Red Fluffy Brush

Ghost

This tomato variety was created by Bulgarian breeders. These are indeterminate bushes that can grow up to 2 m in height. The fruits are most often round, but can also be oval or flat-round in shape. They have a light yellow color, sometimes there are pinkish spots on the tomatoes.

The skin of the fruit has slight pubescence. Usually their weight is about 100 g. The pulp is tender and sweet.

The variety shows the highest yield when planted in protected ground. In particular, this applies to the central and northern regions of Russia. In southern latitudes it can be cultivated in open ground.

Tomatoes of this variety need to be pinched. They are formed into two stems and tied to a trellis.

The fruits are well stored and can withstand long-term transportation. Suitable for fresh consumption and canning.

Description and characteristics

Tomato bushes with the unusual name Fluffy red or pink are compact. The height in the greenhouse is up to 90 cm, in the garden 70 cm. The stem is strong with moderate foliage, the shoots are elastic and form well. The entire bush is covered with villi.

Leaf blade up to 25 cm, width about 20 cm. Combined inflorescences: simple and semi-complex. The first cluster, with up to 7 fruits, appears above the 7th or 9th leaf. The next after 2 - 3 sheets. The length of the fruit branch is about 17 cm.

The fruits themselves are round in shape, elastic, also with fluff, like an apricot or peach. Unripe tomatoes are pale green in color. Ripe fruits are pink or bright red, depending on the specific variety.

For reference! When eaten, the villi do not cause discomfort and do not affect the taste.

From the characteristics of the fruit it follows that inside there are five well-filled chambers with a small number of seeds. The pulp is fleshy, juicy, beautiful, aromatic, pink in color. The taste is sweet with a sour note.

Description

The plant is determinate, low, compact. The height of the bush in protected ground reaches 80 - 90 cm, in open ground it is slightly lower - 60 - 70 cm. The stem and shoots are powerful. Shoot formation is good, foliage is moderate. The stem, shoots, inflorescences, leaves are covered with thick and soft pubescence. The leaves are medium-sized, green, of the usual type, with a slightly corrugated surface. The length of the tomato leaf plate is about 25 cm, the width is about 20 cm. The inflorescences are simple and semi-complex. The first fruit cluster is formed above the 7th - 9th leaf, the next ones appear at intervals of 2 - 3 leaves. The clusters are productive, full, and about 5 - 7 or more ovaries are formed in each. The ripening fruit cluster of this variety looks very beautiful; its length can be 17 cm.

The fruits of Pink Fluffy are smooth, thick-walled, dense, round in shape. An unripe tomato is light green, without a spot at the stalk. When ripe, it takes on a rich pink color. The skin has the most delicate, peachy pubescence of a silvery hue, which somewhat changes the color perception of the tomato. Even from a short distance, the fruits resemble the color of a winter dawn. By the way, the pubescence during fruit consumption does not cause any unpleasant sensations, since it is not felt at all. The tomato has five chambers, the chambers are well filled, small in size, and there are few seeds. The pulp is a beautiful pink color, very fleshy, tender, juicy, pleasant consistency, aromatic. The taste is excellent, moderately sweet, with a slight sourness. Fruit weight is 120 - 150 grams.

Advantages and disadvantages of the Fluffy variety

Positive qualities are represented by an extensive list:

  • early ripening variety;
  • tomatoes are intended for growing in a greenhouse and outdoors;
  • grows in any region of Russia;
  • low growing plant;
  • yield 4 kg per bush;
  • resistant to fungal, viral infections and pests;
  • hardy in adverse weather;
  • easy to care for;
  • shelf life after collection up to 1 month;
  • Suitable for fresh consumption and canning.

The disadvantages of these hybrids also require attention:

  • taste is not for everyone;
  • regular feeding is required;
  • high price of seedlings due to the impossibility of collecting seeds independently.

Characteristics of the variety

  • The Pink Fluffy hybrid will delight you with an early harvest. From the moment of the appearance of full shoots until the fruits begin to ripen, 95 - 100 days pass;
  • tomatoes are capable of showing excellent results both in the open air and in the greenhouse. Thanks to this versatility, the plant can be cultivated in any region of Russia;
  • the yield, given the low growth and compactness of the plant, is beyond praise - 18 - 20 kg per 1 square meter. Up to 4 kg is removed from one bush;
  • immunity is high. The variety is resistant to many viral and fungal diseases characteristic of the crop. Including tobacco mosaic virus, bacteriosis, Alternaria, Fusarium. The variety is also tolerant to late blight;
  • thanks to the dense pubescence, the tomato is avoided by common pests - aphids, whiteflies, mites;
  • Based on the results of a trial cultivation of Pink Fluffy, it can be noted that tomatoes are resistant to cracking;
  • there is no mention of transportability yet, but judging by the density of the fruits, it should be good;
  • The method of consumption, like all early tomatoes, is primarily salad. But the strong skin and size of the fruit may well make our hero suitable for whole-fruit canning. And the consistency of the pulp is suitable for the production of tomato products of excellent quality.

Features of agricultural technology

To make the gardener happy with the harvest, you need to know the features of growing and caring for tomatoes.

Landing

The tomato, with the unusual name Fluffy Pink, is planted as seedlings in the garden and in the greenhouse. It is grown from seeds at home.

