Description of the tomato variety Uncle Styopa and its characteristics

Features of agricultural technology for growing on a private plot

Tomato is planted as seedlings.
The exact timing depends on where the bush will grow. The approximate age of seedlings is 50-65 days. Seed originators are advised to place them on 1 square meter. m in the greenhouse there are 5 bushes. In the fresh air there can even be 6 of them. Do not be afraid of excessive planting density, the plants will be properly ventilated. We advise you to study the detailed instructions for planting tomato seedlings in open ground. Tips for cultivating tomatoes:

  1. Form a bush with 4-5 stems. Breeders have empirically determined that this is the optimal amount for the best harvest.
  2. Once the lower clusters have turned crimson, feel free to remove the leaves underneath them. The lower leaf plates no longer work to nourish the bush, but they prevent normal ventilation of the bed.

Growing

The variety requires a high content of nutrients in the soil. It responds well to the application of mineral and organic fertilizing, which is recommended to be done at least once every 10 days.

To obtain the optimal quantity of marketable fruits, it is recommended to plant no more than 5 plants per square meter. It is better to form a bush with 2 stems. Stepchildren located below 4-5 leaves are removed completely. As the fruits fill, the leaves below them are also removed.

Description of cucumbers Uncle Styopa

Cucumber Uncle Styopa F1 is an early-ripening parthenocarpic crop. Depending on the climatic region, it can be grown in open areas, film greenhouses, unheated and winter greenhouses. The variety is unpretentious in care. The bushes tolerate shaded areas and unexpected drops in temperature well.

Attention!

Cucumber Uncle Styopa is a first generation hybrid. It is not advisable to collect seeds from a grown plant - next season it will lose its varietal characteristics. The bush is powerful, medium-branched, indeterminate, and therefore needs additional supports and tying up

The leaves of the variety are small, dark green in color.

The bush is powerful, medium-branched, indeterminate, and therefore requires additional support and tying up. The leaves of the variety are small and dark green in color.

The buds are dominated by female inflorescences. The ovary formation of the variety is bunched - 2-3 fruits can form in each node. This type of ovary guarantees high yield even when cultivated in unfavorable conditions. The cucumber of the Uncle Styopa variety has an elongated cylindrical shape of light green color. It can reach 18-20 cm in length, 3.5-4 cm in diameter. The weight of one cucumber is 110-120 g.

A light white pubescence forms on the surface of the fruit. The peel is smooth, soft, without any foreign taste. Uncle Styopa cucumber has juicy, moderately elastic pulp and a rich, fresh aroma.

The yield of the Uncle Styopa cucumber variety is quite high. When grown in film greenhouses in compliance with the norms and rules of agricultural technology, up to 13 kg of juicy greens can be harvested from 1 m².

The early ripening hybrid Uncle Styopa is considered a salad species. Cucumber is grown mainly for fresh consumption. Can be used as a component for vegetable salads and refreshing spring okroshka. Also, Uncle Styopa cucumber can be used to prepare canned salads for the winter.

"Pros and cons"

Like any crop, the Uncle Styopa cucumber has certain advantages and disadvantages. Fortunately for gardeners, the variety has an advantage in its positive characteristics. The advantages of culture include:

  • high productivity;
  • ease of care;
  • resistance to temperature changes;
  • excellent taste and product properties;
  • resistance to typical diseases;
  • shade tolerance;
  • equal fruit size.

Among the disadvantages of the Uncle Styopa variety, one can highlight the need to form a bush when grown in a greenhouse, which is still more of a varietal feature.

Attention!

The Uncle Styopa cucumber is often confused with the hybrid Uncle Fedor. The second is distinguished by smaller, lumpy fruits and a rich shade of the peel.

The best varieties and hybrids of ribbed and long-fruited tomatoes

Today, in our summer cottages, we grow a wide variety of varieties and hybrids of tomatoes: thanks to the efforts of breeders, they differ not only in ripening time, but also in the shape and color of the fruit, taste, size and many other parameters.

