Cardinal Wyszynski (otherwise Kardinal Wyszynski) is a herbaceous clematis variety bred in Poland at the end of the 20th century. The length of the vine is 2-3 m, the diameter of the buds varies from 10 to 20 cm. Non-double petals are burgundy in color, and their shade depends on the soil composition under the bush and the location of the hole. For the outstanding properties of clematis, Cardinal Vyshinsky was awarded the Plantarium 1990 gold medal.

Flowering variety Cardinal Vyshinsky

Description of Clematis variety Cardinal Vyshinsky

Clematis Cardinal Wyshinsky has a high growth vigor, so it wraps around supports in a short period of time, covering unsightly surfaces. The height of the plant varies within 3 m, the diameter of the strong root system reaches about 100 cm.

Every year, many young shoots appear on the crop, which manage to become covered with wood before the arrival of cold weather. All shoots are leafy. The leaves are slightly elongated, ovate, have sharp ends and emerald tint of the plates.

Long and strong peduncles appear on the plant, on which one large flower is formed. The latter consist of 6 long petals, which have small teeth on the edges. The flower reaches approximately 20 cm in diameter.

Buds are formed exclusively on the shoots of the current season. The petals are colored red, which gradually changes to purple. The stamens have a white base and burgundy tips. The flowering stage is long. The first buds form in early June, the last ones finish blooming in September.

Landing Features

The clematis variety Cardinal Vyshinsky is distinguished by a high degree of survival rate; it tolerates unexpected frosts and cold weather well. With proper planting, the bush can live in one place for up to 15 years.

Recommended timing

The strong root system of the Cardinal Vyshinsky hybrid is capable of withstanding both autumn and spring replanting. The variety has a high degree of regeneration. The optimal time for planting clematis with an open root system is spring. In April, when the buds have not yet begun to grow, it can be placed in a permanent place of residence and left there for 15 years.

Choosing a suitable location

The clematis variety Cardinal Vyshinsky has no special requirements for orientation to the cardinal points. Warm and sunny places are preferred. When planting a herbaceous vine you need:

  • choose a place where there is no draft or strong wind;
  • to plant a bush near a support (building wall, fence, tree), retreat 0.5 m from it;
  • Water should not collect in the planting area after rains and snow melting.

The soil chosen is fertile with a neutral acidity level. Saline soils inhibit the growth of the Cardinal Vyshinsky hybrid and reduce the survival rate. You can alkalize the soil with lime in the proportion of 0.2–0.3 kg per 1 sq. m. If the area is prone to waterlogging, the bottom of the planting hole is lined with a 0.1 m layer of drainage. Quartz sand, perlite and vermiculite will protect the plant well from waterlogging.

Selection and preparation of planting material

It is easiest to root seedlings from containers. In a good plant, all the roots are collected in a lobe, reach a length of 0.2–0.3 m, and are elastic. The shoots of young clematis are undamaged, fresh and 0.4 to 0.6 m in height. Before planting, this variety requires soaking the roots for 24 hours in a growth stimulant and clay solution.

Landing algorithm

The Cardinal Vyshinsky hybrid is planted in the following way:

  • prepare a hole with a depth of 0.6 m and a diameter of 0.6 m;
  • the bottom is lined with drainage;
  • cover the seedling with fertile soil so that the neck is 0.08–0.12 m below ground level, sprinkle it 3–4 cm, forming a small hole;
  • As the shoots sprout, add more soil;
  • To form a bush, the first pinch is made for a sprout of 10–15 cm, the second at 20–30 cm and the third at 40 cm.

With this planting, clematis adapts to new conditions in 1–1.5 weeks. The lobe takes root well and produces a lot of growth. It is located deep enough so as not to suffer from either heat or frost.

Conditions for keeping the plant in open ground

It is advisable to carry out planting work in the spring season, so that the seedlings with a lump of soil can fully adapt during the growing season. If the roots are open, the procedure must be carried out before the buds awaken and sap begins to flow. Therefore, planting should be done at the end of March or beginning of April.