Variety seeds

The seed is placed in fed and pre-prepared soil in mid-March. The container with seeds is covered with thick film or cellophane. Wait until the seeds germinate.

Important! The temperature under the film should be no less than +25..+27 degrees, otherwise the seedlings will not sprout.

When three leaves appear, the seedlings are planted in separate containers.

About two months after sowing, the seedlings are ready for planting in open spaces. A week before this, young tomato bushes are hardened off.

Agricultural technology

Very little is still known about the features of the agricultural technology of Pink Fluffy. The planting density recommended by the originators of the variety is 4 tomatoes per 1 square meter. Despite its short growth, the bush needs to be tied up, otherwise, when the brushes begin to ripen, even the strongest stem will not withstand the load. To obtain a good harvest, the crop is formed into 4 stems. In care, you need to adhere to generally accepted rules, especially in a greenhouse, where it is important to maintain normal humidity. In general, agricultural technology is simple, and a small bush is easy to care for.

The Fluffy Pink hybrid has already proven itself to be excellent during trial cultivation. The unusual, one might even say decorative appearance of a bush with filled fruit clusters immediately puts you in a good mood. The main advantages of the new product are an excellent harvest and excellent immunity, which makes caring for the plant much easier and makes it possible to grow an environmentally friendly product. The taste of the early tomato did not disappoint either. And it’s not worth talking about the appearance - this is a highly marketable, very beautiful tomato. No deficiencies were identified during cultivation. One disadvantage of the variety is the inability to collect the seeds yourself. And seed material is not cheap.

Disease and pest control

Determinate hybrids have a big advantage - they are resistant to diseases and pests. They are not eaten by sucking insects, since they cannot get to the fruit due to their pubescence. They are resistant to most viruses and infections. However, there is no complete guarantee that tomatoes will not “get sick.” High immunity also will not protect vegetables from:

  • lack of nitrogen - when the leaves acquire a yellowish tint with green streaks;
  • lack of calcium - leaves become reddish or purple;
  • lack of magnesium, etc.

Scheherazade

The medium-ripening variety was bred in Russia and is distinguished by ornamental bushes and tomatoes that resemble peaches. Recommended for cultivation in open and protected ground. Scheherazade is endowed with high immunity to diseases and pests. It is rarely affected by late blight, crown and root rot. Does not tolerate high temperatures, but is quite resistant to cold snaps.

The plant is a powerful bush of determinate type, up to 1 m high. Its shoots and large green-gray foliage are heavily pubescent.

The fruits of Scheherazade are round, cylindrical, and have an exotic appearance due to their pubescence. Although their color is orange with a reddish tint, their hairs make them appear pink. The weight of each is 200-300 g. The pulp is juicy, tender, sweetish in taste, with a rich tomato aroma. The yield of the variety is low. Only 2 kg of fruits are harvested from one bush.

Harvesting

Almost all fruits will have time to ripen within 90 - 100 days. Like regular tomatoes, fluffy tomatoes do not all ripen at once.

The fruits should be picked when they turn red or pink (depending on the variety). To the touch at this moment they are hard, elastic, but not soft. Juicy and meaty inside. The cells must be filled.

Green tomatoes remain on the bunch to ripen. If they didn’t have time to ripen in time, and it’s cold outside, they can be put in a box and left to ripen at home. According to the description of the Fluffy tomato, the shelf life of the fruit is about a month. Due to their elasticity they are highly transportable.

The description of the Fluffy tomato says that it is a hybrid. The variety is notable for the fact that there is fluff on the fruits, leaves and stems, which gives the tomatoes a velvety feel. The culture has two varieties: Fluffy Red and Pink tomatoes. The yield is high, up to 20 kg per square meter. Tomatoes are not picky about care and are resistant to diseases and weather variability. The main thing is to control the quality and quantity of fertilizing.

Important Feature

Look, the photographs show that all parts of the plants have strong pubescence. This year we conducted special tests of new hybrids - we sowed these original “fluffy” tomatoes. The effect was unexpected and very interesting. The most important thing is that these hybrids turned out to be “unpalatable” to aphids, whiteflies and mites, that is, to all sucking insects that usually significantly spoil our harvests. All parts of the plants have pubescence. Surprisingly, it is a fact: the hybrids 'Fluffy pink F1' and 'Fuzzy red F1' did not! We observed and determined that the pubescence on the stems and leaves made it very difficult for insects to penetrate the delicate plant tissues. It has become absolutely impossible to suck out the delicious juices of tomatoes! We didn’t have to “give” part of the harvest to pests; we got it all. And the delicate fluff on the fruits gave them an amazing charm. Both benefit and beauty!

Fluffy blue wine

Mid-season, tall tomatoes that amaze with their unusual appearance. They are endowed with silvery foliage and heavily pubescent fruits.

Tomato varieties are usually dark red in color with purple shoulders. The weight of the fruit is on average 80-120 g. The pulp has a fruity flavor, juicy, sweet and sour, reminiscent of the taste of famous Asian tomatoes.

Fluffy blue wine is a unique exotic variety that can delight even the most experienced vegetable grower. It is suitable for growing both in a greenhouse and in outdoor beds. It has high productivity. Primarily ideal for preparing salads, but also suitable for canning.