Ribbed tomatoes

“I don’t eat tomatoes. I sword them, gobble them up with buckets.” Everyone who you ask today about the tomato harvest will answer this way or almost this way. The quote was taken from the new book by N. Kurdyumov and A. Kazarin, “Diaries of a Smart Summer Resident.” Very interesting and useful information from a kind person. And today’s tomatoes have really been a great success, despite all the weather difficulties.

READ MORE: Tomato Lyubasha f1: characteristics and description of the variety with photos and videos, yield of tomato f1, reviews from those who planted cherry tomatoes

I am closely involved in greenhouse tomatoes. And today I have created a collection of open ground tomatoes. Gradually, small-fruited varieties such as Buyan, Chelnok, Antoshka, and Ranetochka disappeared from it. For the benefit of Irkutsk residents who do not yet have greenhouses, I present up to one and a half dozen varieties of large-fruited tomatoes. In our harsh climate, there is no need to talk about completely open ground.

If there are enough sunny days and the sum of positive temperatures, then wind activity, up to a storm, causes significant harm. This June, the experience of protective walls worked clearly. Our first greenhouse, which served faithfully for 28 years, could no longer be used for its intended purpose. In the spring, the roof was dismantled; there was not enough time and energy for more; only glazed walls remained.

The varieties King of the Early, Soil Giant, and Champion of Buryatia are known to Irkutsk residents. The fruits of the Early King are round, red, weighing up to 500 g, fleshy, with a sufficient number of seeds. They were not observed to ripen particularly early - the second half of August, like everything else, the yield of the harvest was quite friendly.

The ground giant has the same characteristics, only the color of the ripe fruits is deep crimson. Champion of Buryatia, like previous varieties, with a bush height of 0.8–1.2 m, the fruits of the lower clusters are ark-shaped, the upper ones are heart-shaped, crimson in color. The maximum weight reached 680 g.

The Em-champion has the same characteristics as the Champion of Buryatia, only the fruits are red and weigh up to 500 g.

Variety Khlebosolny with a bush height of up to 70–80 cm, fruits are round, red, weighing up to 300 g. The first cluster was 1.5–2.2 kg.

Dimensionless: bush height 0.6–0.8 m, heart-shaped fruits, raspberry color, lower tomatoes weighing up to 770 g, upper ones – 200–400 g, sweet and sour taste.

Ballerina: bush height 0.8 m, pepper-shaped fruits, 10–15 cm long, red. Regular watering is required.

Pepper-shaped striped: stem height 0.8–1.2 m. The fruits are beautiful even when unripe: pepper-shaped, green with yellow streaks, ripe red with streaks, weighing 100–200 g. Suitable for pickling.

Red darling: stem height – 0.7–0.8 m, fruits are ovoid, red, weighing up to 150 g.

Productivity is a very subjective value and completely depends on the owner and the conditions he created for the tomato beds. The fruits are beautiful, smooth, shiny, the stems and leaves are green and healthy. Greenhouse plants are also spotless, green, healthy, but I somehow feel sorry for them: they suffer too much stress during the season. However, the final yield from a bush is determined only at the end of the season.

Tomato Regiment Commander - description and characteristics of the variety

Regimental Commander is a semi-determinate variety of pink tomatoes. Plants are resistant to viral and fungal diseases. These tomatoes have high yields and resistance to cracking. The fruits are very sweet, fleshy, with a small amount of seeds.

Description

Tomato Regiment Commander is a semi-tall variety with very large raspberry fruits. The bush reaches 1-1.2 m in height, has dark green large leaves. The plant requires shaping and tying to a support. This variety is suitable for processing into juice, tomato paste, and ketchup.

Growing and care

With the current high cost of seeds, tomatoes should be grown through potted seedlings. Seedlings are planted at the age of 30-50 days in open ground or greenhouses after May 20, when the threat of frost has passed. Two rows are placed every 60 cm, plants in the rows are planted every 50 cm. The length of the bed is arbitrary. With a high trellis, the stems are tied with twine (as in a greenhouse), throwing the tops of the lashes over the rail.

Before sowing, the seeds are soaked in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. After the potassium permanganate solution, the seeds are washed with water to swell.