Lighting

In the south of the country, it is advisable to plant the crop in a semi-shaded area so that the petals do not fade and the plant does not overheat.

In cold climates, it is better to cultivate the flower in a container or box, placing it on the south side of the house.

Temperature

The variety is frost-resistant, so it can withstand temperatures down to -35 °C. With the onset of winter, it is recommended to cover the plantings with spruce branches or special fabric material.

Humidity

The plant does not tolerate high humidity. Therefore, it is not recommended to plant it in areas where water accumulates after precipitation or snow after melting.

Soil and drainage

The soil cover should be fertile, with good drainage and a low level of acidity. If the soil layer is poor, it is recommended to add humic acid, mullein, and humus. For alkalization, it is necessary to use lime, crushed chalk or dolomite flour. For 1 m2 you will need 300 g of substance.

Watering

The variety prefers regular irrigation. For young seedlings, 2 buckets of liquid at a time are enough. For adult plants, approximately 3 buckets of liquid are needed, the volume of which reaches 10 liters. During the procedure, liquid should not fall on the leaves, otherwise the plant will begin to rot. If this problem occurs, you will need to get rid of the deformed part of the crop and burn it.

After irrigation, it is necessary to get rid of weeds in the circle around the trunk and mulch. Thanks to this, the root system will not overheat and the soil cover will remain moist for a long period of time. You can also plant low-growing crops in the form of alyssum, marigolds, pansies, and petunias near clematis.

Planting and caring for clematis Rouge Cardinal

Clematis of this variety is unpretentious to growing conditions. With proper care, the life expectancy of Rouge Cardinal can reach 20 years.

The planting pit is prepared in advance - wait until the soil settles. It is worth considering the placement of the support in the center. At home, it is not recommended to plant the bush close to a wall or close to a metal fence.

Recommended timing

The Rouge Cardinal variety is planted in the warm season. It could be spring, summer, autumn. The best period for rooting is September, early October.

Choosing a suitable location

When choosing soil for a variety, preference is given to light, nutrient-rich soil with moderate acidity. Acidified soils are neutralized with alkaline compounds. Heavy and salty soils should be avoided.

When choosing a location, take into account that drafts and winds do not contribute to the fruitful growth of the Rouge Cardinal variety. The plant should not be planted in the shade or under the aggressive rays of the sun. The best option is partial shade.

Selection and preparation of planting material

A frost-resistant variety with excellent characteristics can be purchased at garden stores, nurseries, and flower growers.

Important! In the description of seedlings of clematis grandiflora (caper) Rouge Cardinal, it is often written that the roots were stored in a cold, damp substrate. You shouldn’t attach any importance to this - as a rule, this is a kind of marketing ploy by sellers

Such seedlings are usually planted in special containers or immersed in bags of peat.

If the root system is exposed, soil moisture should be monitored. The roots should not be allowed to dry out. When purchasing clematis grandiflora Rouge Cardinal marked marque, it is advised to carefully examine the root, since the integrity and health of the rhizome is a condition for the successful rooting, growth and development of the plant.

Landing algorithm

By following simple rules and adhering to the recommended scheme, you can get a healthy and well-developed clematis vine of the Rouge Cardinal variety. For this:

  • prepare a hole for planting (half a meter in all directions);
  • the bottom is lined with broken brick drainage;
  • add organic fertilizer;
  • cover with saturated soil;
  • place the rhizome, spreading it evenly;
  • the seedling is covered with the root collar (5-8 cm);
  • the soil is compacted;
  • watered.

It is important to cover the root collar well with soil - this is the guarantee that the plant will endure frost painlessly. Important! The liana needs a garter - clinging to its tendrils, clematis can curl quite high

When planting a seedling, you should take this nuance into account and provide all the conditions for proper weaving of shoots.

Step-by-step instructions for growing

Rooted cuttings, risen seedlings or purchased container seedlings are suitable for planting.

