Collection and storage

The Aggressor variety is considered a late-ripening cabbage. It should be removed when cold weather sets in. Usually this is the last week of September or the beginning of October. Three weeks before the expected harvest of heads of cabbage, stop watering the plants. This is when the level of fiber required for long-term storage is formed. They begin cutting out heads of cabbage when the night temperature approaches 0°C, and the daytime temperature approaches 10°C. You will need a sharp knife, or even better, a small hatchet.

The heads of cabbage are cut off from the stalk, leaving 2–4 cm with several upper leaves. They will protect against pollution and will nourish you with useful substances for some time.

The harvested crop is sorted, separating damaged heads of cabbage. They will be used for processing (fermentation, pickling) and consumption. Vegetables are placed in a basement or cellar in two or three rows.

Storing forks hanging from racks is a great way

You can also store cabbage in the refrigerator. To do this, wrap the head of cabbage in a paper towel, put it in a plastic bag and tie it tightly. Freshness will remain for two months.

The temperature for storing cabbage should not exceed +2 degrees and fall below -5. Air humidity - 95–98% (not lower than 90%). The room must be ventilated periodically. No light allowed. Otherwise, the heads of cabbage will sprout.

When the right conditions are created, the shelf life of fresh cabbage increases to six months.

Planting cabbage seedlings - video

At the stage of 4-5 permanent leaves, prestige cabbage seedlings can be transplanted to a permanent place in open ground

. The timing of transplanting seedlings is the last ten days of May - the first ten days of June.

The area for this vegetable crop should be well illuminated by the sun's rays, fertile, and the soil should be loose with a slightly acidic reaction.

The diameter of the planting holes for planted seedlings is 0.6 m, and their depth is 0.5 m. It is recommended to plant no more than 5 plants per square meter

.

Before planting plants, mineral fertilizers, as well as humus or compost (if the soil is severely depleted), are added to the holes.

Further care for Prestige cabbage

Prestige cabbage is demanding on soil moisture

, does not tolerate even short periods of drought, so it is necessary to irrigate so that the soil in the beds is always moist. However, excessive watering can provoke the development of certain diseases.

In autumn, the amount of watering is reduced, and in the rainy season it can be stopped completely.

. A couple of weeks before the expected harvest of heads of cabbage, you should not water the cabbage.

Also, at least once a season, the plants should be hilled up so that the growing heads of cabbage do not fall to one side. The soil is loosened a day after watering, and all weeds are removed.

Natalya, 50 years old, Samara: For a long time I wanted to choose a late-ripening variety of cabbage for planting in my garden that could be stored in the cellar until the next season. Finally I picked it up - it turned out to be a Prestige hybrid. Smooth, dense forks have a pleasant taste and are juicy. Each fork collected from the garden turned out to weigh more than 2.5 kg. And the harvested harvest lasted almost until April.

Elena, 39 years old, Volzhsky: I have a fairly large plot of land allocated for a vegetable garden, where I also grow late cabbage for sale during the winter. The Prestige hybrid turned out to be very good in this regard. The harvest turned out to be large, the forks are dense, large, juicy, do not crack, and last almost until spring. Therefore, during the winter period, I sold more than half of the harvest at the market - my cabbage was “torn off with my hands.”

In April, the invasion of the cruciferous flea beetle and cabbage fly begins, which are repelled with insecticides. A late-ripening variety can be affected by cabbage moths, cutworms, white moths, and mole crickets, against which insecticides are used.
