Pepper-tree Octopus New Year's F1: reviews on growing a spicy variety, photo of Sedek seeds, how to form a bush

The Sprut New Year pepper variety has been grown since 2015. It is included in the register of the State Variety Commission of the Russian Federation as a sweet pepper with a spicy taste. Its bush is distinguished by its branching, which is why capsicum is called pepper-tree. This is how it is defined by the originator, the agro.

Hybrid variety, recommended for all regions. It is grown under film, in open beds, and at home. What are the characteristics of pepper? What kind of care does it require?

What kind of pepper is this

Pepper-tree Octopus New Year's F1 is so named because it is capable of entwining any support during the process of growth, like a sea mollusk.

Characteristics and description of the hybrid

The hybrid is medium-late, can grow to the size of a tree: within six months, with proper care, it reaches a height of 3 to 5 m. Pepper ripens within 120-130 days from the moment the first shoots appear.

The height of the plant requires that it have something to rest on: this can be a decorative trellis or other support. She will not allow the giant to break under the weight of its own fruits and branches.

Distinctive features

Pepper tree is the result of the work of Russian breeders. Crossing different varieties of peppers has made it possible to create a crop with an unusual appearance, while maintaining high yields. However, you will not be able to collect seeds to grow the plant yourself, since it is a hybrid. Seed material will have to be purchased each time.

Reference! The hybrid is grown at home, if there is enough space, or in the garden. In greenhouse conditions, pepper will give maximum growth and yield, and in open ground it will grow fully only in warm climates.

Fruit characteristics and yield

The hybrid produces fruits of an unusual shape: they look like bells. Their number is large: from one plant, with proper care, you can remove from 300 to 500 peppers. The fruits are small - about 25 g with a length of 3-4 cm.

The fruits change from green to bright red within a week. When unripe, peppers are sweet, and as they ripen, they acquire even more pungency and aroma along with their blush.

Reference! The more light the tree pepper has, the hotter the fruits will be.

The flesh of the peppers is dense, with medium pungency. The seeds inside the fruit are more pungent.

The fruits are widely used in cooking:

  • fresh - soups, meat dishes, salads, sauces;
  • marinating whole together with stalks;
  • use as a component of blanks;
  • freezing

New pepper varieties for the Moscow region for 2022

Growing peppers in the Moscow region is not a difficult task

. The most important thing is to choose the right variety or hybrid and care for it properly.

Preparation for cultivation

Before you start planting seedlings, you need to purchase seeds, prepare soil and containers.

Purchased seeds that do not need dressing are germinated. To do this, they are wrapped in a damp cloth, which is soaked in an aqueous solution of wood ash: for 1 liter of hot water, 2 tbsp. l. ash (the liquid is infused for a couple of days). Then the seeds are placed in a warm place.

Attention! The soaking procedure is optional, but recommended - this will help the seeds germinate faster.

Next, prepare the soil. There are two ways - buy a ready-made product or make the soil yourself.

To prepare it yourself, take 1 bucket of garden soil and mix it with humus (1 bucket), sand (1/3 bucket) and ash (0.5 l).

The prepared soil is disinfected:

  • keep in the oven for up to 40 minutes, setting the temperature to 80-90 °C;
  • pour boiling water over;
  • pour over a dark pink solution of potassium permanganate;
  • keep in a steam bath for about 40 minutes.

Important! After disinfection, the soil is given 2 weeks to become populated with beneficial microorganisms.

Then the soil is placed in containers (pots, plastic glasses) and moistened before planting the seeds.

How to grow seedlings

Proper planting of seeds and proper care for them is the key to the formation of a strong, hardy plant.

Reference! Pepper does not tolerate transplantation well, so it is advisable to do without picking so as not to injure the delicate root system of the plant.

Planting pepper

The hybrid is planted from late February to early March . The seeds are placed in the holes to a depth of no more than 1 cm, covering them with earth. The container with planted seeds is covered with film or glass. In this form, future peppers are kept at a temperature of 25 to 30 ° C until shoots appear. Seedlings require periodic watering and fertilizing.

If the peppers were planted in the same container, make a pick - but only after the seedlings have formed a pair of true leaves.

2 weeks before planting in the soil, seedlings begin to harden. First, a window is opened in the room, and then the seedlings are taken out into the air for 40 minutes to 6-8 hours towards the end of the period.

Important! During “hardening”, seedlings must be protected from direct exposure to the sun.