In order for young plants to develop successfully, planting material must be of high quality:

  • fresh shoots should reach about 40 cm in height, and they should be free of any deformations with defects;
  • there should be no rot on the roots that are collected in a lobe;
  • the shoots must be fully formed, elastic and reach 25 cm in length.

The root system should not be open. Otherwise, before transplanting into the soil cover, it is recommended to immerse the roots in an infused clay solution, to which a small amount of organic matter must be added.

Step-by-step instructions for growing:

  1. After deeply digging up the area in the soil layer, make a planting hole, the depth and diameter of which should be 60 cm.
  2. Fill the base of the pit with a drainage layer based on vermiculite, perlite or river sand. The drainage thickness should be 15 cm.
  3. Prepare a substrate consisting of 100 g of superphosphate, humus, wood ash and compost. Fill the hole 1/2 full with soil mixture.
  4. Place the seedling in the middle, evenly distributing the root shoots and covering it with substrate.
  5. Deepen the root collar by 12 cm, leaving the lower buds in the soil cover.
  6. Upon completion of planting, irrigate and mulch the substrate using crushed coal, ash or peat.
  7. Install a small pole near the plantings, to which you can later tie the crop.

Is it necessary to replant the plant?

In one place, the “Cardinal Vyshinsky” variety can be cultivated for 25 years. In this regard, it needs timely replanting, like any other variety of perennial plants.

Since the crop develops a strong root system in breadth and depth, it cannot be moved to a new location without deformation. In this regard, the plant will adapt to the new site within 2 seasons. To facilitate adaptation, it is necessary to correctly determine the time for the procedure.

The optimal time for transplantation will depend on the local climatic conditions:

RegionsOptimal period
Cold climate areasIt is advisable to replant shrubs in the spring season. This is due to the fact that with the onset of autumn, frosts often appear, and the crop needs from 30 to 45 days to fully adapt.
Middle laneIt is better to carry out the procedure in early April.
Ural and SiberiaThe transplant must be performed in early May. In this case, the average air temperature should be at least +8 °C. The soil cover must be completely dry from melt water.
Subtropical regionIt is recommended to carry out the procedure in September or October, since in this region there are at least 45 days left before the onset of frost, so the plant will be able to adapt to the new area. As a result, after 12 months, flowers will appear on the crop.

Before the buds awaken, the culture is at rest, so it can easily withstand transplantation. During this period of time, the flower is able to adapt to the new area and grow roots that were lost during the transfer.

In the summer season, it is not advisable to replant, since the growing season and flowering are in progress. If the procedure is performed during this period, the natural life cycle of the plant will be disrupted. As a result, it will not be able to fully adapt to the new terrain.

Reproduction methods

Like all varieties, clematis Cardinal Vyshinsky can be propagated in several ways. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. And everyone has their supporters and their opponents.

  • Seed method.
  • Cuttings.
  • Dividing the bush.
  • Layerings.

Seeds

The seed method is not particularly popular, as it has significant disadvantages. Often, seeds do not retain the varietal characteristics of the mother plant in the next generation. And what will grow from the seeds is unknown.

The second disadvantage of this method is that the growing period is too long compared to others. You can grow clematis Cardinal Vyshinsky from seeds as follows.

Fresh plant seeds are kept in the cold for 2-3 months. In February, they need to be planted in pre-prepared soil and constantly watered until sprouts appear. As the sprouts grow, they need to be thinned out, leaving the most viable and strong ones. Before transplanting into open ground, they are planted and grown at a temperature of 15˚-18˚C.

Cuttings

Cuttings are more popular among gardeners than the method described above. Thanks to propagation by cuttings, you can immediately obtain from 2-3 to several dozen rooted clematis bushes Cardinal Vyshinsky.

Briefly, propagation by cuttings is as follows. The clematis shoot is cut into pieces, leaving 2-3 buds on each, and rooted in the soil. Subsequently, the young seedlings are provided with proper care until they are transplanted into the flower garden.