Disease protection and fertilizer

The use of chemical methods of protection should be minimal. You need to plant seedlings as far as possible from each other, so that the bushes do not interfere with each other and do not fight for a place in the sun.

  1. It would be best to plant the seedling at a distance of 70-80 cm from its neighbors. The crown of the leading bushes will not allow the sun's rays to fall on their relatives.
  2. Do not skimp on space, give the seedlings as much space as possible; if you neglect this advice, the upper part of the plant will darken all the plants near it.
  3. Chemical methods currently remain the main ones, but their use can be successfully combined with biological and mechanical methods.
  4. Treating tomatoes with folk remedies will save a significant part of the harvest. In addition to traditional means of combating late blight, you can use proven folk remedies. In June, the bushes are sprayed with Bordeaux mixture. An infusion of marigold and wormwood is used to combat diseases.

When digging in the fall, it is advisable to add humus; it must be combined with the top fertile layer of soil. In spring, superphosphate must be added to the beds.

If this component is not available, you can use a kilogram of wood ash. Distribute fertilizers evenly over the entire area of the ridge, cover by digging or loosening.

It is recommended to spray with a 4 - 5% urea solution, this will protect the plants from viral and fungal diseases.

  1. To combat late blight, an infusion of rotted hay is used together with disubstituted sodium phosphate and sulfur preparations. In rainy years, the treatment is repeated after 10-11 days.
  2. The first signs of the disease appear in yellowing and drying of the leaves. Affected fruits and shoots stop growing, the fruits become small and inedible.
  3. Excessive moisture, especially on wet soils, contributes to the intensive spread of diseases.

Watering and shelter

  1. Drip irrigation allows you to increase the yield of tomatoes and at the same time reduce the amount of water used. Watering is carried out regularly, water is supplied slowly at a certain time.
  2. The system consists of a pipeline through which water moves, flowing through droppers to the plants. When using drip irrigation, the risk of diseases of leaves and fruits is minimized. Water is supplied in limited quantities and this significantly reduces weed growth. It is possible to use the supply of useful substances to plants simultaneously with watering.
  3. Tomatoes are heat-loving plants; when the temperature drops to + 5-10 degrees, plant growth stops, the ovaries fall off, and the yield decreases. You can protect tomato plantings with a covering material – geotextiles.

It is impossible not to mention return frosts in the second half of spring, which can destroy the entire crop. Using agrofibre as protection, gardeners and gardeners will protect themselves from this trouble.

Features of cultivation

Before planting in the ground, it is recommended to place seeds suitable for planting in a solution of potassium permanganate. This measure helps reduce the risk of damage to seed material by various pathogens. Then the seeds are removed from the potassium permanganate and washed thoroughly under cold water. After this, you should put them on a napkin and dry them a little.

Advice! After wetting the napkin, place the seeds on it and then put it in a warm place. In such conditions, planting material remains for 3-5 days. Check the material for moisture every day, adding water if necessary.

While the seeds are in potassium permanganate and hatching, it is necessary to prepare containers for planting. The required amount of soil mixed with ash and various fertilizers is poured inside the box. Then the containers are placed inside the oven and heated to 150-200 degrees. They remain in these conditions for 2 hours. Then they take out the earth and set it to cool.

After waiting for the sprouts to appear, the seeds are planted in the soil to a centimeter depth. After thoroughly pouring the soil with water heated to room temperature, the surface of the container is covered with film material. After this, it is recommended to place the box on the windowsill. Every day you should check its contents for sprouts. After their appearance, the film is removed.

Important! Once every 3-4 days it is recommended to water the seedlings with warm water. Under no circumstances should you water with cold water, as in this case tomatoes of the “Uncle Styopa” variety may be susceptible to various diseases. A few weeks before transplanting to a permanent site, it is recommended to harden the boxes with seedlings, taking them out of the room and into the street. Hardening should be gradual. Every day the period spent on the street is increased by 15 minutes. A few days before planting in the ground, the boxes can be left outside all day, bringing them indoors only at night.

When optimal weather conditions are established, the plants can be transplanted to an area specially prepared for this purpose. Optimal for 1 sq.m. plant 4-5 bushes of “Uncle Styopa”. These measures will help make the fruits larger.

