Description of the tomato variety Extreme, its characteristics and cultivation

Since 2007, the Extreme tomato has been included in the state register of indeterminate varieties intended for cultivation in open ground or in film structures. The seeds are sold and advertised as a variety adapted for cultivation in regions with cold climates. The advantage of a plant with early ripening is its good survival in difficult conditions.

Description of the strengths of the variety:

  • ability to withstand heat, drought, low temperatures;
  • resistance to tomato diseases, good tolerance to blossom end rot, root rot and bacterial spot;
  • versatility, possibility of use in salads and winter recipes;
  • rapid recovery from stress without loss of fruiting ability;
  • ability to produce a large volume of fruit.

The plant is distinguished by strong shoots and has medium-sized leaf plates of a rich green color. The bushes are distinguished by a small amount of green mass. A characteristic feature is the shortened internodes of the plant. The inflorescence has a simple structure and has a stalk with an articulation.

Tomato Extreme - description and characteristics of the variety

The Extreme tomato variety has been known to Russian gardeners since 2007 and has managed to gain an excellent reputation. Originally created for the conditions of the northern regions of our country, thanks to the early period of fruit ripening, it grows and bears fruit well in difficult climatic conditions.

General characteristics of the variety

The Extreme tomato belongs to the indeterminate type, its plants reach a height of 1.5 m, the bushes are distinguished by sparse branches and a small number of leaves, which provides access to the sun's rays for all the berries, even in the depths of the bush. The leaves are medium in size, rich green in color. The inflorescences are simple in structure, the stalks are articulated, and the internodes are short. The tomato easily copes with both hot and dry weather and cold snaps.

The variety is distinguished by high yield; up to 4.6 kg can be obtained per square meter of plantation.

Description of the fruit and their use

Extreme berries are very versatile in use. They are good both raw, for example, as part of summer salads or other vegetable dishes, and in preparations for the winter.

Features of agricultural technology

Growing tomatoes of the Extermal variety begins by sprouting the seeds for seedlings. Approximately 55 days before planting the seedlings in the ground, the seeds are sown to a depth of 1 cm in containers with fertile soil. It is recommended to use a mixture of garden soil (2 parts) with humus (2 parts) and fine sand (1 part). It is recommended to cover containers with sown seeds with film to maintain soil temperature and moisture. When the first loops of the stems hatch, the film can be removed. From this point on, the seedlings will require a consistently warm atmosphere and access to sunlight. If natural light is not enough, you can use agricultural lamps - at low cost this will give a noticeable positive effect.

After the first pair of true leaves appear, the seedlings require picking. Plants are transplanted into larger containers, but no more than 10 cm in diameter. If the tomatoes are growing in an open garden bed, the seedlings are transplanted into the ground after a consistently warm temperature of at least 16 degrees has been established, eliminating the possibility of frost. A week before planting in the ground, the seedlings need to be fed; a mineral fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium is suitable for this. The seedlings are planted in a bed with an interval between seedlings of 40 by 80 cm, placing 4 bushes per square meter.

For proper development, plants are pinched, removing excess shoots from the leaf axils and forming a bush into one stem. Above the fourth raceme, the stem is pinched, stopping its growth in height. When the fruits are set and filled, the plants must be tied up using trellises or simply greenhouse rungs. The soil of the bed must be loosened regularly to aerate the root system and retain moisture. Weeds are removed as they appear. Also, for the proper development of tomatoes, it is necessary to establish adequate watering - in the morning, with warm water, at the roots of the plants. We must not forget about feeding tomatoes - with natural or artificial fertilizers. Harvesting can begin 105–110 days after sowing the seeds.

Gardeners' opinion

Gardeners growing the Extreme tomato note, first of all, its extraordinary endurance and early ripening, which allows them to obtain an excellent harvest in areas with an increased risk for agriculture. They are also impressed by the fact that the variety is resistant to tomato diseases. Fully justifying their name, these tomatoes perfectly tolerate sudden temperature fluctuations that are detrimental to other varieties of tomatoes. Many buyers like the “sugar” taste of the fruit.

Features of agricultural technology of the hybrid Bystrenok F1

Tomatoes are grown through seedlings, taking into account when sowing seeds the timing of planting them in the ground or greenhouse. Bystrenok F1 grows well in open ground, film and polycarbonate greenhouses. It is convenient to grow it in low greenhouses and under arches; the height of the tomato allows such options.

Sowing seedlings

Tomato seedlings are ready for planting at approximately 60-65 days of age. To get an early harvest, it is necessary to calculate the time for sowing the hybrid seeds. For example, you plan to plant Bystrenka in open ground (approximate dates) at the end of May. This means that sowing for seedlings is mid-March (minus 60 days and we also add days for seed germination).

Usually the bag of seeds indicates that the hybrid does not require special preparation. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare containers and soil and sow seeds on certain days.

ON A NOTE! When growing tomatoes in separate containers, it is advisable to first sow the seeds in small pots. Later, when 2-3 true leaves appear, the seedlings need to be planted in a larger container.

The optimal temperature for growing seedlings is about +23ºC…+25ºC. At night, temperatures up to +18ºC are acceptable. Seedlings should grow in a bright and warm place, without drafts. If necessary, in March, especially on cloudy days, tomatoes can be illuminated.

Water the seedlings moderately, avoiding excess moisture. During the growing period, it is recommended to make two feedings (you can use complex fertilizer or Kemira).

