Landing

The variety is grown in seedlings with seeds planted 60-70 days before transferring to the greenhouse. Before sowing, it is recommended to treat with a solution of potassium permanganate or a special fungicide to protect against bacteria and fungi. The potassium permanganate solution should be no stronger than 1%. Then you can treat the seeds with a stimulant.

The soil should be rich in nutrients and loose. After sowing, the containers are placed in a warm place for germination. After germination, transfer to the windowsill. In the phase of 2-3 leaves, picking is carried out.

The layout in the greenhouse is 40 by 60 cm.

Sweet pepper varieties for the Moscow region and the Urals, their cultivation

Coming from Central America, sweet peppers, like tomatoes and eggplants, belong to the nightshade family of crops, and in Russian weather conditions they do not grow naturally. Therefore, it is propagated by seedlings, and only in the summer is it planted in open ground, preferably in a greenhouse. Breeders have created varieties of sweet pepper that are unpretentious to temperature changes and resistant to temperature drops, with a wide variety of fruit colors, from yellow to dark red and even purple.

The shape is also varied: small and round, large cone-shaped, pyramidal, tomato-like, and others. Resistant to cool temperatures, resistant to diseases, and not requiring difficult-to-make shelters, pepper produces excellent harvests even in Siberia.

Growing sweet peppers

Seeds are planted for seedlings in February or the first week of March. Regardless of the type of sweet pepper, the seeds take quite a long time to germinate, from 15 to 20 days. In order to speed up germination, use aloe juice, diluting it with water 1:1, soaking the seeds in it for a day or two. The seedlings do not pick (they are not transplanted with the central root being cut off, like tomatoes).

Seedlings are planted in open ground when the soil has warmed up and the temperature is at least 25 or 20 degrees (14...17 at night). In the south, where it is higher, they need to be watered regularly, otherwise the plants will shed their ovaries and flowers.

Heat of 40 degrees or higher causes roots to die and plants to wither. All varieties of sweet pepper prefer sunny areas with good soil, fertile and rich in nitrogen. In the shade they stretch out, the ovary is poorly formed and the fruits ripen.

Regular care: weed, water and loosen, feed on time (during watering). The best feeding is bird droppings, which need to be diluted with water quite strongly: no more than a glass of droppings per bucket of water. It is good to add humus to the soil before planting.

Sweet pepper varieties: early ripening

Claudio F1 (72-85 days), Seville (95 days), Orange Miracle (100-110 days), Montero, Ilya Muromets (125 days), Ivanhoe (105-110 days).

Yellow Bull is a virus-resistant variety; the fruits are very large, juicy and fleshy, and produces a yield of up to 7 kg per m2. The Red Bull variety has the same characteristics.

Drought-resistant plants: Veronica, Anastasia, Lyudmila, Bogdan and Red Giant. Productive varieties: Orange Giant, Kolobok, Bogatyr, Topboy and Topgirl, Atlant and Antey.

Sweet pepper varieties for the Urals

Mid-season: Aries F1, Alyosha Popovich, Agapovsky, Freckle, Zorka, Player, Knight, Sonata F1 and others.

Sweet pepper varieties for the Moscow region

Belozerka is an early variety, also high-yielding and characterized by the simultaneous ripening of a large number of fruits. Plants of medium ripeness - Bulgarian 79, the fruits are red in color and have a pyramidal shape.

Early ripening - Winnie the Pooh and Gogoshary (local). The first variety is a low plant that produces cone-shaped, sweet, thick-walled fruits. Gogoshary is a folk variety. Medium-sized fruits, similar to tomatoes, weighing about 100 grams, dark green in color. Of the early ripening varieties, Cardinal F1, Denis F1, Indalo F1, Zdorovye, Kerala F1, Edino F1 are also popular. Mid-season varieties include Yolo-Miracle, Novo-Gogoshary, Californian Miracle, and Victoria.