Before planting the peppers, they are left outside overnight. If they are going to grow in a greenhouse, then they are transplanted in May. If in open ground, then the procedure is carried out in late May - early June.

When planting, holes are made in the ground at a distance of 40 cm from each other. Then fertilizers are added to them: 1 tbsp. l. wood ash, the same amount of superphosphate and humus. Hybrids are planted in such a “nutrient mixture” after watering them.

Further care

After the pepper is planted in the ground, it requires suitable care: heat, fertilizing, light. For a good harvest, the plant needs watering, as well as loosening and shaping the crown.

The hybrid requires regular watering with warm water: once every three days, right to the root. Chicken manure (2 times per season) and spraying wood ash (up to 4 times) are used as fertilizers for the future giant.

Important! The pepper tree should not be overfed with fertilizers containing nitrogen - the plant may stop bearing fruit.

After watering, the soil between the rows is loosened, doing this carefully so as not to damage the roots. To carry out the procedure less frequently and retain moisture, the soil is mulched: covered with humus, peat, straw.

A necessary component of care is tying the pepper tree to any support so that it does not fall under its own weight. Additionally, you need to form a crown, cutting off the stepsons and extra leaves before the first fork. If grown indoors, after the end of the period of growth and development, the plant is cut back by about a third.

Features of cultivation and possible difficulties

The hybrid has a number of features that should be taken into account:

  1. Photophilousness. If there is not enough light in the apartment, build artificial lighting. Otherwise, the green mass of the plant will noticeably decrease.
  2. Temperature requirements. The octopus prefers temperatures in the range from 20 to 25 °C.
  3. Mandatory fertilizing until fruit set. These include mineral and organic fertilizers, ash.
  4. Regular watering, especially if the air in the room where the pepper is grown is dry. In hot weather, water with warm, settled water every day; in winter, this is done less often. After watering, lightly loosen the soil.
  5. Spray the plant periodically. This is done from a distance of 15 cm.
  6. After living in a room for 2 years, it is advisable to transplant the pepper tree into the ground .

Recommendations for growing indoors

Hot peppers are often cultivated on window sills, loggias, and closed balconies.

In order for the plant to produce a harvest, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  1. Since pepper is a light-loving plant, it needs additional artificial lighting. Otherwise, the leaves will fall off.
  2. The room should be maintained at a favorable temperature for growing the plant - +20...+25°C.
  3. The tree needs to be fed regularly. Liquid mineral fertilizers, organic matter (aqueous solutions of mullein, chicken droppings), and wood ash are suitable. They are introduced during the growing season before the fruiting phase begins.
  4. In the spring, when the plant requires nitrogen, you can plant mustard seeds in the pot. After the sprouts appear, dig them up - they will saturate the soil with the necessary elements.
  5. If the apartment is too warm, you need to water the pepper daily. In winter, watering is reduced.
  6. Moisten the plant with warm, settled water. Watering with cold water leads to rotting of the roots.
  7. Watering should be accompanied by light loosening to prevent the formation of a hard crust on the soil surface.
  8. Like many indoor plants, the pepper tree needs spraying. This is done using a spray bottle, placing it at a distance of 15 cm from the pepper.
  9. In spring and summer, peppers can be taken out in a container into fresh air, where they can grow until autumn and the onset of cold weather.
  10. The plant can be grown indoors for a couple of years, and then it is better to plant it in open ground or a greenhouse.

Did you know? Hot peppers are used to produce tear gas. The substance capsaicin it contains is also used to coat the bottom of ships to protect against shellfish.

Pepper-tree Octopus New Year attracts attention not only with its hot peppercorns, but also with its decorative properties - a plant with an unusual shape of bright fruits against the background of green foliage will decorate any home in the autumn and winter. It can also be planted in the front garden, complementing the flower arrangement.

Typical diseases and pests

Octopus New Year F1 is resistant to diseases. However, if you make mistakes in care, pests can destroy the crop.

Aphids are among the most dangerous pests. The insect lives on the bottom of the leaves, sucking the juices from the pepper and significantly slowing down its growth and development.

To cope with aphids, seedlings are sprayed with a mixture of soap solution, a decoction of tobacco smoke and ground black pepper. The last component is brewed at the rate of 1 tbsp. l. per 1 liter of water, boiled for 10 minutes. If the traditional method does not help, use chemicals - for example, the Strela insecticide.