It is necessary to do picking, transferring the seedlings to larger containers. This technique will allow tomatoes to grow a more developed root system, and also avoid stretching of seedlings.

About 10 days before the tomatoes “move” to a permanent place, the seedlings are taken out to fresh air for hardening. At first, the air procedure should not exceed 15 minutes, then the time is increased.

Description of the hybrid tomato Extreme and fruit characteristics

Tomato varieties that are recommended for cultivation in risky farming areas are considered especially valuable. One of them is the Extreme tomato. It has one main advantage - rapid ripening. This suggests that the plant will be able to bear fruit even with a short summer.

For northern latitudes, this factor plays a key role. However, early ripening varieties are loved in the central part of Russia and in the south. Many gardeners prefer these tomatoes because they are less susceptible to illness. Already from the name you can understand that these tomatoes can withstand a lot, including severe temperature changes.

Tomato "Nikola"

The hero of our short note today will be the Nikola tomato from the SeDek agricultural company. Medium early variety. The first fruits are harvested 94-115 days after the sprouts appear on the surface.

Description and characteristics

The bush is semi-spreading, non-standard, determinant. The height in open ground is no more than 65 cm (in greenhouses it sometimes grows a little more). Branching is average. The foliage is small. The leaves are ordinary, smooth, light green in color. Compact inflorescences have an intermediate type of flowering. The first is laid over 8-9 sheets, and each subsequent one is laid 1-2 sheets from the previous one.

Red fruits have a round shape. Each of them can contain from 6 to 10 cameras. Average weight is from 75 to 100 g. The taste, if not the most ideal I have ever come across, is certainly very good. Each tomato contains from 4.6 to 4.8% dry matter. The application is universal - they are great for summer salads, making juices, pastas, various sauces and as a basis for winter preparations. The tomatoes set well. The average yield is from 3.7 to 4.5 kg per 1 m2.

Summer residents value the “Nikola” variety for its stable yield from year to year, high marketability and taste of the fruit, and uniform ripening of the fruit. In addition, these plants are not very picky about the type of soil, are cold-resistant and tolerate various vagaries of weather well. “Nikola” also does not need stepson procedures.

Among the main disadvantages, one can note the predisposition of these plants to diseases such as powdery mildew, septoria and macrosporiosis. There are also frequent cases of bush disease with blossom end rot and black bacterial spot.

To neutralize the influence of these negative factors, it is important to perform a number of simple steps. Before sowing seeds, be sure to treat them with a weak solution of potassium permanganate or other special preparations

Avoid excessively dense plantings. Treat with fungicidal agents according to the instructions.

Growing and care

Seeds for seedlings should be planted in late March - early April. Seedlings dive into separate pots in the phase of 1-2 true leaves. During the growth of seedlings, they are fed 2 or 3 times with complex mineral fertilizers. A week before planting in a permanent place, the plants begin to gradually harden off.

Seedlings are planted in the greenhouse in mid-May, and in open ground in early June. The optimal planting pattern is 50 x 60 cm. Care is simple, the main thing is to water your tomatoes in time with soft, settled water (heated in the sun one day in a barrel), loosen, weed and hill up the beds. It is advisable to feed the bushes with fertilizers several times a season.

Tomato “Raspberry Sugar”

In general, we prefer to eat tomatoes fresh. And this “Raspberry Sugar” was very much loved for its watermelon pulp, aroma and wonderful taste. We use this variety in salads and slices, and it’s also very good to simply eat it while walking around the site!

I grow it in Kuban by direct sowing in a greenhouse in March. It begins to bear fruit in July (mid-late) and produces beautiful clusters of 3-5 pieces. The fruits themselves are 130-180 g, smooth and very beautiful. Fruits until frost. It will, of course, take longer to bear fruit in a greenhouse, but we still haven’t bothered with the greenhouse - somehow the greenhouse is not yet associated with Kuban.

Indeterminate with a stated height of 1.5 m, but mine is a little lower, about 1.3 m. A productive and healthy variety. I treated only with onion and mustard infusion against stink bugs, which have been attacking peppers and tomatoes for the second year.

By the way, about growing in a greenhouse: my husband made a greenhouse for me under a translucent polycarbonate canopy on the south side of the house. This is the influence of N.I. Kurdyumov. Indeed, tomatoes protected from atmospheric moisture are almost not affected by fungal diseases. It’s convenient for me to tie them to the frame of the canopy and assemble them conveniently.

Characteristics of the Beauty tomato and growing a hybrid variety

Tomato Beauty f1 got its name because of its beautiful appearance. During the period of full ripening, Beauty pleases its owners with bright crimson tomatoes. The shape and size of all fruits are almost the same. Tomatoes have elastic skin that is not prone to cracking. This makes them resistant to transportation and long-term storage. Fruit weight – 150-200 g.

What is a Beauty tomato?

The characteristics and description of the variety are as follows:

  1. The tomato ripens in 100-110 days.
  2. This is a hybrid variety that is resistant to weather conditions and various diseases.
  3. High yield and good taste are the main indicators of tomatoes.
  4. This variety can be grown in any region of our country.
  5. Tomatoes are planted in open ground in warm areas, and in cold areas - under a film cover. At temperatures below +16…+17ºС the plant dies.

How to grow tomatoes?

How to grow Beauty f1 tomatoes? The seeds are ready for planting by the end of March. They are planted in soil containing peat, sand and ash or purchased with a ready-made substrate. For planting, choose a shallow container. The seeds are planted in a row, maintaining a distance of 3-5 cm. Planting depth is 1 cm. To speed up the process of hatching, the soil is sprayed with water and covered with film. The film covering is not opened until the first shoots appear.