Dividing the bush

Dividing the bush allows you to immediately get up to 3-5 healthy, full-fledged clematis bushes, which are accepted very quickly and begin to bloom a few months after planting. When propagated by dividing the bush, clematis Cardinal Vyshinsky practically does not get sick, quickly takes root and allows you to enjoy flowering during the planting season.

Preparing the soil for replanting

To perform the transplant correctly, it is necessary to prepare the soil cover in advance.

For these purposes, it is necessary to do the following:

  1. Dig a hole so that the diameter and depth are 70 cm. Fill the base of the recess with any drainage layer, the thickness of which should be at least 12 cm.
  2. Make a support near the hole, fixing it firmly in the soil cover.
  3. To fill the hole, prepare a substrate consisting of 5 liters of sand, 10 liters of humus, 15 cm of fertile turf, 100 g of nitrogen and complex potassium-phosphorus fertilizer. In the autumn season, add only phosphorus and potassium.
  4. Fill the hole 1/3 full with soil mixture.

When planning to transplant a plant in the spring season, soil preparation should be done at the end of the last season, 2 weeks before the arrival of the autumn period.

Description

Clematis of this variety is a shrubby vine that can grow up to 3 meters in height. The plant is capable of entwining natural supports (trees, bushes), as well as climbing along the walls of houses and artificial structures. Used for planting in tubs on balconies and loggias. The variety is a late flowering variety, flowering is continuous and abundant.

"Rouge Cardinal" blooms continuously and profusely

The leaves of clematis are small, trifoliate, pinnately compound, and dark green in color. In one season, the plant can form up to 5 shoots, which become woody over time. The root system of the shrub is powerful and can go into the soil to a depth of 1 meter.

Flowers

Clematis flowers of this variety are unusually beautiful: burgundy or purple in color, velvety. The plant can decorate any landscape; it looks especially impressive against a light background (for example, entwining white walls). The flowers reach 15 cm in size, the stamens are bright yellow, the anthers are pale purple.

The flowers have dark purple petals and yellow stamens.

Clematis of this variety begin to bloom relatively late, starting from the end of June on the shoots of the current year. But the flowering period is continuous and lasts until September, at which time the bushes are literally strewn with flowers.

The plant is used for vertical gardening, planted near the walls of houses, near gazebos and decorative arches. In one day, shoots can grow up to 10 cm in length, quickly entwining supports. Clematis is suitable for growing not only in open ground, but also in tubs on balconies, loggias and terraces.

Endurance

The variety is considered unpretentious and stable, but does not tolerate stagnant moisture and overheating of the soil. It is also quite frost-resistant, able to withstand temperatures down to -34 ℃ (subject to shelter).

The plant is not very susceptible to diseases; most often their occurrence is provoked by incorrect agricultural practices, for example, waterlogging of the soil. The most common diseases of this variety are fusarium and wilt. To prevent diseases, experts recommend treating the plant with fungicides. It is moderately affected by pests such as spider mites, flies or nematodes. Spraying the vines with insecticides in spring and summer can save you from them.

Planting and care

Since the plant is perennial and can grow in one place for 15-20 years, the planting site must be chosen especially carefully. The main enemy of clematis is wind - so plants should be placed in places without drafts. The bushes love sunny open spaces (with ample light the flowers become larger), but light partial shade is also suitable for them.

When planting seedlings, you need to use support

Regarding the composition of the soil for planting, clematis “Rouge Cardinal” is unpretentious, but it takes root best on light soils with a slightly acidic reaction. When planting, you need to remember that plants do not tolerate stagnant water and overheating of the soil, so you should use drainage and mulch the root layer of soil.

The seedlings are placed in a pre-prepared hole measuring approximately 50 x 50 x 50 cm. It is not recommended to place the bush close to the walls; it is better to make an indentation of approximately 20 cm. Since the bush grows significantly, the distance between plants should not be less than 1-1.5 m.

Caring for clematis requires standard agrotechnical measures: watering, pruning, fertilizer. Plants love water, so they need to be watered at least 2-3 times a week, and more often during droughts. Clematis should not be fed during flowering, but before flowering it is appropriate to use phosphorus or potassium fertilizers.

