Release form and chemical composition of Topsin-M

This fungicidal drug is available in powder form and is highly soluble in water. They produce Topsin-M, SP

in packaging of 0.01, 0.025 and 0.5 kg for use in small private farms. This fungicide is also packaged in bags of 1 to 10 kg. This packaging is intended for use over large areas.

Also on sale are Topsin-M, KS

in the form of a concentrated emulsion, this product is packaged in 1 and 5 liter bottles. The liquid product should be diluted and used in the same way as the powder form.

On a note!

The main active ingredient included in the Topsin-M fungicide is methyl thiophanate. Topsin-M, SP powder contains 70% of this component, and each liter of fungicide suspension (Topsin-M, KS) contains 500 ml of this active component.

Analogues of the product

There are products from a series of fungicides that contain the same active ingredient.

"Rex Duo" - its active components: thiophane-methyl 31% and epoxiconazole 18.7%. The drug blocks the formation of cell membranes of the fungus, leading to its death. Available in the form of a suspension. Used for cereals, sugar beets against powdery mildew, pyrenophorosis, septoria.

"Phoenix Duo" is a two-component drug containing thiophane-methyl 310 g/l and flutriafol 250 g/l. Designed to protect against fungal (anthracnose, septoria, rust, scab, blast) grain crops, apple trees, grapes, beets.

Agrochemicals with another active substance: Fitosporin-M, Abiga-Pik, Quadris, Previkur Energy.

For what crops is the drug used?

Fungicide Topsin-M is produced by the famous Japanese company Nippon Soda Co., Ltd

, this product is currently registered and actively used in many countries around the world, including Russia.

The drug Topsin-M effectively treats the following cultivated plants against fungal diseases:

  • winter wheat;
  • spring barley;
  • sunflower;
  • tomatoes;
  • cabbage;
  • sugar beets;
  • vineyard plantation;
  • apple trees.

At home, you can use Topsin-M fungicide to combat fungal infections on the following indoor plants:

  • orchids;
  • azaleas;
  • cyclamens.

These flowers should be treated with Topsin-M diluted according to instructions.

This product also has insecticidal properties, so it can destroy some types of harmful insects:

  • a number of aphid species;
  • soil nematode and some other pests.

We must remember!

Fungicide Topsin-M is the most effective of all similar products in the fight against powdery mildew.

Description of the properties of the drug

In agrochemical stores, the drug “Fitosporin-M” is presented in several modifications. Each of them retains the main active ingredient, but the additives change depending on the culture. Gardeners and summer residents choose a universal option, vegetable growers are interested in a specialized modification for potatoes and tomatoes, and a separate product is provided to stimulate the growth and protect indoor plants.

"Fitosporin-M" is a white or gray powder. Sold in bags weighing 10–300 g. Packaged shelf life is about 4 years. The disadvantage is the need to pre-soak the powder, since it takes a long time to dissolve in water. There is another form of “Fitosporin-M” - a paste in 10-200 g bags. The thick paste easily dissolves in water. Unlike powder, it has a dark color. Indoor plants are cared for using a liquid composition poured into bottles and canisters. The solution is gentler on plants. The powder and paste do not smell, and the liquid smells like ammonia before diluting with water.

What diseases does Topsin-M help with?

The fungicide helps to cope with diseases that affect crop plants:

  • gray rot;
  • brown rust;
  • coccomycosis;
  • Clusterosporiasis (hole spotting);
  • leaf curl;
  • root rot;
  • late blight;
  • cercospora;
  • moniliosis;
  • fruit rot;
  • oidium;
  • fusarium;
  • anthracnose;
  • powdery mildew;
  • Alternaria blight;
  • scab;
  • spots on leaves, etc.

What is Fitosporin

Fitosporin is not only an effective biological fungicide against fungal and bacterial diseases, but also an organic fertilizer. It contains a preserved living predator bacterium Bacillis subtilis, which lives and “works” at temperatures from –20°C to +40°C.

When applied to the soil, it cleanses it of pathogens for a long time in the fall. Thanks to this, Fitosporin is one of the best environmentally friendly drugs for combating plant diseases.

Mechanism of action of the fungicide

The Topsin-M fungicide solution, prepared strictly according to the instructions, when sprayed, gets onto the foliage, penetrates inside and spreads with the plant cell sap throughout the entire vegetative mass and roots.

As a result, this fungicidal agent reaches the source of infection and negatively affects the spores, blocking their development

. Topsin-M also stops the reproduction of mycelium threads.

If the drug is used as a protective agent, then it not only protects plants from fungal infections, but also improves the health of garden and vegetable crops.

