Reviews

The “Golden” variety is one of my favorites because it produces very tasty and juicy fruits. At the same time, it is quite productive and easy to care for. I advise you to carry out regular fertilizing during the growing season, as I have noticed that they significantly increase the yield. However, I do not recommend planting next to other tomatoes, as they pollinate each other and lose their unique properties.

For variety, I grow the Zolotoy variety in my summer cottage, since in the market and in stores you can mainly find red varieties. In addition, Golden attracts with its excellent taste, especially if used in salads. I am an amateur gardener, so the unpretentiousness of this variety is a plus for me.

Among the elegant yellow and orange varieties, the Golden Naliv tomato occupies a top position. It is loved for its delicate, tasty pulp, good tolerance to heat and cold, as well as stable yields in any weather.

History of selection

“Golden Drop” was bred by Russian breeders and is successfully grown in almost all regions of our country. To obtain a high yield, agronomists advise planting this tomato in film greenhouses or glass greenhouses.

Where the climate is warm enough, this variety grows well in open ground. It is suitable for both farm production and individual gardens. The “Golden Drop” fruits withstand storage and transportation very well.

It is recommended to collect upon reaching physiological ripeness.

Which regions are best to grow in?

The variety can be grown in all regions of the Russian Federation.

In the south they practice planting in the garden, in the middle zone “Golden Drop” is cultivated in greenhouses, and in the north - only in heated greenhouses.

Landing

Prepare the soil in the fall. Good predecessors for tomatoes are beds of cabbage, cucumbers, and potatoes. Remove debris, plant debris, weeds and dig up the soil. Also, do not forget to disinfect the area. An excellent remedy for this is the above-mentioned potassium permanganate.

Plant seedlings in early July. Place the plant in rows, leaving a distance of about 40 cm between the bushes. After planting, water the beds generously with warm water.

Rules for planting seedlings

By the time of planting, the plants must have at least 6 leaves and be at least 30 cm high. The environment must meet the following conditions:

  • Air humidity – up to 60%;
  • Air temperature – not lower than 14*C;
  • The ground temperature is not lower than 12*C.

IMPORTANT: When planting seedlings, the bed must already be equipped with a garter system: posts must be driven into the planting holes, trellises must be installed.

Plants need enough space to grow and develop. Closing the foliage is not desirable, as it disrupts air exchange and interferes with photosynthesis. Therefore, for 1 sq. m plant no more than 3 plants.

Description of the Golden Bull variety

The Golden Bull variety is classified as medium-sized. The plant is indeterminate.

Features of cultivation

  • Seeds are planted 60-65 days before transplanting to a permanent location.
  • Three plants are planted per square meter.
  • The bush is formed into 1-2 stems, each with 3-4 brushes for growing large fruits.

Harvest and storage

The first amber-yellow tomatoes can already be harvested in late June - early July. Fruiting is friendly and simultaneous. To increase the duration of formation and maturation of ovaries, fruits should be picked at the stage of technical ripeness. Thanks to this, the bush will be freed from excess load - it will not waste its energy on ripening the fruits, and will therefore direct it to the formation of new ovaries.

Many people believe that unripe fruits are inferior in quality to those that have ripened in the garden. This is an erroneous opinion, since unripe tomatoes in the sun will quickly ripen without losing their taste and commercial qualities.

By the end of August, as the air temperature drops, metabolic processes in the bushes slow down, so they gradually die off. At this time, you need to collect all the tomatoes on the branches, otherwise they will spoil or die in low temperatures.

The harvested crop of any maturity can be stored on the floor of the greenhouse. It is worth laying a garden film under it, and covering it with hay on top. The optimal air temperature is +16...+23°C, and humidity is 70-80%.

Agrotechnics of cultivation

To sow tomatoes, use a special container with a drainage hole at the bottom to protect the plants from blackleg disease. A soil mixture of sand and peat or a universal substrate is poured into the containers.

Before planting in the soil, the seeds are treated with an aqueous solution of potassium permanganate (aloe) and a growth stimulator. The seed is planted to a depth of 1 cm and watered with warm water using a sprayer. To form strong seedlings, seeds are planted at a distance from each other.

The container is covered with film and placed in a well-lit place with regular air circulation. Until the first shoots appear, the temperature is maintained at +23 °C. After the first shoots appear, the film is removed so as not to expose the plants to excess moisture evaporation.

Periodically moderate watering is carried out with a finely sprayed stream so as not to flood the seedlings with water. In the phase of formation of 1-2 true leaves, seedlings are picked into separate pots.

For this purpose, peat containers are used, with which it is convenient to transplant the bushes to a permanent place. To better adapt seedlings to new conditions, seedlings can be hardened from the moment the first shoots appear.

In this case, the temperature is reduced to +8... +10 °C at night and +15 °C during the day for 3 days. Hardening is carried out until transplantation into the greenhouse. For growing tomatoes, areas located in the southern part are chosen.

Tomatoes can be cultivated in the same place for several years. The key to an excellent harvest is the mandatory enrichment of the soil with organic fertilizers.

Preparing the soil for seedlings requires mandatory loosening and enrichment with potassium and nitrogen fertilizers. Before planting, make holes and water them well.

The best predecessors for tomatoes are cucumbers, zucchini, onions, and carrots. It is recommended to place 2-3 bushes per 1 m². It is necessary to plant seedlings a little deeper than they grew in the greenhouse.

Experienced vegetable growers recommend removing several lower leaves and deepening the seedling to half the stem. You need to place the bushes in the hole slightly at an angle, and after planting, water them with water and sprinkle the hole itself with earth.

Caring for plants involves timely watering, application of complex fertilizers, and loosening the soil. To prevent fungal diseases, use the fungicide Ridomil Gold MC. It provides partial protection against diseases that appear along with tomato late blight.