Trimming group

Separately, it is worth mentioning about pruning. Clematis “Rouge Cardinal” pruning group is 3, that is, the plant’s agricultural technology requires radical removal of the above-ground part before wintering. In autumn, the stems are cut almost to the base, or 2-3 buds are left on each. If the site is located in a region with long and cold winters, the bushes are additionally covered. Flowers in this variety are formed on the shoots of the current year, so such techniques not only do not harm the plants, but, on the contrary, stimulate the spring regrowth of shoots and help increase flowering activity.

Is it necessary to prune the plant?

Clematis belongs to pruning group 3 because buds begin to form on this year's branches. Before the arrival of the winter season, the “Cardinal Vyshinsky” variety needs to be shortened to the root or to the second node. In order for the plant to winter successfully, it needs to be covered with a mulch layer.

Before carrying out the procedure, you should check the instrument by preparing it for use. In this case, the pruning shears must be disinfected with an alcohol solution. Cuts on branches should be treated with garden varnish. If the pruning is carried out incorrectly, flowers will not appear on the plant next season.

Reviews from gardeners about the variety

Anna Sergeevna, 38 years old: “I grow Cardinal Vyshinsky on my balcony - I haven’t noticed any special problems in caring for clematis. For the winter, I cut off the shoots and move them to a cold room, and when spring comes, I again install the pot on the balcony.”

Tamara Vladimirovna, 57 years old: “One of my favorite varieties at the dacha. It blooms profusely and for a long time, the buds are large, I cover it lightly for the winter, so clematis tolerates frosts without problems. I didn’t notice any diseases during the entire growing period.”

Why does the plant dry out and turn yellow?

There are several main reasons why a plant can turn yellow and dry out:

  • presence of diseases;
  • non-compliance with the irrigation regime;
  • landing work was carried out with violations;
  • the appearance of insect pests;
  • Difficulties with nutrients.

To correct the situation, it is necessary to get rid of factors that adversely affect culture. If the flower was planted incorrectly, it needs to be transplanted to another area.

Advantages and disadvantages of a flower

Clematis is an unpretentious, beautiful plant that does not require special knowledge from the gardener. Its main advantages are:

  • Versatility - it takes root well on any soil, in any part of the country.
  • Unpretentiousness - no special care or special additives are required.
  • Variety - you can choose interesting varieties and colors, combining them together to get an extraordinary and memorable landscape.
  • Flowering - abundant flowering continues from mid-spring and ends only in autumn, that is, the gazebo, which is decorated with clematis, will not be empty.
  • Convenience - if you wish, you can grow varieties in containers or ordinary large pots.

The liana does not always tolerate overheating of the root system well, so you need to cover the soil with compost.

It is advisable to plant lavender near the ground, which will help protect the roots of the plant from strong sun.

Clematis should be protected from fungal diseases, in particular powdery mildew. This disease affects clematis only if there is excessive air humidity and there are numerous weeds around.

Pest and disease control

Clematis Cardinal Vyshinsky has good resistance to many diseases. Fungal infections pose a danger to him. In rare cases, the plant is affected by powdery mildew, covering the foliage with a white coating. The causes of the disease are considered to be too frequent replanting, overgrowth of weeds and high humidity.

Septoria may occur with Alternaria and gray mold. Clematis rarely suffers from yellow leaf mosaic virus. The roots and foliage of the plant can be attacked by slugs, snails, spider mites, aphids, butterflies and nematodes. In this regard, it is necessary to regularly carry out preventive treatment.

Therapeutic and preventive methods include the following:

  • in the spring season, shrubs need to be watered with a bucket of water using 200 g of lime to prevent the crop from withering;
  • to protect against powdery mildew and gray mold, it is necessary to use fungicidal compounds;
  • For general spraying of the plant, a 1% solution of copper sulfate is suitable.

If part of the crop is contaminated, it must be removed and burned. Often, the factor in plant infection is moisture that gets on the leaves during irrigation.