Tomatoes grow well in areas after cabbage, cucumbers or green manure plants. The last crops can be planted several months before planting tomatoes. They can grow at the same time, but it is recommended to trim the top of the green manure from time to time.

Immediately before planting, the area is dug up with a sufficient amount of fertilizer. Then furrows are made with a 50-centimeter step between rows. In each groove, a medium-sized hole is made through a 40-centimeter gap. To tie up the bushes at the stage preceding the planting work, a peg is driven in near each hole.

A certain amount of water and organic fertilizers must be poured into each hole. Then the bush is placed inside and, straightening the roots, sprinkled with a sufficient amount of earth. Then water the plants with water.

Advice! To get a quick harvest, planting should be done at the stage of flower appearance. You can also tear off the lower leaves on the bush to increase the yield. This measure helps the bushes withstand a large load of fruit.

Caring for bushes is easy. You just need to water it on time, apply fertilizer and weed the area to remove weeds.

It is preferable to grow the “Uncle Styopa” variety through seedlings.

Preparation of seed material:

  • Pre-sowing disinfection of seed material is mandatory in order to reduce the risk of the possible occurrence of various pathogenic diseases. To do this, the seeds are placed in a manganese solution. Afterwards, the seed material must be rinsed well under running water and slightly dried;
  • To ensure uniform emergence of seedlings, the planting material is treated with an aqueous solution of aloe and a growth stimulant;
  • It is better to use germinated seeds for sowing. For this purpose, they are placed in a damp cloth and left in a warm place. The seed material should be kept warm for 3-5 days. The moisture content of the material is monitored daily and water is added if necessary.

Instructions on how to sow seeds:

  1. Sowing of seed material begins 60-65 days before the planned planting of seedlings in a permanent place;
  2. Planting containers are filled with the required amount of soil, to which wood ash and various fertilizers are added. To disinfect the soil, the containers are placed in the oven and heated to 150-200 ºС. At this temperature, they are left in the oven for two hours. Then they take out the containers and wait for the soil to cool;
  3. The required seed sowing depth is from 1.5 to 2 cm;
  4. Containers with plantings are placed in a room with a temperature regime of at least 22 ºС;
  5. Watering is carried out regularly, preventing the soil from drying out. Avoid excessive watering, as excess moisture causes abnormal growth of seedlings;
  6. As soon as the first shoots appear, the seedlings are moved closer to the light source. An additional source of lighting will be fluorescent lamps;
  7. The seedlings are hardened off for 7-10 days before planting. The seedlings are first taken out into the open air for half an hour a day, gradually increasing the period of stay on the street.

How to plant seedlings correctly:

  • Planting is carried out after stable warm weather has established;
  • It is good to plant tomatoes in beds where cabbage, cucumbers, and green manure plants previously grew;
  • The bed must be prepared before planting. The bed is dug up, adding a sufficient amount of fertilizer;
  • The width between rows should be at least 50 cm, the interval between planting holes should be 40 cm. Immediately before planting, pegs are installed near each hole for further tying;
  • Each hole is spilled with water and filled with organic fertilizer. Afterwards, a seedling is placed in the hole and, straightening the roots, it is covered with the required amount of soil. Next, water the plantings with water;
  • It is recommended to place no more than three seedlings per 1 m2. Thanks to this, you can get a harvest of large tomatoes.

Description and characteristics of the variety

The bushes are of an indeterminate type; they are not limited in height and reach 2.5 meters in greenhouses, and 1.5 meters in the open air. The foliage is medium, but very spreading and produces many side shoots. In terms of timing, the variety is classified as mid-early - 110-115 days pass between seed germination and the appearance of the first harvest. Tomatoes are collected in clusters of 3-5 pieces.

The fruits are medium-sized, weighing 180-200 g, with individual specimens weighing up to 300 g. They have an elongated shape, similar to bananas, or long pepper pods. The length can reach 20 cm. Inside there are 3-5 seed chambers, in which there is little liquid, the pulp itself is starchy, not juicy, with a high dry matter content. The skin is dense, the color at maturity is deep red.