Another pest of the pepper tree is the spider mite, which likes to settle on the underside of the leaves. This arachnid sucks the life force out of the plant, leading to its death. “Nitrophen” helps in the fight against ticks, as well as acaricides:

  • “Karbofos” is time-tested and acts almost instantly;
  • Actellik is effective and easy to use, but dangerous for bees;
  • “Fufanon” is modern and non-toxic if used in the proportion specified in the instructions.

The Black Prince is an apple for the royal table

The Black Prince apple tree has gained great popularity in the market. This is a tree with soft pink flowers and juicy, bright red fruits. But this variety requires special care, watering and fertilizer.

Characteristics of the apple tree

Recently, gardeners have simply fallen in love with the Red John Prince apple tree variety, which has the second name Black Prince. It owes its origin to the Jonagold variety.

Belgium is considered its homeland. At the first tasting of the fruit, it became clear that the variety would win the hearts of many people.

One of the features is its triple set of chromosomes. He inherited this characteristic trait from his parent. Originality is manifested in the fact that the apple tree bears fruit beautifully every year, and its fruits contain many useful substances.

Gardeners are also attracted by the appearance of apples. They are all slightly conical in shape, bright purple in color, sometimes reaching a red-black hue, for which the variety got its name. The taste of apples is so pleasant that they can be used in cooking, as well as for making compotes and salads. Many apple lovers prefer to eat this variety fresh.

The variety tolerates transportation well over long distances and can be stored for quite a long time.

Useful qualities of the Black Prince

The Black Prince is a storehouse of vitamins and minerals. The fruits contain a large amount of antioxidants. They are also rich in calcium, magnesium, iron and phosphorus. With regular consumption of apples of this variety, the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract and the digestive system as a whole is normalized.

ADVICE. Apples of this variety are recommended by nutritionists to combat excess weight due to the fact that they contain a lot of carbohydrates. Nutritionists note that one hundred grams of apples contain only 42 kcal. Therefore, apples of this variety are often included in the diet of people on a dietary diet.

Features of growth and development of the variety

Black Prince is considered an autumn mid-early variety, which is characterized by increased winter hardiness. The white flowers of these trees have a delicate pink tint, which is why the variety looks noble and beautiful.

Apple tree seedlings bear fruit within three years. After five years, the apple tree will begin to bear fruit fully and abundantly. Apples can be picked already in the third ten days of September, but consumer maturity occurs in early November. There is no need to rush into harvesting, as you may lose the taste of the apples.

When giving preference to the Black Prince, you should take into account that this variety is not self-pollinating. For abundant fruiting, it is necessary to surround it with apple trees of a different type. It would be better if it were Braeburn or Elstar. It is recommended to plant them no further than 50 m from the Black Prince. Productivity directly depends on the quality of pollination.

Features of care

Like any plant, an apple tree of this variety requires special attention. If you follow a number of simple recommendations, the quantity and quality of the apple harvest will please gardeners for a long time:

Plant care activities begin immediately after planting. To do this, properly prepare the hole and hill. You also need to remember about the distance of apple trees from each other - it should not be less than 4 meters; It is necessary to regularly water and protect against garden pests in the first year.

The important thing is that with a lack of moisture, the apples become small; The next year after planting, you need to form crowns and trim shoots; It is recommended to weed and loosen the soil under the tree; If necessary, mineral and organic fertilizers are applied, and trees are also treated against pests twice a season; It is recommended to hang bird feeders on trees - this is one of the pest control measures; Tree branches should be thinned annually and dry and weak ones should be removed.

In the absence of measures to care for apple trees, they may die.

Advice. You can now buy apple tree seedlings online. That is why it is easy for gardeners to acquire such a useful fruit. When purchasing an apple tree, you need to trust trusted suppliers to avoid purchasing weak and defective plants.

Proper care and storage of the fruits of this variety will provide gardeners with apples until February.

Features of agricultural technology

Like other tall varieties, this pepper is created for growing in a greenhouse and is positioned as unpretentious. However, gardeners get a good harvest only if they follow the rules of agricultural technology.

Before sowing, the seeds are treated with an antiseptic and a growth stimulant. Sprout in damp cloth. 2-3 pcs. distributed into separate pots. Half a month before transplanting into the greenhouse, the peppers begin to harden. 4 plants are placed per 1 m2.