Picking is done after the formation of 2-3 true leaves. At this stage of development, the plant needs warmth and light. Seedlings should be protected from direct sunlight. Instead of watering, it is recommended to spray the soil with a spray bottle once a week.

An important activity is hardening off the seedlings, especially if they are preparing to plant them in open ground. 2 weeks before the intended transplantation, the seedlings are accustomed to outdoor conditions. To do this, they are taken out into the air every day, initially for a few minutes, gradually increasing the time.

Tomato belongs to the determinate species. The plant is not very tall, reaches a height of 80 cm. During the growth process, the stems form and moderately shoot. The trunk stops growing after the formation of 5-6 flower clusters. Since the root system of tomatoes is small, 1 or 2 stems are left during formation. This way the fruits will receive adequate nutrition and will not waste their taste.

To prevent the bushes from getting sick and feel comfortable, you need to plant them in one row at a distance of 50-60 cm from each other. The plant will be greatly supported by tying it to supports. The lower leaves in contact with the ground are removed to facilitate watering and prevent fungal infections.

The soil must be loosened periodically. This action improves the drainage properties of the soil

This must be done extremely carefully so as not to damage the roots. You need to be attentive to the appearance of weeds and remove them in a timely manner.

Weeds feed on fertilizers, which are needed for the development of tomatoes.

Next, we will consider the features of applying fertilizers for tomatoes. When the plant begins to bear fruit, the amount of nitrogen in fertilizers must be sharply reduced or removed. This chemical element promotes the growth of green mass, which is absolutely not necessary at the time of fruit filling.

When setting fruit, the plant needs the components of boron, manganese, iodine and potassium. They affect the meatiness of tomatoes and the high sugar content. You can prepare this dressing yourself. To do this, you need to mix wood ash, boric acid and iodine.

Reviews about the Krasotka variety are positive

People who have been growing tomatoes for many years are advised to pay special attention to the quality of the soil. They believe that the survival rate of tomatoes largely depends on it

In general, gardeners are satisfied with the Krasotka variety. They are especially pleased with the good sweet taste.

Tomato growing technology

The far north was created for extreme farming regions. Tomatoes have time to fill and ripen on the bushes in the short and cool summer. The variety does not shine with yield, but it requires minimal care.

The applicants for registration and originators of the variety are: St. Petersburg agro and entrepreneur Kozak Vladimir Ivanovich. The Far North was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements in 2007 and received permission for cultivation in all Russian regions.

However, it is most popular among residents of the north: Karelia, Yakutia, and the North-West. Getting red tomatoes in open ground in these areas is considered almost a miracle.

Southerners are interested in the variety only for its lazy agricultural technology: without pinching, gartering, with a minimum amount of watering and fertilizing.

Tomato seeds Red North from the author - agro

Sowing seedlings in late March - early April. If in your region the ground has already thawed and warmed up at this time, you can sow immediately in a permanent place under covering material or in a greenhouse. Despite the name, this tomato is afraid of frost and grows well at 20... 25 °C. Seeds germinate at approximately the same temperature.

Emerging seedlings need light, warmth and moisture. Already during the seedling period, this variety shows its compactness. The plants do not stretch, look stocky and low compared to seedlings of other varieties.

Standard tomato seedlings grow strong and do not stretch

In the phase of 2–3 true leaves, pick. A week after it, feed it. During the growth period, tomatoes need mainly nitrogen, so you can prepare your own infusions of nettle, dung or mullein.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EI-x5TbTcmU

However, such fertilizers have a strong and unpleasant odor. If the tomatoes are on the windowsill, then it is better to buy a special mineral mixture for them.

Plant in open ground in the Far North when the threat of frost has passed, and under temporary shelter or in a greenhouse - 1-2 weeks earlier. The planting pattern is 40x50 cm. By this time, the seedlings should already be hardened, that is, accustomed to the open sun, wind, and temperature changes.

Care after disembarkation is not much different from what was before it. The bushes do not need supports or garters, do not form stepsons or there are very few of them.

In open ground, you can even do without watering if it rains at least once a week. In a greenhouse and during dry summers, the Far North needs to be watered once a week.

From the beginning of flowering to the beginning of fruit ripening, special feeding is needed. And since this period in the Far North lasts a little more than a month, the garden bed will have to be fertilized only 2-3 times with a frequency of 10-14 days.

But now fertilizing must contain phosphorus, potassium and microelements. Organic infusions cannot be watered. You can use wood ash or ready-made tomato mixtures from the store.

During the flowering period, for better setting, spray the leaves with a solution of Bud, Ovary or boric acid.

Reviews from gardeners

The Far North tomato produces medium-sized fruits with a classic appearance and taste. However, the variety is a godsend for residents of regions with risky farming, where ordinary tomatoes do not have time to ripen; they are picked green and ripened at home. The Far North will give you the opportunity to pick and eat red tomatoes from the bush.

Many vegetable growers are interested in tomato varieties that could grow successfully in any climatic region of Russia and still produce a stable harvest.

Tomato Batyanya belongs to just such varieties. It is chosen for their beds by vegetable growers living both in the south of the country and in colder regions.

Let's consider the description and characteristics of this variety, as well as the agricultural technology for growing these tomatoes.

The Batyanya tomato variety is of Russian origin. Included in the State Register in 2008. Designed for cultivation in private household plots in open beds and under film covers. The distribution region is the entire territory of the Russian Federation. The variety is early ripening, the first tomatoes can be harvested within 3 months after germination.