Country of origin and year of registration

The tomato variety Uncle Styopa was created by Russian breeders relatively recently - in 2008. In 2012 it received registration in the State Register.

Description of the fruits of the variety

Golden Nugget tomatoes are not a hybrid form. The seeds can be left for reproduction; the plants in the next generation retain all their maternal properties. The shape of the fruit is round, slightly elongated. The average weight of a tomato is 25-30 g.

The skin is strong but thin. Golden Nugget tomatoes are not prone to cracking under normal watering conditions. Reviews from experienced gardeners note that cracking will occur with excessive watering during the ripening period of tomatoes. You can also lose part of the harvest in a rainy summer. During heat treatment, the fruit shell does not burst.

The color is yellow, with a pleasant gloss. Each mini-tomato is like an ingot of precious metal. When technically ripe, the tomatoes are pale green, with a small dark spot at the stalk. Under unfavorable weather conditions, they can be harvested at milky ripeness by cutting them together with the clusters. This way they will ripen quickly in boxes at room temperature.

The pulp is dense, light yellow in color. The berry contains 2-3 large seed chambers, the walls are thick, about 0.5 cm. The structure is dense, the tomatoes are juicy and tasty, moderately elastic. The consistency of the pulp is preserved even during canning.

Characteristics and description of the Golden Nugget variety highlights the taste and beneficial qualities of the fruit:

  • the berries contain a large amount of dry matter and are aromatic;
  • increased sugar content gives the fruit a sweet taste with barely noticeable sourness;
  • tomatoes do not lose their taste even in cold seasons and with artificial ripening;
  • light pulp contains beta-carotene, lycopene, protein substances, but is considered hypoallergenic;
  • low acid content makes tomatoes suitable for baby food and dietary dishes.

The purpose of the fruit is universal. Golden tomatoes can decorate any dish; they look picturesque in salads and gourmet appetizers. Mini tomatoes are suitable for sandwiches and canapés. Children happily pick delicious berries from the bushes.

Calibrated tomatoes are perfect for whole-fruit canning and look impressive in multi-colored assorted vegetables. Tomatoes can be frozen and used in winter for tomato dishes. Small fruits are suitable for drying or drying.

Good tomato juice or sauces are also prepared from yellow tomatoes. The color of this product will resemble peach puree, and the rich content of vitamins and minerals will successfully support the immunity of children and adults.

Landing

The variety is resistant to various diseases

Sowing of seedlings begins in the first half of March if cultivation in a greenhouse is planned.

For open ground, seeds are sown later - in the first half of April. After two months, the plants are completely ready for transplanting.

Sowing

The soil mixture for sowing is prepared from turf soil, peat and fertilizers. Seeds are soaked in manganese for disinfection and germinated in a damp cloth. Pour soil into the tray and make grooves 1 cm deep (at a distance of 3 cm).

The seeds are placed in grooves every 2 cm, moistened with a spray bottle and covered with soil. The tray is covered with glass or polyethylene film, and the temperature is set to 23-25°C.

Seedling

According to the description of the Lazyman variety, after a week the first tomato shoots appear - after removing the film from the tray, they are watered with warm water. In the future, watering is done once every 8-10 days. For one week, the temperature is lowered to 16°C to activate root growth.

The tray is transferred to a well-lit windowsill and, if necessary, additional lighting is provided. Plant seedlings at the stage of 2-3 true leaves, adding mineral fertilizers to the soil.

Tatyana Orlova (Vasilidchenko) (candidate of agricultural sciences):

Tomato seedlings are fed for the first time 7-10 days after picking. Before this time, fertilizing should not be done, because At this point, the seedlings have not yet taken root and the roots have not started working.

Transfer

A week before transplantation, the hardening process begins: every day the pots are taken outside or the windows are opened indoors. The hardening time is gradually increased, bringing it up to a whole daylight hours.

The soil in the garden bed is fertilized and dug up, and a support for tying is installed. Compost and ash are added to the holes, the plants are placed together with a ball of earth and watered abundantly with warm water. The distance between the holes is 40 cm.

The bushes are pinched up to the first flower cluster and the lower leaves are cut off. Other shaping work is considered optional.

