Last year I planted a very beautiful OZARK SUNSET or Sunset tomato.
This tall tomato captivated me not only with its beauty, but also with its pleasant, sweet taste.
I also liked the tomato for its late blight resistance and long-term fruiting. (It would bear fruit before the New Year, but we had to return to the city.) We’ll be leaving the dacha soon, we’ll have to take them home... September 20 under the roof of the greenhouse
I planted it for seedlings on March 8, and planted it in the greenhouse on May 1. When planting, I added long-acting AVA fertilizer, a handful of bone meal and a handful of ash to the hole. Sprayed with phytosporin several times.
I usually don’t feed my tomatoes anything else, but someone was digging hard in the greenhouse, and when watering, the soil collapsed. So I filled the resulting holes with humus, ash and sand, and mulched with mown grass. Ozark Sunset 2022 OZARK SUNSET are very elegant tomatoes: when unripe they are first green with stripes, then blue, and when ripe they are orange-striped. From green to orange
They grew in my greenhouse, tall, very productive. Tomatoes average 130 g, but the first ones were larger (max 250 g), with an average of 7-9 fruits per cluster.
Ozark Sunset in Section It's the end of September. I collect the ripe ones, as before, in a box, the blue ones hang, ripen... There is a box with garlic in the garden bed, a little further with onions.
With garlic
I dry garlic and onions in a greenhouse, because... I read that it helps against late blight. And all summer and autumn, when I peel onions and garlic, I throw the peelings into the beds. I was writing about my Sunsets and I remembered: The sunset tiptoed quietly, suddenly, And a Miracle unexpectedly happened:
Pink Siberian tiger
Pink Siberian Tiger will not leave anyone indifferent . You just can’t take your eyes off its fruits! “Tiger cubs” (150-300 g) are distinguished by a purple-pink pearlescent color, anthocyanin shoulders, violet-blue, with purple stripes reminiscent of the color of a tiger. The fruits are tasty, sweet, with a fruity aroma, the flesh is rich red. Tomatoes ripened in bright sun have a more saturated color. The variety is productive and does not require special care.
Reviews about this variety of tomatoes
Alexander Shumilov, Kemerovo, 52 years old This variety can be grown in open ground, although the packet of seeds says that this is a greenhouse. My neighbors grow them on a glassed-in balcony in partial shade. Grown under film. The yield really surprised me. Tomatoes are not pinched, pinched or left in one stem. The plants are tall, powerful, the bush is almost spherical. The leaves are large with a strong waxy coating. They are not afraid of late blight. This year the tomatoes were completely green, with no signs of yellowing.

Description and characteristics of the Purple Sunrise tomato, reviews, photos
The original name of the variety is Purple Sunrise.
Mid-season, tall, productive tomato variety with fruits of bright and rare colors. In the middle zone, it is recommended to grow it in a greenhouse.
Plants are 120-150 cm high. The fruits are drooping, pink, multi-chambered, with dense pulp, fleshy and sweet, weighing up to 200 g; on the lower clusters, large specimens reach 300 g. Vegetables remain fresh for a long time. The variety is recommended for fresh consumption and processing. Features of cultivation The plant is heat-loving, prefers sunny areas with fertile, light soil. Seedlings are planted from mid-May to the end of June. Watering is moderate, during the fruiting period – abundant.
The plant is of indeterminate type (unlimited growth), strong, up to 1.8 meters high at the end of the season. Requires tying to the support and pinning. The best results were obtained when forming a bush with 1 or 2 trunks. This is a long-bearing variety.
Fruiting begins in July and continues until frost. Tomatoes of this variety are very tasty, fleshy, juicy, weighing 100-120 g. When ripe, they become darker - brown. At this time, the tomatoes are still very tender and juicy, but when they begin to ripen, they become the same as those of the ox heart variety, only, of course, not as strong. The Oxheart variety was bred from F1 Sabina, and Sabina was taken from F1 Hercules.
Features of planting and care
One of the main and important features of Sunrise f1 tomatoes is increased resistance to diseases and mechanical damage. These qualities provide an excellent opportunity to facilitate the processes of growing and caring for crops.
It is worth noting that tomato bushes that have stopped growing do not need special care. The main rule in successfully growing the Sunrise f1 variety is to pay attention to the choice of seed and properly care for the seedlings.
How to prepare seeds
Preparing Sunrise f1 tomato seeds for planting is carried out in several stages:
- Warming up. Sunrise f1 tomato grains are well heated in the oven or oven for about 10 hours to a temperature of 45 degrees.
- Soak. The seed is disinfected by soaking in salt water. After half an hour of treatment, the seeds are washed with water and dried.
- Second disinfection in potassium permanganate. The seeds are kept in potassium permanganate for no more than 15-20 minutes.
- Soaking the seed in a pre-purchased growth stimulator.
If each stage of seed preparation is carried out correctly, you can rid the plant of future pests and diseases, as well as accelerate the growth of the crop.
It is worth taking into account that it is recommended to plant seeds in the soil two months before the date of planting the seedlings in a greenhouse or under the open sky.
Planting seeds
By following the correct algorithm for planting tomato seed of the Sunrise f1 variety, you can get a bountiful harvest.
Seed planting process:
- Place a small layer of expanded clay in specialized containers with holes for drainage.
- Pour the soil mixture (turf soil, sawdust, peat) preheated in the oven or over a fire into the box and tamp it down well.
