When to plant beets in 2022?
Most often, beets are grown using seeds, which, in dry or sprouted form, are immediately placed in open ground. Depending on the variety, the first harvest can be obtained 80-145 days after the first shoots appear. Early-ripening varieties ripen in 80-110 days, mid-ripening ones - 110-130, and late-ripening ones - 130-145 days.
Work begins in mid-spring, when warm weather sets in and the risk of return frosts disappears. The air temperature should be +10...+12C, and the ground temperature should be about +8C. The start of planting work will be different for each region. For example, in the south you can plant seeds in the ground as early as late March - early April. In the middle zone, the gardening season begins in late April - early May. And in Siberia and the Urals - at the end of May - beginning of June. Any planting work should not be carried out during the full moon and new moon. These days are best left for routine work, such as cleaning up plant debris and fighting parasites.