Before fruiting begins, plantings are watered every 6 days. After the fruits appear, the procedure is increased to 1 time every 3 days. At the same time, they monitor the condition of the soil - it should always be loose.

Attention! Pepper does not like temperature changes. A constant microclimate should be maintained in the greenhouse.

Although the manufacturer indicates that the hybrid is resistant to lack of light, pepper requires 12 hours of lighting. To extend the day, special lamps are used. A tall bush must be formed, leaving 2-3 shoots. New branches are pinched. All weak stems are removed.

Tomato tree growing technology

Today, vegetable growers and gardeners practice several options for cultivating the Octopus F1 hybrid in the climatic conditions of our country, as well as in Ukraine and Moldova.

Obtaining and transplanting seedlings

In order to obtain high-quality and healthy seedlings that can bring a bountiful harvest, you should adhere to the following rules for growing seedling material:

  • sowing of seeds is carried out in the last ten days of January or early February;
  • for crops, soil substrate enriched with complex fertilizers should be used;
  • in winter, it is mandatory to provide seedlings and grown seedlings with additional lighting;
  • When picking and replanting plants to a permanent place, you should use the method of pinching the main root, which will stimulate the formation of additional roots and increase the plant’s feeding area.

Planting of seedlings should be carried out when the plants have about seven leaves, and the height is at least 15 cm and no more than 30 cm. Tomato bushes in a greenhouse or greenhouse must be planted at a considerable distance. The optimal gap is 1.0-1.5 m. The tomato miracle tree can reach a height of 4 m, which requires the use of reliable supports to which the stem is tied as the plant grows.

Seasonal or amateur cultivation

Under amateur cultivation conditions, the seasonal yield of the Sprut variety is about 6-7 kg of ripe and juicy tomatoes per bush. When grown seasonally, tomato bushes of this hybrid practically do not stand out against the background of other varieties and hybrid forms.

Special agricultural technology for hydroponics

The process of growing a tomato miracle tree lasts one and a half years or more. Climatic and weather conditions in a significant part of our country suggest obtaining productivity only by cultivating the hybrid form in year-round, heated and illuminated greenhouse structures.

In addition, the efficiency of cultivation fully depends on compliance with the following requirements for cultivating such a vegetable crop:

the nutrient solution is a mixture of ammonium nitrate, potassium nitrate, simple superphosphate, magnesium sulfate, iron citrate, boric acid, manganese sulfate, zinc sulfate and copper sulfate dissolved in water; the temperature of the nutrient solution should vary from +18 to +22 ° C, and in the summer a slight increase in temperature to + 25 ° C is allowed; the air temperature in the greenhouse should be at night at 17-19°C, and during the daytime the temperature can range from 20 to 25°C; from December to mid-February it is mandatory to use additional lighting for tomato bushes; During the first 7-8 months, attention should be paid to the formation of the plant, completely depriving it of the fruiting process.

Advantages and disadvantages

Octopus New Year's F1 has a number of advantages that make it especially attractive to gardeners:

  • attractive appearance - bright, numerous fruits;
  • variability of landing sites - indoors, open and closed ground;
  • resistance to most diseases and pests.

There are also disadvantages:

  • the inability to grow seeds yourself, since it is a hybrid;
  • the need to tie up plants;
  • an acute reaction to insufficient lighting in the room - a decrease in yield and decorativeness.

Feeding tall peppers

The review presents a wide variety of varieties and hybrids, the yield of almost all of them is quite high. But we must remember that powerful, tall peppers require appropriate nutrition. Therefore, when choosing them for cultivation, you should not forget about timely fertilizing.

The usual feeding schedule for such “giants” is approximately once every two weeks, but the condition of the plants themselves must be taken into account. It is advisable to alternate organic and mineral fertilizers; it is very convenient to use ready-made mixtures, which are offered in variety in specialized stores.

During the seedling period, peppers are fed twice. If diving is planned, then both feedings are carried out after transplantation, approximately 10-14 days later. What to use:

  • humates (diluted and watered according to instructions);
  • urea

Microfertilizers such as Ideal and Aquadon are well suited for seedlings.

It is very important to properly prepare the soil for planting peppers; adding fresh manure is strictly prohibited. In the fall, rotted mullein is added, in the spring - superphosphate and ash.

The first feeding after transplantation is carried out approximately 14-15 days later, organic matter is used. The mullein must be infused in advance so that it can stand in water for a week, and then water each bush with the infusion.