Description and characteristics of tomatoes of the Batyanya variety from the originator:

  • plant of indeterminate type;
  • the bush is tall, in a greenhouse it can grow up to 1.7-2 m, with strong shoot formation;
  • the leaf is large, dark green in color;
  • inflorescences of a simple type, one bears an average of 6 fruits;
  • stalk with articulation;
  • heart-shaped tomato with a spout;
  • an unripe tomato is green with a dark spot at the stalk, a ripe one is raspberry in color;
  • the skin is smooth, shiny;
  • the pulp is fleshy, juicy, sugary, very sweet;
  • the number of chambers with seeds is more than 4 pcs.;
  • the taste is good.

The yield of this tomato variety is 17 kg/m2 with an average fruit weight of 200-350 g.

Batyan tomatoes are used primarily for fresh consumption, as well as for cutting into salads, but they can also be used to prepare juices, sauce, paste, salt, and marinate in pieces. These tomatoes are stored for a long time and can be transported. They do not crack during transportation, but still, after collection, it is best to quickly process or sell them.

Tomatoes of the Batyanya variety have qualities that are characterized as positive, for example, they are:

  • capable of producing crops even in cool and short summers;
  • resistant to many diseases of nightshade crops;
  • have high taste and long fruiting;
  • are characterized by consistently high yields.

There are no shortcomings found in the Batyanya tomato variety, except that the bushes need to be tied up and shaped, which some vegetable growers may not like.

Batyan tomatoes are grown in seedlings. Sowing of seeds begins at the end of February - March, with the expectation that by the time the tomatoes are planted in the beds, they are 50-60 days old. There is no need to treat seeds from packets; they are already treated with special substances that protect them from diseases. They are sown dry.

To grow seedlings, cups, peat pots, and plastic cassettes are used. They are filled with universal soil for seedlings, watered, and 1 seed is dropped into each container to a depth of 1-1.5 cm.

After planting the seeds for seedlings, to create a greenhouse effect, the container is covered with film and placed in a warm room where the temperature does not drop below 23-25 °C. After the sprouts appear, the cover is removed.

Lighting on short spring days, when seedlings are grown, should last at least 10-12 hours. If there is not enough natural light at this time, the tomatoes should be supplemented with phytolamps.

This will prevent them from stretching and keep them strong and healthy.

Seedlings intended for open ground are hardened 1-1.5 weeks before moving there, taking them out into fresh air every day, first for 1-2 hours, and then this time is increased.

The place for tomatoes is chosen in a place where cabbages of all kinds, pumpkins, zucchini, cucumbers, legumes, green crops, and carrots previously grew. It is better not to use any nightshades where they grew.

Add 1 tbsp to each hole before planting. l. complex fertilizer, for example, nitroammofoska, add drops to the tomato and water it. Additionally, tomatoes can be watered with “Kornevin” for better rooting.

Immediately on the day of planting, supports are placed in the garden bed to which the growing bushes will be tied.

After planting the seedlings, Batyanya tomatoes are cared for as standard. The seed manufacturer notes that they respond well to watering and fertilizing with complex fertilizers, so you must not forget to irrigate and fertilize the plants on time.

Watering is carried out frequently at first until the seedlings take root, then you can water less frequently, and during the period of mass fruit laying it becomes more frequent again.

After irrigation, loosening is carried out - this is a necessary technique so that oxygen can penetrate to the roots and weeds do not grow in the beds.

Fertilizers can be used organic and mineral, and it’s also a good idea to combine them. From organic matter - infusion of livestock and bird manure, ash; from mineral fertilizers - first nitrogen-containing (saltpeter), then phosphorus-potassium (superphosphate, potassium sulfate, monophosphate, etc.).

Complex fertilizers with microelements, such as Agricola, Effecton, Kemira, are also used. Among folk remedies, infusions of herbs and yeast are suitable. The first feeding is carried out when 2 weeks have passed after transplanting to the beds, the next - after the start of flowering, and the 3rd and 4th - when the tomatoes begin to sing en masse.

Fertilizer application is combined with watering.

Tomatoes of the Batyanya variety are formed into 1 or 2 stems. In the first case, all the stepsons are removed, in the second, the very first one is left, from which the second stem grows.

It is important not to miss this moment, so that later you do not have to lose part of the harvest through their fault.

Heart-shaped Batyan tomatoes are collected as they ripen. Of course, the most delicious are the fully ripe ones, but you can also pick slightly unripe fruits. They are already sweet, suitable for both salads and canning. Several of the most beautiful and ripe tomatoes can be left for seeds.

Reviews from vegetable growers

This variety is quite popular among vegetable growers, so there are plenty of reviews about the Batyanya tomato.

  • 1 Characteristics of tomatoes
  • 2 Fruit characteristics
  • 3 Reviews

For northern latitudes, this factor plays a key role. However, early ripening varieties are loved in the central part of Russia and in the south. Many gardeners prefer these tomatoes because they are less susceptible to illness. Already from the name you can understand that these tomatoes can withstand a lot, including severe temperature changes.

Characteristics of tomatoes

One of the main features of the Extreme hybrid is the shortened internode. This suggests that even on short trunks there will be a lot of ovaries. And there are few leaves on such bushes. And this is also a big plus, since excess greenery does not prevent the fruits from receiving sunlight, which in some regions may be very scarce.

