio-forms (late blight, mosaics, rot, mold and fungi of various types).

Altai breeders position their tomato release as moderately resistant to diseases and aggressive environments. And indeed it is. According to the experience of gardeners, the Your Majesty variety (with decent livelihood and care) can withstand weather fluctuations well and is not susceptible to pests and diseases.

There are tomato varieties that are resistant to certain fungal, bacterial or viral diseases, but there are no tomato varieties that are resistant to pests. All of them are affected by aphids, spider mites, bollworms, whiteflies, etc.

Regional positioning

Your Majesty's tomato is more suitable for greenhouse cultivation, but domestic farmers have developed good practice of growing in open ground in the southern and central regions of the country.

In central Russia, in the Ural and Siberian climates, tomatoes ripen well in film-type structures.

Gardeners claim that ovaries appear en masse in any weather; the tomato bush tolerates extreme heat and light frosts well.

Diseases and pests

Average resistance to diseases and pests of a particular tomato variety does not mean that difficulties will necessarily arise during cultivation. Experienced summer residents know that any, even the most complex problem can be avoided, what is needed for this:

  • remove all plant debris from the beds after harvesting;
  • alternate crops correctly;
  • monitor the composition and condition of the soil;
  • sow green manure;
  • Plant suitable repellent plants next to the tomatoes.

If initial signs of any disease are detected, treatment should be started immediately.

Advantages and disadvantages

Based on the characteristics, we can highlight the main advantage of the variety: adaptability to cultivation in difficult climatic conditions.

In addition, the following positive qualities are noted:

  • exceptional large fruit;
  • pleasant pulp structure, unsurpassed taste and sparkling aftertaste of golden fruits;
  • practical (artificially prolonged) fruiting periods;
  • high productivity;
  • unpretentiousness in cultivation;
  • culinary versatility.

Some annoying shortcomings include:

  • low immunity to diseases and pests;
  • tendency of fruits to crack;
  • the need for careful gartering of tomato shoots (the weight of the fruit obliges).

Positive and negative characteristics of the species

Tomatoes have positive and negative sides. Each summer resident reasons differently, so for some the presence of one sign is good, but for another it is bad.

Pros:

  • Stable high yield.
  • Unusual taste.
  • Versatility when using tomatoes.
  • The bushes bear fruit for a long time.

Minuses:

  • Susceptible to diseases.
  • Requires formation.
  • The tomatoes are cracking.

Agricultural technology

Indeterminate Your Majesty tomatoes require routine care.

But there is just one small subtlety: when harvesting seeds yourself, you should set aside several fruits (in huge specimens there is only one juicy pulp, without a hint of seeds).

Sowing seeds for seedlings

The timing of sowing seeds for seedlings is calculated according to the standard formula: 60 days must pass before planting plants in open or protected ground.

Seedlings are planted like this:

  • seeds are sown evenly in a starting container, watered and covered with glass or polyethylene;
  • when shoots appear, the cover is removed, the sprouts are carefully watered without waterlogging;
  • after the appearance of two true leaves, the seedlings dive;
  • An excellent solution is to harden the seedlings;
  • The formation of 5-6 true leaves on seedlings, a height of 25-30 cm, is a sign of the seedlings being ready for planting.

Transplanting seedlings and care

It is recommended to harden the seedlings

When cultivating tomatoes in open ground, seedlings are planted after the end of spring frosts. You can plant them in the greenhouse a little earlier.

3-4 plants are planted per 1 m². The distance between plants is 50 cm, and between rows - 70 cm.

The first watering is carried out immediately after planting the seedlings, and subsequent moistening is carried out after 7 days.

Tomatoes are not recommended for oily soils, abundant fertilizing and watering.

Overfed and waterlogged bushes become sick, grow excessive green mass, and bear fruit poorly.

The large mass of fruits obliges the farmer to carefully form the main stem and shoots, as well as a reliable garter.

You will need strong and stable stakes and a systematic sequence of tying as you grow.

When the height of plants of this variety is 2 m or more, for gartering and forming bushes it is better to use not stakes, but a vertical trellis, consisting of strong twine, with a free loop tying the plant from below and attached to the upper crossbar of the greenhouse structure. As it grows, the stem of the tomato plant is wrapped around the twine.

Features of planting and care

The seedling method of cultivation is often used. Seeds are sown in advance; each vegetable grower calculates the timing independently, depending on the weather conditions of the region. The age of seedlings transplanted to a permanent place should be 60 days.

Techniques for growing seedlings:

  • Lighting and temperature. For normal growth of seedlings, light is required at least 14 hours a day. Air temperature 20–22 ⁰С.
  • Watering. Drying or waterlogging of the soil is not allowed.
  • Feeding. To form a powerful stem and root system, complex fertilizers are used to stimulate growth.
  • Dive at phase 2 of the true leaf.
  • The seedlings are hardened off 1–2 weeks before transferring to the soil. Take it out into the open air. First for 15–20 minutes, then increase to 8–10 hours.

Place 3 plants per 1m2 on the beds. Summer residents recommend forming a bush with 2–3 stems; the growth point is removed when the bush is 1–1.5 m in height. Water as needed. The water used is warm.

Mulching and loosening the beds will help retain moisture in the soil longer. Removing weeds will help avoid the development of diseases and attacks by insect pests.

Errors during cultivation

The key to the productivity of the Your Majesty variety is not only timely sowing and planting, but also high-quality care throughout the entire cultivation period.

The Altai tomato is not particularly whimsical, but there are certain subtleties of cultivation.

  • Very often, beginning gardeners over-tighten the stems when tying them to the trellis. This threatens defective shoot development and stem bending.
  • The most common mistake is violating the timing and dosage of fertilizing.
  • Excess nutrition leads to “fatification” of plants: tomatoes grow powerful shoots, massive leaf apparatus, and “forget” about the formation of fruits.

What do summer residents say about tomatoes, Your Majesty?

Reviews about the variety are different; every summer resident has the right to his own opinion. You need to plant the plant yourself to understand what it really is. And specific recommendations are found in the comments of vegetable growers.

  • Yulia: “It is especially difficult to grow, since it requires a garter, but it’s worth it. The taste is excellent, the preparations are very beautiful.”
  • Anatoly: “I’ve been planting this variety for 5 years. During this time I have never been disappointed. Delicious and unpretentious tomatoes.”

Fans of large-fruited tomatoes will appreciate Your Majesty for its unusual taste.