ON A NOTE! In the absence of organic matter, it is very effective to use green “teas” - infusions of nettles and weeds.

The next feeding, according to the schedule, is no earlier than in 10-14 days. Mineral formulations are suitable here (if the first feeding was organic) or vice versa. Nitrogen fertilizers are needed for the growth of peppers, but at the time of flowering and fruiting they require phosphorus and potassium.

Peppers are especially demanding of potassium; when it is deficient, the leaf blades become rough, and the fruits become small and have a mediocre taste. Therefore, it is necessary to provide the plants with a sufficient amount of this component, but do not forget about the norms.

For fertilizing, you can also use various folk remedies, including baker's yeast, iodine compounds, boric acid and, of course, wood ash.

Proper care of tall, handsome peppers will allow you to get a high harvest and please your family with ripe and tasty vitamin-rich fruits.

Reviews

We bring to your attention reviews from those who have already planted this hybrid at home or on the site.

Victor, Belgorod region: “I grew peppers in January in a window, and then transplanted them into the ground in mid-May. As a result, by the second year the tree grew to 3 meters in height! The peppers on it are a little spicy and like to be watered. A very beautiful plant!”

Alena, Yaroslavl: “I grew this hybrid from gift seeds on the balcony. As a result, many bright, beautiful peppers ripened! I was sure that it was impossible to eat such beauty. After I found out that it was edible, I decided to plant such bushes in the garden.”

Vera Anatolyevna, Cherepovets: “In the greenhouse, this pepper showed excellent results: a large, tall bush produced a lot of fruit. I dug it up along with the still green peppers in September and took it home in a bucket. Until December it delighted me with its beauty! The only negative is that it requires a lot of space.”

Not a myth, but a reality

Imagine a real tree, the crown of which is completely covered with tomatoes. And its trunk is not like that of a baobab, but fragile, thin, which can break without tying it up. Fruits begin to appear on the branches after flowering. At first they are green, and then, after reaching a certain size and “maturity”, they turn red. This unusual tree can, with a lot of work and patience, be grown in your summer cottage in the garden.

However, a tomato tree does not easily turn into a Klondike tomato. It doesn’t always take root everywhere. Climate and soil are the main conditions that can affect its “life.” Although even now, enthusiasts manage to grow tomatoes in open ground, not to mention in greenhouses.

The Japanese showed everyone who is trying to “make a fairy tale come true”, trying to get a huge harvest from one tomato tree, that their efforts are not in vain. Back in 1985, enthusiasts from the Land of the Rising Sun grew a tomato vine from just one tomato seed in six months, on which, almost losing count, “Unbelieving Thomas” counted 13,312 fruits! Here, of course, it could not have happened without the increasingly powerful computer technologies. From the day of “birth” until “growing up”, i.e. until the moment when ripe tomatoes appeared on the tree, it was monitored around the clock by computers that constantly adjusted the modes:

  • air;
  • drip irrigation;
  • lighting.

Big Momma tomatoes: advantages of the variety and its analogues

In addition to these manipulations, others were carried out. They helped the tree to properly feed on water and air. Computers strictly monitored the lighting of the tomato brainchild of Japanese scientists who managed to grow such a prolific tomato giant.

Ordinary vegetable growers cannot compete with the Japanese armed with computer technology, as well as some breeders from other countries. But in Russia there were enthusiasts who seriously took up the task of growing such varieties of tomato trees. Without any computers, using his own methods, scientist from Primorye G.A. Protopopov grew his miracle tomato tree in a laboratory greenhouse, from which he managed to collect a little less tomatoes in a year than the Japanese. The total weight of the harvest turned out to be impressive - one and a half tons.

Gardeners' opinions

  • Valentina from Kursk. I have been growing peppers in my own greenhouse for 8 years. I am constantly adding to my collection of varieties. I wanted something unusual. And last season my husband brought seedlings of this hybrid. I had to tinker, but as a result, the pepper began to bear fruit very first. The peppers are small, but there are a lot of them.
  • Victor from the Moscow region. Pepper “settled” in my greenhouse 2 years ago. It's been one of my favorites ever since. The bushes really look like trees, but they don’t turn out as lush and tall as in the photo of the seed packaging. I admit that it’s a matter of care – I can’t devote much time.

Miracle tree F1 got its name for a reason. With a little effort, you can grow a fabulous-looking plant and treat yourself and your loved ones with a vitamin-rich vegetable early on.