The description of the variety and its characteristics indicate that Extreme is considered an early variety. It can be planted in a permanent place 50 days after sowing the seeds. After another 50 days you can harvest.

Depending on climatic conditions, the recommended planting location will differ. In the north and center, it is best to use Extreme greenhouses or high greenhouses for growing tomatoes. In the south, the best option would be to grow in open ground.

To obtain a good yield, it is necessary to properly care for the plant. For the Extreme hybrid, there is no need to spray against diseases, since the breeders tried to make the tomato as resistant to diseases as possible. But tomatoes need fertilizing. They can be natural or artificial.

It is recommended to apply them before the fruits begin to ripen. The care rules also include loosening the soil, which is necessary to provide the root system with oxygen. Weeding and weed removal will be mandatory. Otherwise, the yield will noticeably decrease.

Don’t forget about the correct formation of bushes:

  • Stepchildren branches should be disposed of in a timely manner.
  • In addition, it is recommended to pinch the growth point immediately after the 4th brush.
  • In general, the bushes of the Extreme hybrid grow up to 1.5 meters.
  • The best fruitfulness is observed when the plant is formed into one stem.

Fruit characteristics

If the gardener follows all the rules of agricultural technology that apply to the Extreme variety, he is guaranteed 5 kg of delicious tomatoes from each bush. But it is not recommended to plant plants close together, so it is best to place about 4 bushes per 1 m².

There are quite a lot of fruits. They are very tasty and juicy, as confirmed by numerous reviews. If you break a ripe tomato, you can see its sugary pulp. Despite the fact that these tomatoes are very sweet, juicy and meaty, they do not crack. Round and red tomatoes have a fairly dense skin, due to which they are well stored and can withstand long-term transportation.

The tomatoes are quite large in size, but this did not prevent them from gaining universal status. These tomatoes are recommended for use in salads and for winter preparations, including for pickling in their entirety.

In a jar, the fruits hold their shape well and do not crack. The average weight of tomatoes of the Extreme variety is 250 g. There may be larger fruits on the lower clusters, and closer to the top they become smaller.

Advantages of a hybrid

The variety Kistevoy belongs to the selection of Russian agrobiologists and represents one of the varieties of brush tomatoes. Cultivation conditions depend on the climatic characteristics of the region.

Mostly the hybrid is grown in protected soil (film, polycarbonate, glazed greenhouses). Reviews from vegetable growers indicate the popularity of the variety.

A tomato with an average early ripening period begins to bear fruit 90 days after planting the seedlings in the ground in a permanent place. The indeterminate bush reaches a height of 180 cm during the growing season. Plants with an average number of leaves.

Flowers are collected in simple inflorescences. The hybrid is characterized by a high rate of set; up to 18 fruits ripen in a cluster. The productivity of the variety reaches 36 kg of tomatoes per 1 m². The hybrid bears fruit for a long period.

Tomatoes are distinguished by their round shape, intense red color, rich aroma, and excellent taste. The weight of ripe fruit reaches 90-110 g. The tomato has a glossy surface and medium density. The fruits are not prone to cracking during harvest ripening.

The hybrid is resistant to various viral diseases of nightshade crops. The plant tolerates a lack of sunlight well and easily adapts to negative natural factors when grown in open ground.

With a lack of heat, it shows stable fruiting. Thanks to their dense skin and pulp, tomatoes retain their appearance during transportation. Tomatoes are removed from the bush with brushes. This method of cleaning allows you to extend the shelf life.

Features of planting, growing and care

Requirements:

  • the soil should be sandy and loamy;
  • the soil is enriched with humus;
  • earth – neutral;
  • wind protection is required;
  • when planting, the soil should be well heated;

air humidity should not exceed 60%; temperature range – from 20 to 25 degrees.

Time for sowing:

  • for seedlings in containers - February 26 - March 10;
  • when sowing in the ground, but under film - April 11 - May 1;
  • for late planting in the garden - May 1-5.

How to plant seeds for seedlings?

Preparation of seed material begins approximately 2 months before transferring the bushes to open ground. Seeds require special processing, which eliminates the incidence of disease. To do this, they are placed in a manganese solution for 15-20 minutes. Next, to plant tomatoes for seedlings, you need to adhere to the following rules:

  • the soil should be moist and slightly compacted;
  • distance between seed material – maximum 4 cm;
  • Each seed must be carefully pressed;
  • the temperature before the formation of sprouts should not be lower than 25 degrees;
  • after emergence of seedlings, the temperature decreases (20-22 degrees);
  • Picking seedlings into separate containers is carried out after 3 leaves are formed on the bush.

How to plant seedlings and care rules

Seedlings are transplanted only when there is no risk of frost, since the plant is considered heat-loving. Rules:

  • The seedlings should have a height of 28-30 cm and be up to 60 days old.
  • The number of formed leaves is from 6 to 8.
  • The leaf part should be saturated with a green tint. There should be no stains, damage or wrinkles on it and the stems.
  • Before transplanting, the roots are carefully inspected (deformations are excluded).
  • Planting in the ground is carried out in rows or in a checkerboard pattern.
  • The holes are dug at a distance of 50-60 cm from each other.

Inter-row width – 50 cm.

In greenhouse conditions, frequent ventilation is required, but so that the plants do not get blown, since they do not like wind. Optimal temperature and humidity levels must be maintained.

On open ground in dry, hot weather, the Supermodel must be moisturized every day. If the summer is excessively rainy, then to eliminate the risk of disease, it is necessary to make grooves from each hole that will drain water.