However, to increase productivity, gardeners recommend forming this tomato into 2 stems. The stems and brushes of the bushes are tied up so that the fruits do not lie on the ground.

Watering is done every 10 days using well-settled warm water.

Plants need to be fertilized regularly

To retain moisture in the soil, the beds are mulched with hay, dry leaves, and peat. (If the soil is not mulched, it is regularly loosened and weeded.) The greenhouse is ventilated daily.

Fertilizing is done twice a month, alternately using organic matter and mineral complexes. In case of acute shortage of minerals, do quick foliar feeding on the leaves.

Tatyana Orlova (Vasilidchenko) (candidate of agricultural sciences):

During the first feeding, 1-2 weeks after planting, nitrogen fertilizers are given - ammonium nitrate, urea. Secondly, before flowering, complete mineral fertilizer containing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The third feeding is carried out at the beginning of fruit formation with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers.

Tomato Sasher F1 - description and characteristics of the variety

Virtues and disadvantages of a hybrid

  1. High productivity - up to 25 kg per plant, on average 20.
  2. Resistant to temperature changes.
  3. Resistant to many diseases common to tomatoes.
  4. Low rigor in care.
  5. Friendly ripening of fruits (advantage only for commercial production).
  6. Enormous shelf life and good transportability.

The disadvantage (when growing for yourself) is the short period of fruit collection.

Characteristics

Plant height from 60 to 100 cm. The fruits are round. In each cluster, 5-7 fruits are formed in a continuous flow from 150 to 170 g. The skin and pulp are dense. The color is ruby brown. The pulp contains many carotenoids and, given the brown shades, anthocyanins. Aunt and other pigments have an antioxidant effect on the human body, as a result of which they help prevent atherosclerosis and cancer. These substances, especially carotene and lycopene, are contained in most varieties, however, their increased content in the fruits of such hybrids as Sacher enhances their production. The fruits are best used for salads.

A number of shoots are formed on the plant. The leaves are large and dark green in color.

Features of cultivation

It is recommended to form the bush into 2-3 stems. When planting in open ground in an area of opportunity, choose a place that is protected from the winds and well-lit.

Sowing the seeds should be done approximately 2 months before planting the seedlings at the fruiting site. It is usually recommended to sow superelite with a depth of 1.5 cm. Immediately after sowing, it is advisable to place the cryogenic container with the crops in a place with a temperature of 20-25 degrees. After germination of most of the seeds, it is best to take them to a cooler place with a temperature of about 17 degrees. After the appearance of two true leaves, it is recommended to plant them in separate glasses. For weak growth, fertilizing with organic or mineral nitrogen-containing fertilizer is advisable. In particular, with organic fertilizers you can use an extract from vermicompost, and for mineral fertilizers, potassium or calcium nitrate, Fertika, Aquarin are suitable. To accelerate development, it is advisable to use biological products of the EM series, for example Baikal EM1, Vostok EM1 River, special stimulants such as Zircon, Silk. Seedlings should be planted when they are 55-60 days old; some vegetable growers recommend planting 1 cluster of flowers during the flowering period, but this indicator is not mandatory. The exact calendar dates for planting should be determined taking into account the weather and climatic conditions of your area. It is recommended to drag the plants before planting. Ant. remove humus at a dose of 5-10 kg/sq. m. Some gardeners recommend applying 10-15 g/sq.m. m, 40-50 g of superphosphate and 20 g of potassium magnesia, is it really 100-150 g/sq. m of ash. After applying fertilizers randomly, it is advisable to chisel the soil with a flat cutter or shallow digging with a pitchfork. The planting itself is best done, if possible, according to the 60-70 cm pattern. In greenhouses, plants need to be tied to trellises, and in open ground - to stakes. Before the 3rd cluster of flowers blooms, I would like to do without applying nitrogen-containing fertilizers. After the onset of this phase, regular (after 10-14 days) fertilizing with complex fertilizers, such as Zdraven, Mortvorin, is usually desirable, which can sometimes be replaced with extracts from vermicompost, for aging, Gumidar, Gumistar

When choosing fertilizers, it is important that the potassium content is greater than nitrogen. When a physiological form of blossom end rot appears, fertilizing with a 0.2% solution of calcium nitrate may be necessary. To increase fruit set, it is advisable to use microfertilizers containing boron, as well as preparations containing gibberellins, take Ovary, Bud. To enhance flowering, foliar fertilizing with superphosphate extract and microbiological fertilizers of the EM series can be useful

Except from this moment, and sometimes even earlier, regular removal of excess stepsons is required.