Rules for caring for Cardinal

The health of the bush and the abundance of flowering depend on competent agricultural technology and compliance with gardeners’ recommendations. Clematis does not require anything complicated - irrigation, fertilizing, weeding, pruning according to the group, preparation for winter, disease prevention - that's all that Cardinal Vyshinsky needs.

Regularity of watering

The regularity and abundance of watering directly depends on the climate of the growing region and the presence or absence of natural precipitation. On average, clematis Cardinal Vyshinsky is watered once every 7 days, and this is done in the evening after sunset. One adult bush will require from 20 to 30 liters of non-cold, settled water. In the case when the heat lasts for a long time, the frequency and volume of water poured is increased - irrigation is carried out twice a week.

Which fertilizer does the plant prefer?

During the first growing season after planting, there is no need to add nutrients - clematis has enough fertilizer in the hole. Starting from the second season, they begin feeding, which is carried out according to the following schedule:

  • Spring - use complete mineral complexes, humus or compost.
  • Summer (flowering period) - add additional potassium compounds.
  • Beginning of autumn - phosphorus-containing complexes are used.

Under no circumstances should fresh manure be used to fertilize clematis.

Loosening the soil and removing weeds

To provide the root system of clematis with a sufficient amount of oxygen, after each precipitation or irrigation the soil is loosened, but this is done carefully and to a depth of no more than 20 cm. At the same time, weed roots are selected so that they do not choke the plantings of the crop and do not take away its nutrition

In addition, weeds cause the development of various clematis diseases.

Trimming

The procedure is carried out according to the pruning group to which Cardinal Wyshinsky belongs. That is, in October, before preparing for the winter period, all clematis shoots are cut off, leaving no more than 30 cm from the ground level. During the growing season, if necessary, a sanitary procedure is carried out - broken, dried and diseased branches are removed.

Preventative treatments

To prevent the spread of diseases, fungal ones are considered the most dangerous and common, preventive measures are carried out, for which fungicidal preparations are used. Also, if the soil was heavy, the plant is affected by wilting. For prevention purposes, clematis are sprayed in the spring with a solution of dolomite flour (200 grams per bucket of water).

Preparing for winter

After autumn pruning, they begin to prepare the plant for wintering. To do this, dry fallen leaves are placed on top of the clematis, and the top is covered with spruce branches. In colder regions, a wooden box is placed on top, and plastic film is stretched over it, but several holes are made for air circulation.

Fertilizers for plants

During the season, it is necessary to feed the plant 3 or 4 times using the root method. The crop should be fertilized during the growing season, before the flowering stage and after. Universal garden products are suitable, as well as a small amount of humus or peat. It is contraindicated to introduce fresh organic matter.

Mineral mixtures

Complex mineral compositions together with salts of humic acids show good results. Nitrophoska and ammophoska have almost the same composition of elements that are contained in gumi products.

When purchasing granules, they must be placed under mulch in an amount of 30-100 g for each shrub, taking into account the age of the plant. When using a soluble composition, 10 liters of liquid will require 25 g of raw material.

Organic fertilizers

Since fresh organic matter cannot be used, it can be replaced with high-moor peat, leaf humus or rotted compost.

Possible difficulties in growing

When growing crops in the garden, some difficulties may arise, mainly associated with violation of the rules of care. If the plant is planted in an open area, the flowers will lose their bright shade. Under the influence of ultraviolet rays, the petals will begin to fade.

Since the crop belongs to pruning group 3, it is not recommended to leave the vines before winter. Otherwise, with the onset of the spring season, the clematis will rot. As a result, lush flowering will be absent. To prevent such a problem from occurring, it is necessary to prune the crop in a timely manner.

If the root collar is too deep, the plant will develop poorly and have weakened roots. As a result, such a culture will not last long.

Review of the best varieties

When summing up the results, it is time to consider the most beautiful clematis of the third pruning group, included in the popularity rating:

The variety Paul Ferges adequately represents white clematis of the 3rd pruning group with strong growing shoots. During the season, the lashes can stretch up to 7 m in length. The shoots have good tenacity to any support. The flowering period lasts from July to early October.