Watering rules:

  • watering is carried out between the rows under the horse system;
  • moistening should be carried out to a depth of 35-40 cm.

Feeding:

  1. The first time feeding seedlings is done a couple of weeks after transplanting to a permanent place. Feeding with potassium and phosphorus is used.
  2. Secondary feeding is carried out after a month. Complex fertilizers are applied. For example, Nitrophoska and the like.
  3. Next time (in another month) you need to add potassium and nitrogen.

Diseases and pests

Control of pests and diseases that are dangerous for the Supermodel:

Phomasis disease. Treatment is carried out using Hom

Along with this, it is important to remove and destroy affected tomatoes. And also reduce the amount of watering and application of nitrogen fertilizers

For dry spotting, Tattoo, Consento, Antrakol are used. The variety is actively attacked by Colorado potato beetles. Prestige, Apache, Aktara, Taboo, Regent, Corado, Lightning, Commander are used against them.

It is important to carry out preventive measures, including the following:

  • compliance with crop rotation and irrigation regime requirements;
  • weed removal;
  • trimming the lower leaves;
  • lack of thickening during planting;
  • timely loosening and fertilization;
  • treatment of seedlings before transplantation with Bordeaux solution;
  • adding copper oxychloride;
  • adding ash to the soil.

Features of care

The soil around the planted plants is loosened and maintained in this condition during the growing season. If necessary, weeds are pulled out and removed from the site.

The bushes are spudded twice. This procedure improves the thermal regime of the soil and promotes the formation of additional roots. The plants are earthed up for the first time 10-14 days after planting in the beds, and the second time after 15-20 days.

Water the tomatoes regularly, making sure that the soil does not dry out. No more than 700-900 ml of water is consumed per bush. Excessive humidity can lead to late blight and brown spot. It is better to water tomatoes in the evening or in cloudy weather. Also, the soil is moistened immediately before applying fertilizer.

Important!

After the next watering or rain, loosening must be carried out, due to which the moisture will evaporate more slowly and a crust will not form on the surface of the soil.

Plants are regularly inspected to identify pests and dangerous diseases in time. To prevent and treat fungal infections, fungicidal drugs are used: Mikosan, Trichophyte or Fitosporin. When harmful insects appear on tomatoes, the bushes are treated with insecticides: Iskra, Antizhuk, Aktara, Konfidor or Fitoverm.

A month before the end of the growing season, pinch off the main trunk, leaving 2 leaves behind the last inflorescence. New stepsons continue to be removed, which contributes to the smooth ripening of fruits. To keep tomatoes longer, they are picked brown. First of all, fruits that are irregularly shaped or damaged are removed. The harvest must be harvested before the onset of cold weather, because... lowering the temperature to +8°C significantly increases the risk of various diseases.

Brief information about the variety

The characteristics and description of the variety are as follows:

  1. This type of tomato does not belong to hybrid plants.
  2. The fruits ripen on the bushes 90-95 days after planting the seedlings and developing full shoots.
  3. The plant reaches a height of 0.4 m. Its leaves are green. They cover the stem by 40%.
  4. Tomato is well resistant to diseases such as late blight, tobacco mosaic virus, powdery mildew, verticillium, and fusarium.
  5. The variety is intended for cultivation under film covering or in a greenhouse.
  6. The fruit has the appearance of a flattened sphere with weakly defined ribs.
  7. Unripe fruits are colored light green; after ripening they turn red.
  8. The weight of 1 copy reaches 0.13 kg. The fruits are quite fleshy, with a pleasant taste. Each tomato has up to 5-6 chambers.

Tomatoes of this variety can be seen in the photo in the agricultural reference book. The plant has simple inflorescences and grows well in well-cultivated soils illuminated by the sun.

This tomato variety was developed by Russian breeders in 2008. Gardeners note that with proper and timely care for the plant, it gives a good harvest and is practically not susceptible to diseases. The fruits appear and ripen at the same time, which allows you to quickly harvest them. Therefore, even a lazy gardener will not be left without a harvest.

The Lazy Dream variety is planted in the southern regions of the country and in central Russia. To prevent the death of plants when the temperature suddenly drops, it is recommended to cover them with film in unheated greenhouses. When planting tomatoes of this variety in Siberia or the Far North, you must use greenhouses with a good heating system, which should work throughout the entire growing season of the plant.

The best varieties of tomatoes with descriptions

Before you accurately choose a variety or hybrid of tomatoes, you need to decide where exactly they will grow.

For open ground, low-growing varieties that will ripen early are more suitable. Mid-ripening species in good summer weather can produce a fairly good harvest, but they are susceptible to microflora, which can destroy most fruits.

It is customary to grow tall varieties and various hybrids in greenhouses. Here you can plant absolutely any tomatoes, even late-ripening ones.

Tomato variety Tiwai 12 (F1)

Another interesting variety from the Dutch, or Rijk Zwaan, is called Tiwai 12. It is interesting because it can be grown not only on soils, but also on substrates. The variety is suitable for growing in film and glass greenhouses, used in winter-spring and summer-autumn rotations. The tomato was included in the State Register in 2015 with approval in all regions, and is recommended for cultivation in film greenhouses of private farms. It is a hybrid, so it is always labeled F1.

Description

The plant is indeterminate, tall, and shows sufficient generative capacity. Maintains good growth vigor even under heavy loads. Bushes with weak shoot formation, moderately leafy, open type. The leaves are medium sized, light green, regular, slightly corrugated. Internodes are shortened. The stem is strong. Inflorescences are of a simple type, short. The fruit clusters are beautiful, strong, each containing 4 - 6 tomatoes of the same size. Pedicel with articulation.