When treated with Topsin-M fungicide, the period of plant protection from fungi is 2 weeks.

. When plants are damaged as a result of pruning or due to weather conditions, the timely use of Topsin-M helps to increase the immunity of the plants. As a result, fungal infections will not be able to enter the wounds, and the crop will not become infected.

Brief overview of Topsin

Compliance with safety measures when treating plantings with fungicides

Topsin's instructions for use state that when working with the drug, precautions must be taken. In terms of danger to humans, the fungicide belongs to the second class. Topsin will not cause any particular harm to the skin and mucous membrane, but you cannot spray without a respirator and rubber gloves. It is advisable to wear glasses when processing trees. From a height, sprayed mist will settle and may get into your eyes.

A special feature of Topsin is its effective action aimed at almost doubling the yield. Farmers take advantage of this. When processing your plantations, you need to take into account that there will be no particular harm to bees and birds. However, fish have a hard time with the fungicide getting into the water. Topsin should not be used near bodies of water. It is strictly forbidden to pour out the remaining solution and wash the equipment in water.

Advantages and disadvantages of the drug

The main advantages of the fungicide Topsin-M include:

  • cost-effectiveness of product consumption;
  • the drug effectively destroys fungal formations of various structures and varieties;
  • actively fights various harmful insects;
  • fungicide Topsin-M is not phytotoxic, so the product can be used to restore diseased and weakened plants;
  • the product has a rapid effect on pathogenic microorganisms - it begins to fight them within the first 24 hours after treatment;
  • if Topsin-M is diluted exactly according to the instructions, it is harmless to bees and birds;
  • the product has a healing effect on plants affected by the disease;
  • Topsin-M can be used in tank mixtures; it is compatible with all chemicals except those that have an alkaline base;
  • the fungicide can simultaneously control diseases of various etiologies;
  • The protective effect of the drug can last for plants for 25-30 days.

It is also noted that after treating cultivated plants with this preparation, their yield can increase by 2 times.
The disadvantages of this tool include the following:

  • Topsin-M fungicide is toxic to the inhabitants of water bodies, therefore it is prohibited to carry out treatments near the water protection zone. Also, do not pour the remaining fungicide working fluid into water bodies;
  • This drug cannot be used frequently to treat the same crops, as resistance may arise to them, so the desired result after spraying will not be achieved;
  • To ensure that the fungicide does not have a negative impact on the environment and does not harm humans, you should carefully study the instructions before use, dilute the product and spray in accordance with the instructions.

Advantages and disadvantages

One of the main “advantages” of the product is its effectiveness against a wide range of infections. Moreover, the effect is visible already in the first hours after spraying. On average, the result (protection) lasts up to two weeks, but for small lesions the protection lasts up to 25-30 days.

Also among the advantages:

  • the presence of a therapeutic effect (used both as a means of prevention and as a means of treatment);
  • insecticidal effect;
  • lack of phytotoxicity;
  • has a positive effect on the growth and development of plants, helps strengthen the immune system;
  • ease of use;
  • compatibility with most pesticides, fungicides, and insecticides used in agriculture. Exception: copper-containing compounds;
  • affordable price.

This is the only drug from the benzomidazole group that “works” even under unfavorable conditions (possibility of frost, decreased temperature).

Among the "cons":

  • not suitable for mixtures with drugs that give an alkaline reaction;
  • causes pathogens to become addicted to the composition, so the fungicide cannot be used continuously.

Any fungicidal agents require careful study of the instructions, adherence to dosages, consumption rates, and timing of treatments. Experts advise changing medications in any case, taking into account the characteristics of each in order to get the desired result.

Topsin-M: preparation of working solution

The Topsin-M working solution is prepared on the day of spraying strictly in accordance with the instructions

.

Important!

You cannot store diluted liquid, because it quickly decomposes and loses its positive properties.

Spraying is carried out in clear, windless weather. All crops cannot be processed during the flowering period. It is best to treat plants during the period of active growth of green mass.

During the season, no more than two sprayings with Topsin-M fungicide can be performed.

, the interval between which should be at least 13-15 days.

Typically, the working fluid for treatment is prepared as follows: first, the required dosage of a powdered product or concentrated emulsion is dissolved in ¼ of the total volume of water until the drug is completely dissolved. Then add water to the bottle to the required volume and stir again. After this, the working fluid is ready for use.

To prevent sediment from forming at the bottom of the solution during spraying, the container must be shaken periodically during processing. 10-15 g of fungicide should be diluted in a bucket of water.

Fungicide Topsin M - use on plants

Precautions when working with the drug

The chemical can cause significant harm to human health. Therefore, all work on preparing and spraying the working fluid must be carried out in a protective suit, rubber gloves, mask and goggles.