Gardeners who prefer double clematis of the third pruning group will like the variety Purpurea Plena Elegance. The lashes grow 2.5 m long, but can stretch up to 3.5 m. The double flower reaches 9 cm in diameter. The petals are red with a purple tint. A special feature of the variety is its abundant and long flowering from the beginning of July to the end of September.

Varieties of pink clematis of group 3 have a gentle charm, of which Comtesse de Boucheau stands out. The lashes stretch from 3 to 4 m in length. The flowers are large, about 15 cm in diameter. The petals are pink, with slight waviness along the edge. The stamens are yellow. The variety is characterized by long flowering, starting in July.

Another representative of snow-white clematis is the Roko-Colla variety. The culture was developed in Estonia. The liana is independently capable of clinging to any type of support and can even braid a coniferous tree. However, the length of the lashes is small, maximum 2 m. Snow-white flowers with cream veins on the petals appear in August, delighting with their beauty until October

Considering clematis of the third group of pruning, varieties, photos, lovers of new products can pay attention to Morning Sky. Liana was bred by Polish breeders

The bush throws out lilac flowers. Pink veins are clearly visible on the petals. Flowering lasts from June to August.

Considering the best varieties of clematis of group 3, it is worth stopping to look at the beauty Madame Julia Correvon. From June the bush is densely covered with red, wine-colored flowers. The liana fades in September. The plant tolerates cold winters well, adapts to any type of soil, and does not require complex care. The vines are vigorous, capable of stretching up to 4 m. Designers and gardeners use the variety for arranging hedges. A mesh is often used as a support.

Those who like to decorate gazebos and other recreation areas with hedges will like the Grunwald variety. The flowers grow large, reaching a diameter of 12 cm. The petals play with a purple tint in the sun. The lashes grow up to 3.5 m long. Flowering begins in June and continues until September.

The variety Arabella pleases with purple flowers. The creamy corolla adds elegance to the inflorescence. The variety is often planted in the garden to decorate recreation areas. Flowering begins early - in June. The liana fades in October. The lashes grow up to 2 m long. The bush is so densely covered with purple inflorescences that sometimes the foliage is not visible behind them. The variety has good winter hardiness. Due to its short stature, Arabella can be grown on the balcony.

When considering pink clematis 3 groups, varieties, photos, special attention should be paid to Alyonushka. The low-growing vine throws out beautiful bells. The bush grows only 1.5–2 m in height. Flowering begins in June and ends in September. The liana has good frost resistance. The plant easily takes root in the middle zone. The disadvantage of this variety is the inability to independently weave shoots. The stems must always be tied to a support.

The Danuta variety will appeal to lovers of large flowers. The petals of the inflorescences are slightly wrinkled, wavy along the edge. The color is pink with a lilac tint. Flowering is early, starting in June and quickly ending in July. The lashes grow up to 3.5 m long, but on average they stretch about 2.5 m. The shoots are able to easily cling to supports on their own. The plant tolerates frosty winters well.

There are many varieties and types of clematis of the 3rd pruning group, it is almost impossible to consider all of them at once.

Breeders are constantly developing new flowers adapted to different climatic conditions. True clematis lovers should constantly monitor new products, and when they appear, try to grow them on their own plot.

Use in landscape design, examples

History of selection

At the end of the 20th century, in 1983, in the Polish botanical garden, breeders received a new clematis hybrid. It belongs to the herbaceous vines, is distinguished by its unpretentiousness, the ability to survive severe frosts and other unfavorable environmental factors. The flowers are large, burgundy in color, changing saturation depending on the composition of the soil.

The name Cardinal Wyszynski was given to the new variety in honor of Stefan Wyszynski, primate and metropolitan of Warsaw. It was given for its color, reminiscent of the festive outfits of the high priests and other outstanding qualities. In 1990, at the quality exhibition, clematis was awarded Plantarium gold.