The fruits are round or slightly flat-round, slightly ribbed, and have a rather soft consistency. The skin is glossy, not thick, but dense. An unripe tomato is light green, without a spot at the stalk; a ripened one becomes deep pink. The pulp of the variety is pink, evenly colored, without a light center, very fleshy, juicy, and sugary when broken. The number of seed nests is 4 - 6, they are small, there are few seeds. The taste is excellent. In terms of size, tomatoes are more likely to be medium-fruited, weighing 150 - 180 grams, which is confirmed by the State Register. With high agricultural technology, fruits can gain weight up to 250 - 340 grams.

Characteristics

Hybrid Tiwai 12 is an early ripening hybrid, although 110-115 days pass from the moment of full shoots to the start of ripening. If you count from planting seedlings, harvesting can begin on days 60–65;

  • ripening proceeds smoothly, the entire cluster ripens almost simultaneously, which is very valuable in industrial cultivation;
  • according to the State Register, marketable yield was 11.8 kg per 1 square meter;
  • the originators note the high immunity of the culture. The variety has high resistance to tomato mosaic virus, cladosporiosis, fusarium wilt, fusarium wilt, verticillium wilt and stemphylliosis. Moderate resistance to yellow leaf curl virus and nematode;
  • tomatoes are resistant to cracking;
  • transportability and keeping quality are at an average level, it should be taken into account that the pulp is still somewhat soft;
  • method of consumption: salad.

Agricultural technology

It is recommended to grow the variety in seedlings. Seedlings are grown with and without picking. The age at which seedlings can be transplanted into the ground is 50 - 55 days. Transplantation into the greenhouse takes place in April. In open ground - in the second half of May, when the soil at a depth of 10 cm warms up to 10 °C - 15 °C. When grown in extended rotation, the crop is grafted onto Emperador. In this case, the bushes have greater strength, the fruits are larger and show better quality in summer and autumn. The plant must be tied up. To maintain productivity, tomatoes are watered and fed in a timely manner.

Hybrid Tiwai 12 is a new variety, but very promising. It is valued for the evenness of the fruit in the cluster, stable yield, and high resistance to major crop diseases. Vegetable growers were also captivated by the taste, which, despite the early ripening of the variety, many call outstanding. The only negative is that you will have to constantly buy seeds.

  • ability to withstand heat, drought, low temperatures;
  • resistance to tomato diseases, good tolerance to blossom end rot, root rot and bacterial spot;
  • versatility, possibility of use in salads and winter recipes;
  • rapid recovery from stress without loss of fruiting ability;

Characteristics of the fetus

The fruits are characterized by a flat-round shape with slight ribbing. The vegetable pulp is medium dense and has a rich tomato flavor. Reviews from gardeners speak about the quality of the “sugar content” of the fruits. Due to these characteristics, tomatoes are ideal for fresh use in salads. Unripe fruits have a light greenish tint, which turns bright red during ripening. The disadvantage of vegetables is their tendency to crack, so it is recommended to remove the fruits in a timely manner.

The average weight of one fruit varies from 150 to 210 grams. During the ripening period, from 1 m2 it is possible to obtain a harvest of 4.6 kilograms. When grown in greenhouse conditions and proper agricultural technology, the yield of tomatoes can be slightly above average, and the weight of the fruit can reach 250 grams.

Features of care

The plant is grown by seedlings. The time for sowing the planting material is determined in such a way that 50 to 55 days pass before the time of planting in a permanent place. Seeds are sown in special containers in previously prepared soil. The following soil composition is considered the most suitable:

  • turf 2 parts;
  • humus 2 parts;
  • fine sand 1 part.

From the moment the seedlings are planted in a permanent place until the first fruits are harvested, 105–110 days pass. Planting material does not need to be deeply buried in the ground. Seedlings are grown at a temperature of 16 C0. Diving is carried out when the shoots form 2 true leaves in a container, the diameter of which does not exceed 10 cm. 7 days before transplanting to a permanent place of cultivation, fertilizing is carried out with a complex mineral fertilizer, which is dominated by potassium and phosphorus.

It is recommended to adhere to a planting pattern of 40 by 80 cm. The shoots are formed into one stem and the pinching procedure is periodically carried out. The growth point is pinched above the fourth brush of the bush. Care consists of timely watering, removing weeds, loosening the soil to better supply the plant with oxygen and feeding with mineral complexes.

II. Indeterminate varieties (unlimited growth)

These are tomatoes that will grow until they turn blue until the owner or the onset of the cold season stops them. They have great yield potential, which is more successfully realized in high greenhouses. We place approximately three bushes on 1 square. With supports such as strong trellises, open ground is not prohibited, which will be especially welcome in the southern regions.

Tomato Scarlet candles

Good for pickling, sweet. This is a patented mid-early variety (Siberian breeders distinguished themselves!). In the state register since 2007. They are characterized by a high ability to form ovaries in any conditions. From 1 sq.m you can actually get a bucket and a half. The clusters are arranged in tiers, the weight of the fruit on the lower branches reaches 120 g, on the top ones - half as much.

Very lightweight. A mid-early Siberian variety for canning whole vegetables. The fruits are elongated, reaching (maximum in our conditions) 13-14 cm in length, weighing about 120 g, and have a beautiful crimson hue. They have few seeds, are very fleshy, strong, and easy to keep. If they are picked green, they do not spoil and ripen perfectly. The variety is very responsive to high-quality fertilizing.