- Make small depressions up to 1.5 cm in the ground. Pour grains into the holes, sprinkled with a small layer of soil.
- After planting the seeds, spray.
- Cover containers with planted grains with cling film or other transparent material. Leave in a warm place until shoots appear.
- As soon as the seeds hatch, remove the film from the box and place it in a well-lit place - a windowsill.
- After the first pair of leaves appear, the seedlings must be planted in other containers. The diameter of one pot is at least 10 cm.
- You can transplant seedlings to a permanent place in late May - early June. If the Sunrise f1 tomato is planned to be grown in greenhouse conditions, then planting can be done much earlier - at the end of April.
- When planting in the soil, seedlings are placed quite distantly. The minimum distance between bushes should be 50 cm.
- At the first stages of bush growth, unadapted tomatoes should be covered with cling film. As soon as the tomatoes take root, the shelter can be removed.
Important! Do not forget about regular fertilizing with mineral and organic fertilizers.
During the growth period, the crop needs at least two, or even three useful supplements.

Characteristics of the variety
When selecting varieties and hybrids of vegetable crops for growing on your plot, you need to proceed from the growing conditions (garden beds or greenhouse conditions), from your own requirements for yield and fruit shape, as well as from the conditions in which the crop will be grown.
Therefore, it should be noted that thanks to its positive characteristics, the Sunrise tomato can be grown in any Russian region.
Advantages and disadvantages of the variety
The main positive qualities of the Sunrise tomato include:
- high yield of the hybrid - up to 8-9 kg from each square of area;
- early fruit ripening;
- like most tomato varieties of Dutch selection, the Sunrise tomato has good resistance to most diseases characteristic of other tomato varieties;
- adult plants are compact in size;
- the yield of this tomato is equally high when grown in garden beds and in greenhouse conditions;
- the pulp is quite fleshy, it contains a large amount of dry substances;
- good appearance of ripe tomatoes that can easily withstand transportation over any distance;
- seeds have excellent germination rate - more than 98%;
- this variety can be grown year-round in heated greenhouses, as it tolerates a lack of lighting, high indoor humidity, and the lack of normal ventilation.
Among the disadvantages of tomato, vegetable growers note:
- not too bright taste and aroma of ripe fruits;
- the plants are determinant, so they cannot produce high yields in greenhouse conditions;
- Since the Sunrise tomato is a hybrid, seeds cannot be collected from its fruits, so they have to be regularly purchased in specialized stores.
Sunrise tomato yield
With good care, you can harvest up to 5 kg of ripe fruit from each Sunrise F1 tomato bush. Since up to 4 bushes of such a vegetable plant are planted on each square of area, the total yield from such an area can be up to 17-19 kg of tomatoes.
Area of application of fruits
The harvested crop can be used to prepare a variety of salads and snacks, as well as make preparations for the winter: ketchup, tomato paste, and lecho.
Growing regions
Since the Sunrise F1 tomato is an early ripening variety, it can be grown in greenhouse conditions in all Russian regions. And in the south of the country this hybrid is grown in garden beds.
Resistance to diseases and pests
The Sunrise F1 tomato has a high genetic level of resistance to most diseases that are characteristic of other tomato varieties and hybrids. Therefore, vegetable growers do not have to waste time fighting diseases that could affect the bushes of this vegetable crop.
Features of cultivation
Since the Sunrise hybrid is grown with equal success in open ground and in protected ground, the following planting methods are practiced: sowing seeds and planting seedlings.
Seed preparation is carried out in the usual way. Sowing seeds for seedlings is carried out in March. Seeds germinate at a temperature of 25°C. In the phase of 2 true leaves, the seedlings dive. Hardened seedlings are planted in protected or open ground at the age of 35–45 days.
The seedling method is most suitable for cool regions. But in areas where spring comes early and the soil quickly warms up to the 12–14°C required for planting, this method also enjoys well-deserved respect. Thanks to grown seedlings, gardeners have the opportunity to get a harvest earlier than by sowing a variety with seeds.
The seedling method of growing Sunrise tomatoes is suitable for any region
Since the Sunrise tomato has fairly compact bushes, the distance between seedlings in the garden bed can be left up to 40 cm. Row spacing also does not differ in width - 50 cm is quite enough.
Such a dense planting scheme is very helpful for owners of small plots, allowing them to plant more plants per 1 m².
The seed method, although not as successful as the seedling method, is also suitable for growing this variety. It is used only in the southern regions. The sowing time for seed material falls at the end of April - beginning of May. To create comfortable conditions for seeds to germinate, a shelter is installed above the bed.
Seeds are sown thickly on the garden bed so that later they can be thinned, leaving the strongest seedlings for further cultivation.
Diseases and pests
The tomato hybrid Sunrise F1 is not affected by most of the diseases characteristic of other plants from the nightshade family, in particular, gray spot, verticillium wilt or stem cancer.
Disease and pest control
Since this vegetable plant practically does not get sick, vegetable growers do not have to fight pathogenic microorganisms.
Preventative treatment
Although this tomato is highly resistant to diseases, after transplanting the seedlings of this vegetable plant to a permanent place, it is worth treating it with special means in order to prevent fungal diseases and viral diseases.
Also, for preventive purposes, you should not forget about regular weeding and loosening the soil, as well as adding a layer of mulch to the tomato beds.