Patronage of plants

Plants of this hybrid are considered resistant to many diseases. Nevertheless, with a large amount of infection, it is desirable to stimulate the plant’s defense mechanisms, at least using immunity inducers, such as Immunocytophyte.

Tomato plants can be damaged by wireworms, whiteflies, Sovdepiya caterpillars, and, less commonly, the Colorado potato beetle and slugs. To protect against wireworms, there are purely chemical and biological preparations. Nemabact is one of the last resorts. It is recommended to spray the oncoming whitefly with Inta-vir or Iskra.

Landing error

Trying to get a harvest of nightshades of unprecedented size, new owners of greenhouses plant all available spaces as densely as possible with all types of nightshades in a row. This cannot be done!

In the thickened wilds of various vines and bushes, not only late blight readily reproduces, but also other fungal diseases, for example, powdery mildew or the scourge of any plant grown in a greenhouse - black leg. The spider mite won't keep you waiting either! High humidity and high temperature are optimal conditions for the reproduction of this parasite.

What a harvest there is with such a “bouquet” of nasty things! And, note, in this case, the lack of harvest has nothing to do with tomatoes.

Diseases and pests

Tomatoes grown in greenhouse conditions are damaged by whiteflies. Regularly hanging sticky traps around the greenhouse structure is effective in combating it. If there is a large number of pests, it is recommended to treat the plantings with insecticidal preparations that can be used indoors. The most dangerous diseases for tomatoes are late blight and various types of blight. To combat fungal diseases, it is recommended to use the drug “Hom” and other copper-containing products, as well as the use of fungicides.

Advantages and disadvantages

Any plant has positive and negative properties. If there are more of the latter, then the variety, instead of popularity, will gain a bad reputation.

Pros:

  • high productivity;
  • versatility of use;
  • good taste;
  • high density;
  • crack resistance;
  • the fruits are firmly attached to the hands and do not fall off when touched;
  • suitable for long-term storage;
  • retains its presentation during transportation;
  • has immunity to some diseases.

Minuses:

  • the hybrid does not produce seeds that retain its genes;
  • demand for formation.

The remaining disadvantages are inconsistent and insignificant for most gardeners.

Description of the breeding tomato Uncle Styopa and agricultural technology for growing the variety

The raceme tomato Uncle Styopa belongs to the selection of agrobiologists of Siberia. The elongated red fruits are distinguished by their taste and are suitable for canning and fresh consumption.

Advantages of the variety

The Uncle Styopa tomato is included in the Register of Breeding Achievements. A tomato with universal characteristics was bred by Russian breeders in 2008.

Tomatoes of this variety contain unique compounds (acids, antioxidants, starch), vitamins PP, K, as well as provitamin A. Tomatoes are saturated with trace elements of potassium, iron, phosphorus, magnesium, and sodium.

Reviews from vegetable growers indicate good cultivation results in the southern regions of the country. Easy adaptation to weather conditions made it possible to cultivate the variety in the northern part.

The characteristics and description of the Uncle Styopa variety indicate the possibility of cultivating the plant in protected and open ground. During the growing season, an indeterminate bush can reach a height of 180-250 cm.

Plants with a medium amount of medium-sized foliage, intense green color. The mid-early variety begins to bear fruit 115 days after germination.

The plant forms simple inflorescences; 3-5 tomatoes are tied and ripened in a separate cluster. The average yield per bush reaches 8 kg of fruit, the maximum weight of berries is 300 g.

The description of the fruit is related to the characteristics of taste and appearance. Tomatoes are elongated cylindrical in shape with a spout, slightly curved and slightly flattened like bananas, 20 cm long. When cut horizontally, 3-5 chambers with seeds are observed.