The longest

A new product of Siberian selection. It begins to ripen already on the 110th (you can add a couple more) days from the sprouts appearing on the surface of the soil. Fruits have a unique length - 20 cm (specific size)! They are very elongated, with a small pear-shaped constriction in the upper part, uniformly slightly expanding downwards, with a spout.

High yield

The variety is productive and unpretentious. Tolerates slight shading. It ties well. Neither high nor low temperatures are scary. It succeeds in protected soil, but outdoor cultivation is not prohibited. Tomatoes begin to ripen in 106-113 days; at the same time, the plant successfully continues to grow and form clusters - up to 10 pieces per bush.

Each bears up to eight graceful fruits - cylindrical and pointed, in full ripeness - iridescent pink in color. The weight of each vegetable is 100-120 g. They contain a high percentage of sugars and dry matter. They do not burst when pickled, are good for drying, obtaining thick juice and, oddly enough in your opinion, for making tomato jam. With diligent care, the bush can bear up to a bucket of quality fruit.

Tomato Niagara

Weighty brushes

This mid-early vegetable variety has been on the state register since 2010. The bush is tall, but compact in width. It has a highly branched root system, responsive to increased nutrition and good water supply. A valuable feature of this Siberian variety is its multiple clusters, each of which bears up to 14 fruits weighing 85-115 g.

Meaty and sweet

This is one of the sweetest and meatiest products of Siberian breeders. It has been registered in the state register since 2007. The tomato is mid-season (116-118 days from the appearance of sprouts), with large foliage. The fruits resemble long, sharp peppers - they grow up to 15 cm. They are an elegant red color, the weight ranges from 120-185 g. The pulp of vegetables contains very little water and seeds. In the best case, there are up to a dozen fruits in one cluster. One bush gives 2-3 kg.

Tomato Koenigsberg

Excellent ovary

Included in the state register in 2005. The variety rightfully takes its place among the most productive Siberian varieties (up to 20 kg per square meter of land in a greenhouse). It sets perfectly even in the hot atmosphere of closed ground. Plants with a powerful bush with large leaves require increased nutrition and careful pinching.

The first ovary is formed after the growth of the 12th leaf, then inflorescences are formed every 3 leaves. Refers to varieties of medium ripening; in Siberian conditions, approximately half of the crop ripens; the rest of the fruits turn red quite well when ripened. Tomatoes in the lower clusters of vegetables weigh 300 g, and in those above - no less than 150 g. The shape is elongated, heart-shaped, smooth, and beautiful.

Vitamin and sweet

Ripe tomatoes have a golden-orange color and contain a record amount of carotene vitamins. The pulp is sweet and aromatic, like berries and fruits. The ripening period is average. The lower fruits are capable of filling up to a mass of 400-450 g, higher up the bush - 200-300 g. They are oval, often with a spout. The plants grow clusters through the leaves, each containing on average, as stated, up to 5 fruits. Productivity is high. The keeping quality is excellent. It is especially tasty when salted with gelatin.

Harvest hearts

Close internodes and a powerful trunk with dense foliage are like standard varieties, only the height is two meters. The Siberian breeding novelty produces half a bucket of fruit from one such “tree”. Ripening begins on the 115th day. Forms up to 6 beautiful clusters with 5-7 red tomatoes weighing 200-250 grams, shaped like strawberries.

Tomato Budenovka

Resistant to cracking

The variety is an improved version of Ox Heart, with a higher yield (about 9.4 kg per square), early ripening, good resistance to diseases (even to late blight) and cracking of the apical tissue of the fruit for a fleshy variety. Heart-shaped, ribbed tomatoes with excellent taste.

Record weight

The variety is a new product from a team of breeding scientists under the leadership of V.F. Gavrisha. Registered in the state register in 2015. Due to the unrealistically large fruits of vegetables, it is included in the “Russian Hero” series. The variety is not very fast in terms of ripening time (from 120 days), therefore it requires early planting of seedlings, especially careful pinching and decent feeding.

In Siberia and Central Russia it works well only in closed ground conditions, including a greenhouse. The average return from a bush is 3.6 (plus or minus) kg, the record is 7 kg. The tomatoes are flat-round, slightly ribbed, have an excellent smell and are very juicy, each weighing 400-600 g, not uncommon - 800 g. There are 2-3 tomatoes in one cluster of plants; if you leave only one tomato in it, it can pull more than 1 kg. Such “bogatyrs” are better suited for salads and distillation for juice.

Bowl of salad from one fruit

One of the best salad novelties, the yield is high. The plant bears 5-6 racemes. The fruits look very attractive due to their raspberry-pink color, large up to 500-800 g. The tomatoes are flat-round, ribbed, sweet. There is high resistance to cracking; The pulp density is average. A rare quality for large-fruited varieties: the fruits do not tend to quickly soften and spoil during storage.

According to the ripening period, the variety is classified as mid-early and mid-ripe. Perfect for preparing preparations: tomato paste, juice. This tomato variety is characterized by high yield. You can remove up to 5-6 kilograms of tomatoes from one bush.

Giant orange sweet

It has plasticity, rare for a large-fruited variety, and relative unpretentiousness. Delicate sweet pulp combines with excellent keeping quality. The tomatoes are round-flat (their “ribs” stand out a little), sunny orange in color. The average weight of a tomato is 0.5 kg, but in reality there are 1 kg of fruit on the bush.