In case of contact with the skin or mucous membranes of the concentrate or the finished mixture, you must:

  • rinse the contact area thoroughly under running water;
  • use laundry soap without additives;
  • go to the hospital to consult a doctor;
  • at the intermediate stage it is worth drinking absorbents.

Application of fungicide Topsin-M for the treatment of garden and vegetable crops

Fungicide Topsin-M should be diluted in different dosages to treat various garden plants. How to process different cultivated plants will be discussed below.

Depending on the formulation and manufacturer of the drug, the consumption rates are slightly different.

Topsin-M (Green Belt): instructions for use

Topsin-M for cucumbers

Cucumbers are treated with this drug against the following fungal diseases:

  • powdery mildew;
  • olive brown spot;
  • gray and white rot;
  • anthracnose of cucumbers;
  • fusarium;
  • verticillium.

It is most effective to treat cucumber vines with a fungicide against fungal diseases before and after the flowering period.

The working solution of the drug is prepared as follows: 10-15 grams of the product are dissolved in 10 liters of water - this amount is used to treat 1 hundred square meters of plantings (1-2 sprayings per season).

The drug protects cucumber vines from fungal diseases for 30 days after treatment

. But the last treatment with this product must be done no less than a month before the start of harvesting ripe cucumbers.

For beets and other root vegetables

Sugar beets and other root crops are treated with Topsin-M fungicide against cercospora and powdery mildew. Spraying is carried out no more than 3 times during the summer period.

For the first time, these vegetable plants are treated with a fungicide for preventive purposes. The next two treatments are carried out with an interval of 7-14 days. As a result, throughout the growth and maturation of root crops, they will be protected from fungal pathogens.

Topsin-M, KS: instructions for use for sugar beets

Treatments must be calculated so that at least 3 weeks remain from the time of the last spraying until root crops are dug up.

Up to 300 liters of working fluid are consumed per hectare of area. The application rate of Topsin is 0.6-0.8 kg of product per hectare.

Topsin-M for fruit trees: apple trees, pears

Apple and pear trees, as well as plums and apricots, are treated with Topsin-M solution against the following diseases:

  • powdery mildew;
  • scab;
  • moniliosis;
  • late blight.

Typically, spraying is carried out in the spring - before the flowers appear and during the active formation of ovaries.
All fruit trees are treated with Topsin-M, KS three times per season. Depending on its size, you need to use from 2 to 10 liters of working solution for each tree.

On a note!

Unfortunately, different packages of the product contain slightly different instructions for use. In any case, treatments of fruit trees are carried out with a 0.1% working solution of the drug Topsin-M, and for other plants, information on the rate of consumption and concentration of the drug in the working solution may differ.

After treatment, the fungicide protects the treated tree for 20-30 days.

Topsin-M for peach processing

Peach trees are sprayed with Topsin against peronospora, bacteriosis and athracnose. To prepare the working solution, use 15 g of the drug per 10 liters of water. One treatment of fruit trees is carried out during the growing season.

Topsin M 70% against grape rot, anthracnose and currant powdery mildew

Topsin-M for black currant and other berry bushes

These berry crops must be treated with Topsin-M fungicide against powdery mildew, anthracnose, and gray rot.
In total, 2 sprayings of berry fields are carried out during the summer. For each hectare of area, up to 1-1.5 liters of working fluid are consumed. During spraying, each bush requires 5 liters of working solution.

The treatment is carried out during the growing season of berry bushes about a month before harvest.

Important!

If you have a personal garden plot, then you can use a more understandable dosage to prepare a working solution: 10-15 grams of the drug are dissolved in 10 liters of water. Spraying is carried out before flowering and after harvesting.

After the ovaries appear on the berry bushes and before harvesting, you cannot spray with Topsin-M. The fact is that the berries on these perennials ripen quite quickly, so the harmful substances from the fungicide do not have time to decompose in them. And the harvest of such fruits cannot be used for food.

Topsin-M for strawberries

The instructions for use do not say anything about the application rates of Topsin-M when spraying strawberries, so you can try using a standard 0.1% working solution to combat various diseases of garden strawberries.

Important to remember!

If prophylactic treatment of strawberries with Topsin against gray rot was carried out, then if other diseases occur in the future, the berry plant will have to be treated with other drugs, since resistance to the product may arise.

Topsin-M for grapes

The grapes are treated with a fungicide against oidium and gray rot. The solution for treatment should be prepared as follows: dissolve 15 g of the product in 10 liters of water; spraying should be carried out during the growing season of plants.