Tomatoes have thin skin, dense flesh, with a starchy core. Tomatoes are not classified as juicy fruits due to their low liquid content.

In the technical ripeness phase, the fruits acquire an intense red color. Tomatoes with a bright aroma and sweet taste.

The variety is resistant to most diseases of nightshade crops. Tomatoes tolerate transportation well over long distances and retain their taste during long-term storage. They are not prone to cracking during growth.

In cooking, tomatoes are used fresh for making purees, pastes, sauces, and juices. The variety is among the tomatoes suitable for canning and pickling. The fruits have proven themselves to be quickly frozen for the winter.

Characteristics of the variety

To understand what an Eagle Heart tomato is, a characteristic and description of the variety is needed. We will share this information with our readers.

Description of the bush

Tomato is a mid-season indeterminate variety with unlimited growth. The height of plants in greenhouse conditions reaches 180 cm. When grown outside, it is slightly lower.

The Eagle Heart tomato, as can be seen in the photo, has a powerful, thick stem with a large number of medium-sized light green leaf blades.

The tomato throws out flower stalks with whitish-yellow inconspicuous flowers. A simple tassel usually has up to 7 flowers.

Most often there are 3-4 tomatoes hanging on the bunches. There is a little more on the first brushes (see photo).

Attention! If every flower bloomed on a tomato, the plant would not have enough strength to grow them, even with excellent agricultural technology.

Features of the fruit

The fruits are large in size, sometimes up to 800-1000 grams (on the lower inflorescences). Tomatoes resemble a round heart in shape, which is why they got their name. The tip of the pink-scarlet fruit is slightly elongated.

According to the description and reviews of gardeners and consumers, the Eagle Heart tomato is distinguished by its fleshy pulp, sugary at the break. The fruits are juicy, there are few seed chambers.

Although tomatoes have a thick skin that prevents cracking, it is not rough. Tomatoes of the Eagle Heart variety have a rich, truly tomato-like taste; the fruits contain more sugar than acid.

Ribbed tomatoes

This conditional group includes varieties and hybrids, united by a common feature of fruit shape - ribbing. Among them there are both tomatoes with fleshy juicy pulp and hollow ones. I have a funny memory associated with the latter.

Back at the end of the last century, when I first grew hollow tomatoes at the dacha, I was very upset by the result: I expected to get juicy, fleshy fruits, but my hopes were not justified, and all my work was in vain... That’s what I thought then, because I didn’t know them true purpose. Later, I came to appreciate staffer tomatoes, and I am happy to grow them at my dacha, since everyone in our family really loves stuffed tomatoes.

One of the Siberian novelties, which is distinguished by oblong red-crimson fruits 20-25 cm long.

The yield from each bush varies from 7 to 10 kg.

The tomato variety “Uncle Styopa” is recommended for cultivation in regions with an unstable climate.

Tomatoes have long been among the most popular plants in gardens and cottages. The Uncle Styopa tomato was the fruit of the work of Siberian breeders. It received its self-explanatory name due to its size. The advantages of the tomato have made it one of the most popular varieties.

The plant gives a good harvest in protected conditions and open ground. The universal tomato was developed through the efforts of Russian breeders in 2008. 4 years later it was officially included in the State Register. Characteristics and description of the variety:

  • indeterminate, grows throughout the summer;
  • mid-early, fruit ripening period 115 days;
  • average yield, up to 8 kilograms of berries per plant per summer,
  • tall, plant height reaches 2.5 meters:
  • average foliage of the bush;

  • simple inflorescences;
  • from 3 to 5 fruits are tied in a separate brush;
  • resistance to most nightshade diseases;
  • long-distance transportation possible;
  • not prone to cracking;
  • good keeping quality.

Uncle Styopa tomatoes showed good results in the southern regions of Russia. Resistance to adverse weather conditions has made it possible to grow the plant in the north of the country. Descriptions and technical data of fruits:

  • elongated, sometimes slightly curved shape;
  • the length of tomatoes reaches 20 cm;
  • dense;
  • large size, with a maximum weight of an individual berry of 300 grams;
  • number of cameras from 3 to 5 pieces;