Topsin-M for roses

The instructions for use of the drug Topsin-M do not contain information about recommendations for use for roses, but you can use the general rules for diluting the drug: 1 ml per 1 liter of water.

Spraying of all plants is carried out during the growing season.

Purpose of Fitosporin

Fitosporin is a systemic drug that spreads throughout the vascular system of plants. It is a preventive and therapeutic agent against the following diseases: Alternaria, powdery mildew, bacteriosis, bacterial spot, bacterial cancer, septoria, leaf rust, root rot, monolithic burn, powdery mildew, scab, downy mildew, penicillary rot, rust, rhizoctonia, snow mold , dry and wet rot of tubers, tracheomycosis, late blight, phomosis, fusarium rot, cercospora, etc.

Fitosporin has no waiting period, so products treated with it can be consumed the next day

Fitosporin also prevents the development of various rots during storage of tubers and bulbs: white rot, gray rot, black dry rot, fruit rot, fusarium dry rot, etc.

Depending on the treated crop and disease, the effectiveness of Fitosporin is 65-95%. These are very good indicators, considering that the drug is low-toxic and can be safely used even in a house or apartment.

Topsin-M: reviews from those who have used the drug

Yulia, 50 years old, Novosibirsk: I used Topsin to treat my garden plants against gray rot for preventive purposes - as a result, it became much less than usual. This year I will also spray.

Nina, 44 years old, Tver I read on the Internet about this chemical preparation and its high effectiveness, but I have never used it in my garden, since I prefer to use folk remedies to combat diseases and pests. After all, the chemicals used can end up in the fruits, and with them on our table, which is very harmful to the human body.

Igor, 55 years old, Kostroma region I believe that modern means of combating diseases of cultivated plants have become safer for humans and sometimes diseases simply cannot be dealt with without them. So, I dealt with powdery mildew on apple trees in my garden only thanks to the Topsin-M fungicide. And now I keep it with me just in case, to use it against fungal diseases on garden and garden crops.

The drug Topsin-M effectively copes with most fungal diseases affecting garden and vegetable crops

. In addition to the fact that the product fights fungi, it effectively protects plants for a long time and can destroy some pests. But fungi may develop resistance to this fungicide, so no more than 3 treatments with Topsin-M should be carried out per season, and then replaced with fungicides containing other active substances.

“Simple” Topsin has not been produced for a long time - it turned out to be too harmful. Topsin M goes on sale in the form of a wettable powder SP and a suspension concentrate KS.

The preparative forms differ only in the content of the active ingredient (active substance, see below).

According to gardeners, the advantages of the product include:

  1. Wide range of pathogenic fungi affected.
  2. Fast-acting - pathogens are suppressed within 24 hours. Three temperatures above +25 degrees Celsius - for 4-6 hours.
  3. High efficiency: when used correctly, pathogens are destroyed by 100%.
  4. Long-term protective effect - at least 4 weeks at +20 degrees and more than 6 weeks at +25 degrees and above.
  5. Healing effect: helps plants recover faster from illness.
  6. Sufficient technological breadth (plasticity): Topsin is not critical to dosages, timing and external conditions of use.
  7. No phytotoxicity.
  8. In tank mixtures it is compatible with any pesticides, except highly alkaline mineral-based ones (Bordeaux mixture, lime preparations).
  9. Does not suppress yeast fungi, does not interfere with wine fermentation, does not spoil its taste and bouquet.
  10. Low cost of processing: price of 1 kg/1 l of the drug for 2022 approx. 2000 rubles, and units of grams/ml are required per hundred square meters.

At the same time, Topsin’s shortcomings require careful and careful handling:

  1. Dangerous, gives negative after-effects: degree of danger for humans is 2 (hazardous substance), for bees 3 (moderately dangerous), for fish and aquatic organisms 1 (very dangerous) or 2.
  2. Not suitable for regular use because causes pathogen resistance. With regular use of Topsin, a stable population of them is formed on the site already in the 2nd year. Which can spread to your neighbors (or come to you from them).
  3. Little or no effect against downy mildew pathogens.
  4. Among vegetable crops, it is only suitable for ground cucumbers, because was originally developed to protect grains and sugar beets, and the ability of Topsin DV to accumulate in juicy above-ground fruits of herbaceous plants was not taken into account.
  5. It is not very effective at temperatures below +15 degrees due to the sulfur content in the combustion agent.
  6. An antagonist of a number of beneficial pathogenic fungi used in biological products against pests, therefore it is not applicable in plant bioprotection systems.
  7. Not available in small packaging for private household plots, because in the Russian Federation it is certified only for large areas.
  8. Based on the results of long-term use of Topsin, its teratogenic activity was established.
